Definitely. I said "Wow" after both of them, which isn't something I do much. Bumped the show a whole bunch for me.

Seeing the amount of discussion of this it honestly gives me hope we might see more than S2.

Actually, the Japanse version is more ambiguous. In the Japanse manual they don't mention any gender pronouns. This is actually quite easy to do in Japanese.

It does. I was iffy on the first ep but the show gets better as it goes on, specifically after Trevor enters the picture. Also, the fourth ep is easily the best and worth getting to.
Good to know. I'm a huge Castlevania fan and I went in with an open mind but that first episode frustrated me in a bunch of ways.
That could easily be, I can't read Japanese so I have absolutely no way of knowing. I read a translation that used male pronouns and even referred to Sypha as "an apprentice monk in pursuit of becoming a priest" in the manual's story intro. It was likely done by a fan, so who knows how accurate it is.

The fight between Trevor and Alucard was so awesome. I've rewatched that scene about four times now.

Like with the old woman, I'd like to think that maybe he still had a little token kindness towards humanity left and did it in honor of Lisa. Also...the legions of hell can't be summoned that quickly, you know? They're probably busy. More seriously, Warren Ellis probably wanted to include a short but significant time gap in order to explain/justify the events of episode four.

When Sypha was a statue and Trevor had to defeat a cyclops to free her I knew I was in. Castlevania 3 is like my earliest super hard game I could beat but no one else I knew could. Always my soft spot game of the series. Can't wait to see what Grant is like next season. Already love the other 3 main characters.
that's how I understood it at first but right after that scene in the castle he states that it would take him one year to summon his minions. Like, he couldn't do the job without them?

I enjoyed Trevor's interactions with the ordinary people a lot. I mean, look, there are ordinary people in the Castlevania universe!

just finished the all the episodes and this was quite enjoyable
the only down sides i can find is that is that there is a little big of stiff animation here and there (

Dracula is powerful, but not invincible. If he wants to kill an entire Country, probably best to do it with an army.
And for whatever reason, it would take him a year to conjure that army.

Nah gotta follow up Trevor with Simon and Castlevania 1 then you go to Richter with Rondo of Blood and follow up with Alucard and Symphony of the Night.

Decided to play some CV3, made sure to grab Alucard as my partner.
Can not get passed the twin mummy boss. Which sucks even more is they are just the first part of a 3 tier boss fight.

I love how part of the final episode is directed, just after they meet Alucard. It's at 14:05 in the episode, and Trevor says "I know what you are", and Alucard responds with "And what am I" with an extreme close-up on his face and just shows his fangs as he speaks. Just a little thing, but I loved the shots they chose for that conversation.
EDIT - also, "Stone the fuck up" is my new favourite phrase.
EDIT 2 - also, I love the difference in fighting styles between Trevor & Alucard. Trevor is a great fighter, but he's a brawler and will cheat if necessary (hence the ballshot against Alucard), while Alucard is beautiful and lithe and graceful when he moves, and especially when he fights. Like the bit when the sword spins and he catches it, or when it lifts, makes that metallic hum and slides into his scabbard.

Simon can be done in flashbacks. Original Castlevania is pretty derivative. With CIII, you have more to work with, Sylpha, Alucard, etc.
I'd rather they don't just head right into Rondo of Blood since that's basically leads right into Symphony of the Night. They could do Leon if they needed a prequel and the origins of the Belmonts.
This is something I didn't understand about the series. I don't know much about Castlevania lore, but I was thinking Simon came after Trevor, chronologically.
That's why I didn't understand the stuff in the bar about everyone hating the Belmonts for forever. Had they been around that long?

Original might be, but keep in mind with Simon you have to cover CV1 and 2, because Drac curses him at the end of CV1.
Edit: If you do it in flashbacks, it would make a ton of sense to cover the events of CV2 with flashbacks to CV1.

Have a RoB/SotN alternating episodes or have SotN be the main plot with RoB flashbacks
Edit I've never played RoB but I've always been so fucking fascinated with it, I think I may have to buy a used PSP just to play it some day lol
it goes Trevor-> Christopher -> Simon -> Juste -> Richter -> (hundreds of years without a Belmont) -> Julius
EDIT: They're not necessarily father/son. The gap between Trevor and Christopher is like 120 years. Simon is Juste's grandfather, and Juste is (most likely but never literally confirmed) Richter's father.

So Sesin 2 would finish up CV3. Season 3 would be Rondo. Season 4 would finally be SOTN. Along with Season 5.
If Season 6 happens we skip ahead to Simon / cv1 because he's iconic. Season 7 would be CV2.

The art / fights / plot were good, but the writing / dialogue was really bad. I liked it enough to watch another season but I hope they get better writers.
Yep, and in game it was a ram limitation hence the recycled male pronoun for Sypha.
If they're going in order than they'd be doing Simon and Castlevania 1 and 2 before Rondo of Blood/SotN. Simon is in the late 1600's and Richter/Alucard is the late 1700's
This hit all the right notes, except for the music, and the music is not bad, it serves it's purpose and I love chorals, but Castlevania has so many iconic and memorable tunes, how can they make a series based on the videogame and not even hint at something close to "bloody tears" for instance? I hope is not because they thought the music was too "videogamey".

I saw it last night in one shot and liked it a lot! I enjoyed the slow build up with Dracula's backstory/motivation for Episodes 1 and 2. It helped humanize him even though he clearly had the Vlad The Impaler reputation already. The first time Alucard showed up made me grin.
Trevor being a drunkard dick and trying to be incognito was good. Episodes 3 and 4 had a great pay off. I agree that the major two fight scenes were the highlight but I also liked how they incorporated the lore with the
I hope more of the major characters including Death and Carmilla show up and they get some kind of backstory. We need more nuanced villains rather one dimensional big bads who cackle and taunt all the time. This gives me hope that we'll see more animated video game series done proper justice; I would be down for a show set in The Witcher universe.
The teaser at the end left major blue balls until Season 2. I agree with everyone else who said that the animation quality was noticeably stiff in several scenes so I hope they get a bigger budget.
