CBD is worthless snake oil of the 21st century

I decided to try an experiment with CBD. I bought some Natural Lazarus that was recommended. It wasn't cheap either. But I bought it to keep a log of its effects.

Day 1 was surprising. I ended up having a bit of a relaxed mood and I gained a pretty big appetite (I'm not fat in the slightest so this is good).

Day 2, somewhat similar effects. Suspected it was a placebo though.

Day 3, kind of hungry. Not relaxed. Actually was in a horrible mood.

Day 4- 20, nothing. No hunger. No sleepy feels. Just nothing.

Why do people pay for this crap? I heard it's good for pain but I also heard this is good for anxiety and stress which lol it wasn't.

I hear the creams and stuff are quite effective, but I have no personal experience other than noting that CBD bud doesn't get you high in the slightest.

My only experience with CBD is actual hemp flower from Oregon. Looks and smells like weed, but it's like 20% CBD, and only 1% THC. I got an eighth of this strain, Sour Space Candy, and smoked a fat bowl in my pipe and I felt noticeably buzzed and relaxed. Vaping flowers is also the way to go for consuming CBD.

Those oils and lotions and tongue droppers and bath bombs and whatever else doesn't seem very effective from a somewhat recreational standpoint, because nothing labeled "CBD" is getting you high lol. But people who have back/shoulder problems and pains and aches and actual disorders/diseases really benefit from CBD for clearing up some discomfort. It's beneficial if you know what you're doing, I guess.

I don't wish myself anything like that but I wish (not really) I could check it out myself with something like that just to see if that works. As for the stress relief, nope. It was a waste of money. Kava is great for relaxing but it sucks the next day because you're so sleepy. I've never once smoked weed so I have no idea if that relaxes or not.

It might have a better benefit to lessen pain if you applied it to the skin and gently massaged the area where the pain is for a few minutes or so to stimulate lymph and blood flow to the site

I always thought these things are more or less worthless. The only way to eliminate pain, in my experiences, is to have a plan and execute it to the best of your efforts and ability. For example, if you have neck pain, just to give one problem area, and the way I would attempt to eliminate said pain:

-Clean up diet, drink a lot more water, breathe and oxygenate the body 3x per day in a meditative state if you can

-Fix muscle imbalances. This may include but is not limited to strengthening muscles and stretching muscles. You can also massage. You can also use a variety of other therapies to lessen pain over time, and eventually eliminate most if not all pain. Chiropractor, contrast therapy, tens unit can help

-Lifestyle changes. Standing desk for work. Focus on proper alignment all day. Try to be active and focus on constantly moving in some way, taking only brief rests to lay down or sit down throughout the day until it is time to sleep. Rest is crucial, when your body calls for rest, it needs rest. You can take a 10-15 min rest in a chair, lying down, or even doing certain yoga moves like child’s pose and such. Body keeping the body moving will be a major plus towards the goal of decreasing pain. If you can move, you should move until you are tired. Rest some. Keep moving more if you can until it is time to go to bed

I take a very high quality anti-inflammatory supplement called ‘Rightful‘ (turmeric based, highly recommend btw) because I am pretty much in pain to some degree, physically, every day of my life and even that amazing supplement doesn’t cut it. It’s a supplement and it’s there to improve things to a degree, it was never meant to be relied upon fully. Maybe it will help 1-5% in addition to your plan, that is a guess that I would say you can expect

But the true way to manage pain and improve so that you don’t have pain eventually, is to work on your lifestyle, your body, and to assess the root causes of your pain. I hear CBD products can help, and I know curcumin products will help, but if you aren’t living right, you will still feel the pain regardless of whether you take the CBD oil product or the anti-inflammatory product. If you are accidentally, by way of just ignorance, consuming foods that cause mild inflammatory responses or higher, it’s going to be systemic, and your entire body will affected. I’m trying to convey the truth which is: if people want to reduce pain, they have to expect to make a lot of changes and work for that reduction of pain. We have to choose the correct path with every choice otherwise our health will be depleted. IMO, everything adds up. You should be careful not to make mistakes if you want to live pain free. You have desire health and you have to choose health every single time, every single choice you have, you have to make the right choice. Them you have to tell yourself, alright, that’s a good choice, but lets see if there is an even BETTER choice for my health so what else can I do to make an even better choice. Do that with choosing the foods that make up your meals for example

That’s my take on this topic. The CBD oil is one piece maybe a few pieces to the large puzzle. Go ahead and use it, it will likely help some, but let’s not forget that there is much more to what we need to do to grow in overall health and achieve wellness. Achieving wonderful health is a massive effort and takes a multifaceted approach

I remember reading it def has some uses.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
Stoners have been saying marijuana cures everything for the last 40 years. It has never been true, and this is just the newest branch of that.

Well they were always talking about CBD.

For me CBD was always about the pain relief (when I compressed my spine, this was a godsend during recovery now it's all yoga + bike riding sans cbd) and sleep aids. That being said, different things work for different folks and if someone can find relief with CBD than opiates because it's an option now I'm all for it.

It is for regular thc smokers, but for people who don't smoke can be usefull to relax.

I bought some cbd gums to my mother and they kinda work, maybe it's placebo effect, who knows...

A friend of mine prepares CBD Oil from Switzerland. She drank 2 ml becaue she thought it doesnt matter xD she had one hell of a trip and was happy finally to sleep.

CBD is non-physcoactive, so the high people have been explaining is likely a placebo effect. With that being said, people who consume a lot of THC may feel high from consuming CBD, as THC & CBD are meant to work together. Now a days people breed weed strictly for THC, as thats what people want. You can get considerably more high when mixing a THC heavy and CBD heavy strain.

Another thing to mention is that if you ate the CBD you are less likely to get the effects, same as eating a THC edible. It highly depends on what you have previously eaten throughout the day, and if it wasn't much... Your stomach acid is likely to burn up the CBD before it can be absorbed further into your body. This is why people recommend creams as you can rub it directly onto where you would like the effects (Your temples, skin rashes, sore joints, etc). This is also the reason why people who bake edibles often use a lot of coconut oil, the oil is very fatty making it much more likely the THC and/or CBD will make it further than just your stomach.

Yes OP, must be snake oil just because you got nothing out of it, seems legit.
I am a long time weed smoker and even I would say, that CBD has it's usage, its relaxing and calming, just without the high/being stoned

I smoked some high strength stuff and I can say there was definite effects, not unlike getting stoned. A nice chill head high/buzz that lasted a few hours.

I smoked other stuff and it did fuck all. There is all different strains and strengths.

CBD hash looks interesting.

CBD cures everything. It is a secret that all of the business cartels don't want you to know.

Because there is no possible way anyone is in it to make money off CBD.

Did some research and bought a couple tinctures of some reputable brands. Tried it for two reasons:
I often have a very hard time falling a sleep as I often cannot shut my mind off. I also do MMA 6 days a week and am very sore all the time.

It seems to work for the most part, specifically the falling asleep part. Not a miracle cure but works. My main issue is the cost. Some sleeping pills and Advil seem to work just as good if not better and are much less expensive.

I've never done CBD by itself (I enjoy THC edibles often, sometimes with CBD, sometimes without) and it is a different kind of high. One thing it consistently does for me is put me to sleep at the end of the night. I'm not in chronic pain so can't attest to long-term effects of any drugs in that area, but the one time I did have shoulder pain the CBD seemed to get rid of it. Could be just a coincidence.

I don't think it "cures" anything but it def has effects, both on my body and my THC high. Is it what so many people try to sell it as? Probably not. Does it do something that proper diet, stretching, and exercise can't? No. But I enjoy it as part of my balanced drug binge every week.

They market CBD hard and it's just something to be excited for (ironically as it relaxes you) just be thankful OP that you don't need it

Best thing is to just smoke the strongest bud you can find! Much more CBD than in the shitty oils plus you get THC the shit that actually does something.

I don’t think so my grandma replaced some pills which were causing her a lot of distress with CBD and it made a huge difference.

Sorry if u had a bad experience. Lol at pretending it’s all snake oil tho

I think the problem is there is so much fake stuff out there, its not regulated so apparently there is a huge difference between what you get at like a legit shop versus the 7/11

So many "remedies" are snake oil - including traditionally accepted mainstream "solutions". The idea of getting better seems to sell for some strange reason, lol. It's almost like people will try literally anything.

I hear the creams and stuff are quite effective

My girlfriend tried both a cream and a tonic (tincture) for some back issues she was having a few months ago, pre-COVID. Both were useless.

On the other hand, a friend of mine who is a competitive shooter swears by the cream to treat some arthritis he's developed in his trigger finger.

So, I guess the effectiveness varies from person to person, but I tend to err on the side of placebo, bordering on snake oil.

That said, I've always been a "better living through Chemistry" type guy and when I'm sick or in pain I want the lab developed remedy, not the natural one so my opinion may be a bit skewed.

The notoriety is because it's extracted from weed, that's it. It's novel. All of the symptoms it alleviates can be done by other cheaper options. If it works for people though, more power to you. We spend plenty of money on vanity. Trying to feel a bit healthier is fine as long as you don't blunder into... well... snake oil.

Eh, I work with a severely handicapped person and it has helped him tremendously. He has a rare condition called PANDAS and it helps calm his outbursts and his OCD. Helps him sleep through the night. Honestly its so much better than pills that just seem to turn his brain off.

It can take months to see any tangible effects with CBD but its been shown to help.... https://www.cbdscience.com/

I spent $38 on a pack of 30 gummies. Took 2 of them. 25 mg each. Didn’t feel much of anything, maybe a little more relaxed but that could’ve been placebo.
