Castlevania DS Footage

Looks like the GBA versions, not a bad thing, but after already 3 GBA incarnations I would like something different.

oli's going on a DS rampage. But that footage is AMAZING! I loved the ending after the title :lol

I would like to add that I really liked Aria of Sorrow for the GBA and enjoyed how they toyed with the typical Castlevania story and Gameplay. The addition of the souls was a rather clever twist to the classic Gameplay.

I'm definitely looking forward to this release; hopefully they'll be able to incorporate other uses for the touch screen aside from clearing blue ice blocks from the screen and drawing magic symbols.

God I can't wait to get my hands on this. Hopefully there are a few more clever uses of the touchscreen, like teleportation with the doll or something.

Looks great, but then again I'm a sucker for any decent 2D games nowadays.

I would sell my soul for a 2D Castlevania on PS2.

Are you listening, Satan?

This footage is old, I've seen it before. The only difference is the Castlevania logo at the start and end of the video.

Yeah, me too. I don't know why VideogamerX posted it. Oh well. Still looks very nice. :)

This one looks more Symphony of Night quality graphic wise than Aria of Sorrow quality.
I finished AOS a couple of weeks ago and i want MORE!!! ...but i don't want to buy a DS yet, this would be the only game i'm really interested in so far. I ain't buying a console for one game for sure!

Two things:

2.) It'd look better on the PSP. :lol

SotN looks like a GBA game too I take it?

After seeing more than the first batch of blurry screens and especially after seeing the game in motion I don't know how anyone can still think this looks like anything the GBA could dream of doing...outside of the multi-sprite characters (and their movement), this game looks very much like SotN...hell...it looks better in some aspects

Gameplay seems very similar to Aria Of Sorrow. Is that Soma (the hero) ?

I'm dying to get this game, I just finished Aria Of Sorrow one or two days ago, and I liked it better than Symphony Of The Night.

That looks pretty fantastic...except for the second screen, which appears to be extraneous at best. I'm all for games that make good use of the touch screen function, but this is definately an example of pounding a square peg into a round hole. Otherwise, it looks great.

I've probably played 10 different Castlevania games and I still find myself excited over another one.

I just can't get enough of this series. It's an addiction.

I'll probably end up buying this one since I'm going to need a DS for Advance Wars anyway and it looks pretty sweet. I'm glad he's not using a whip.

1. THIS ISN'T SIMON BELMONT!!!!1!!one!
I take it you didn't play Aria of Sorrow on the GBA?

2. >_>
Nevermind, my previous question. This one said enough...

Strange, it seems everyone recently finished AoS; great game.

I think the second screen as a map is perfect for Castlevania. Cleans up the whole gameplay by not forcing me to pause the game to check my map.

So... I'm going to have to keep the stylus in my hand the whole time I'm playing in case I run into any ice?

Why couldn't you just use your finger? Use your pinky?

Eh, I guess. I don't know. This just seems like a pretty hackneyed mechanic that will get in the way more so than actually add to the gameplay.

Maybe Castlevania DS owners will be exude an air of refinement as they play with their pinkies jutting out!

What I don't understand is why this game isn't coming out sooner than it is. We've seen this footage before, it just seems like this game should be out before fall.

It makes us feel superior and fancier. When in doubt, pinky out!

Animation seems pretty stiff (Goemon DS looks much smoother), but other than that, looks like very nice Castlevania old-school goodness on steroids.

Music check.

Sprites' quality and animation check.

Sound FX check.

Backgrounds quality and diversity check.

Fuck'n A, SOTN caliber Castlevania on a handheld :).

I knew the DS would have delivered it :).

music, sound effects, and animation suck.

Everything else looks decent. The visuals are dissapointing though. I'd love to see a 2D Castlevania with a cleaner and higher resolution look.

Old footage, but I haven't seen it for a month or two, so it was nice to watch it again.

Cannot wait. My DS is hungry for fresh gaming goodness. PSP too, but I've had the DS much longer...

Is the GBA SP dead after this year? With the numbers they have for the GBA it would seem crazy to kill support for it as it has the 2nd largest userbase and it will take forever for the GBA and PSP to get to even half of what the GBA has.

My feeling is really the GBA SP could get another redesign (say with MP3 playback/downloadable games built in) and sell very well.

I doubt Nintendo does that though.

The PSP as cool as it is, really isn't functional as an MP3 player, but the smaller GBA + mini-HDD for $150 or so could be gold.

So is this, like you know nature rebalancing itself? After the purge(dramatic I know) of Nintendo fans/fanboys are Sony fans shifting camp to realign the gaf ecosystem?

Hmmm... I am going to love this game and love the overall backgrounds and graphics but am I the only one that thinks that the character model for Soma needs some work? I remember Alucard looking a little more detailed in SOTN... anyone have any pics to compare?

I just think Soma could look so kick ass, you know?

No, it is just called "being happy as handheld hardware is properly utilized" :).

Animation is not choppy besides for a monster and even there I think it is intentional: most of the sprites you see are ripped straight out of SOTN and the DS carts hold more than enough space for them (not to mention, they are not limited by what the overclocked GBA CPU+2D engine [2x the clock-frequency as on the GBA] can do: they could do it using triangles/front facing quads like PSOne used to do: what is a sprite other than a front facing quad ;) ?) and for the music and Sound FX albeit with some kind of compression (but they might go even without Redbook Audio, MP3's could suffice).

I have seen the GBA Caslevania games and this one, and the video they say is old, looks ahead of them in basically everything.
