My cat is kinda like this--won't drink from a bowl, but will drink in the bathroom, out of a tap if possible. >.> Only solution is to keep the bowl handy by the bathtub and fill it up whenever she whines for it, which thankfully is only like twice a day.

It sure as hell looks like one. Does it have blue eyes? It has to has those. If not I think it still has some Birman blood in him.

I have two of those magnificent bastards. Azumi and Loki

the cat on top looks like a fucking boss

We've got two of those electric fountain bowls, and I keep a (plastic) glass of water sitting by the bathroom sink. They start looking offended if the water level gets too low in the glass, so I tend to refresh/refill it daily. 'Tis easy, since I'm often standing there with the water running, anyway.

Fresh, running water. Cats like it.

You should replace all standing water once or twice a day. As it loses oxygen it gets stale and can also breed bacteria and other stuff.

We also keep a bowl by the bathroom sink, and a bowl of standing water with food and one of those running fountains.

Get a water fountain bowl thing, and clean it often. Don't turn on the kitchen tap, close the door to the bathroom, and your cat will eventually drink from the water bowl.

You can also switch to wet food, or mix wet/dry food together if your cat isn't getting enough liquid. Shit aint rocket science yo.

My cat drinks out of the tap also. But she likes to climb behind the faucet and lean over and let the water cascade off of her paw and drink it from there.

Our cats only like bottled water. So I suggested a trick - get tap water and boil it (since they still seemed to taste the fact that it was straight up tap water) then put it in the empty bottled water to trick them. We use a big 1.5L plastic bottle and place it near the bowl of water so they see it whenever they drink or when we fill it up. Seems to work.

My cat does a similar thing but in a much more efficient way. He puts his paw through the running water and then licks off all the water, or he will turn his head sideways and lap up the water. He only drinks from a running tap, but it's pretty awesome because it only has to be dripping, so when we go away, we just leave the bathtub dripping and he's cool for days.

How do I get my cat to stop drinking from the tap??

Its been a terrible curse!

First it drinks from its bowl but it decides thats not good enough! It wants its water straight from the tap into its mouth so we have to put him out new bowl of water from the tap every time he wants to drink.
Cats instinctively like to find their own sources of water. Try putting a few extra bowls around the house. The novelty of a bowl of water in an unexpected place might entice the cat to start drinking that instead of the tap.

My cat loves fresh water, or anything we drink she wants some too. She's gone after my orange juice of all things. She'll drink from her bowl but she's smart enough to know if we have a glass it's superior water from the filter.

Some of your cats can't even drink tap put in a dish? Man. Uppity.
