Castlevania VS Advance Wars DS... or both?

These both came out in the UK / Europe today.

The Uni I attend is in the freaking sticks... at least it seems like it is when you go into any of the shops that stock videogames. The local Dixons only got one copy of Advance Wars in and they sold it straight away. They looked confused when I mentioned Castlevania and suggested I try another store. Which is the advice I'd already gotten from that other store incidentally.

Anyway, I'm back home, where the shops are bountiful with new goods, and I'm gonna buy one of these over the weekend. Which would you recommend?

Tough decision, but is there any reason you can only buy one? Otherwise, I wouldn't make that choice and just pick the two of them up.

I just got paid, but I have outgoings and such this month that are more than they would usually be. And I've just gone from full time (37hrs + lunches) to part time (22.12hrs a week) at work, while still travelling as much thanks to Uni. If there's one game people recommend over the other, I'll probably get that. Then wait and see whether I can afford to buy the other a little later on.

Knowing me I'll probably get impatient and be poor all month.

I've only played the first Advance Wars, but if the DS version is anything like that one I would personally go for Castlevania. AW was just way to difficult for me. Mindless action is where it's at.

well which genre are you a fan of? strategy or action-rpg

The last Castlevania game I played was SNES era. I havent played SOTN or the GBA incarnation. I honestly can't remember if I was into it or not... I do like the sound of a good Action RPG.

I've never played any of the Advance Wars games.

Would picking either of these titles give me something meaty to sink my teeth into? I own 10+ DS games, but a lot of them are short pick up & play experiences that need complimenting.l I'm downgrading my PSP as we speak, so I'm not in dire need of filling this void, but if buying one of these helps it will certainly be a most welcome perk.

If it were these two VS Nintendogs, which is out next week, what would you choose then?

Castlevania and AW over Nintendogs any day of the week. Both of them should provide you with, as you said, a "meaty game to sink your teeth into." More so than Nintendogs. Though Nintendogs is fine as well, I wouldn't put it above DoS or AW DS.

Seriously though, if you want my honest opinion I'd get Castlevania.

They're both great games (so I've heard), but Nintendo as a publisher is pretty good at keeping their stock around, so if you wanted to get AWDS later, you could.

Konami on the other hand, perhaps not - what with the relative scarcity of Aria of Sorrow for the GBA.

You might have problems finding castlevania, my local game and gamestation stores had zero copies today at 11am.

The local independant game store where i got my copy recieved 3 copies out of the 15 he ordered.

From what i saw today and quite a few posts on a forum i visit it seems konami have underestimated demand for it.

Castlevania IMHO is a must-buy. This is the most fun I've had with a DS game (tied with Oendan) as of yet.

And if you're having troubles finding it in a store, just order it online ASAP.

My friend said the Gamestation in Liverpool didn't have any copies either. Perhaps its a Gamestation problem. Virgin Megastore Liverpool had it in, but he didnt pick it up... I can just go there I guess.
