Castlevania: SotN - Still the best

As fast as I could beat it (w/o 100%). I probably could've shaved it down to just under :50 if I tried a few more times, but I was content enough with what I had.

And yeah, I've been meaning to play SotN for ages, but I don't have a PS/2, and I don't know how to get the emu version to work. :/

I dunno what's acceptable emulator talk, but I'm sure that someone knows how to get it to work on an emu, I've seen it played on EPSXE before.

If bionic seriously got :30, I'm fucking impressed. I spent about 6 months playing SM, and the best I could do was :57, with the help of the net. :X

As for SotN...I still haven't played it. What a traitor I am. Castlevania 3 is probably my favorite CV game...had amazing music, tight gameplay, lots of different transformations. Need to boot up the ol' rom again one of these days...

CotM when it first came out was really quite good, and still pretty underrated today. i agree about the hardware hindering it at the time. The only problem I had with it was that it got pretty tedious towards the end...though the boss battles kicked ass.

I am pretty sure it was around 30 minutes. I had this exact same conversation with a friend of mine a few years ago and we both thought it was 30. I would check the cart, but I left my SNES and all my games at my parents' house when I moved out and the kids of some family they invited to dinner stole some of my fucking games. I was pissed not only because all of those games were expensive to replace, but I had maxxed out the characters on a few rpgs and of course my times for Super Metroid and Super Punchout. :(

CoM was a cool game but horrible on the original gameboy. You couldn't see 90% of the artwork until the SP came out. I am just not a big fan of handhelds, but I keep going back to them because that is the only source of good 2D games anymore.

considering all the emu talk that has been for PSP it seems acceptable...

Oh..well ok.

If you got :30 flat, you'd be the fastest console-runner in the world for as fast as you can (:34 was stated, but not proven, and :20-something was done by those emuguys).

Hmm, the memory can play strange tricks on the mind. I thought I remember seeing that someone beat it under an hour with 100%? That is why I thought 30 minutes (just speed not trying to get everything) was not a big deal.

Damn, the urge to replay Super Metroid is rising. I don't know if I have the patience or time for this kind of stuff anymore. All my best gaming "accomplishments" were done in college with a few of my best friends back then. I remember vividly beating a bunch of NES games without dying (including Castlevania1, Ninja Gaidens, etc) and also trying and failing to beat Zelda without the sword or just plain beat Ghosts and Goblins in the NES (hardest fucking game I have ever played).

Getting off topic here so maybe we should start another thread, but what are some gaming accomplishments you guys have done? I am sure there must be some insane ones from this board.

Btw scarlet, you said you got under an hour in SM too. What was your time? And have you done a run w/ 100%?

It'd be an amazing deal. :)

I could never do that...level 3 beat me down (but could warp to level 4 and go through!)

That'd be fun, but it'd look bad if I made it (go hijacking topic).

To an earlier comment, I like Castlevania 2..but I like 3 and the SNES one more. :)

Also, what doesn't work when you try emu'ing SotN?
