CD Projekt RED updates studio & The Witcher 3 logos

I quite like the Witcher logo.

The bird though....yeaaaaaaaaaah, not a fan.

For some reason I keep thinking of a Pokemon.

Nah, it is suspect. I wonder what made them come up with that.

They were the localization, porting house, and domestic publisher for Poland. Namely during the CD era. Red I believe is the Game Studio as the split up the company into a holdings company with CDPR and GoG underneath. Red might be a reference to Polands colors. The official register name of the company is really weird though. It's cdp.pl Sp. z.o.o.

Two things.

1) This TW3 logo looks better
2) despite that, I think they should've sticked with the old logo. I mean, and I'm probably just splitting hairs, they're not being consistent since TW2 didn't have Roman numerals.

Really like both logos. I especially like CD projects new one. Absolutely hated their old design, as it reminded me of some 90s dodgy software for Windows.

Makes sense, I suppose. tbh if I was them I'd just change it to "Projekt Red" which sounds infinitely better.

It looks like VERY surprised Sauron from LotR. Heh.

I like them!

ed: Them logos look really good on neojeff dark theme because .png

I actually think they both look pretty good for the most part, but I do not care much for the amount of cracks and spiked edges in "The Witcher III" font. I really like the subtle image of the mask in the "III" though.

Actualy CD in the company name doesn't originate from Compact Disk but it's an abbreviation of Centrum Dystrybucyjne (Distribution Centre).

CD Projekt founders Kicinski and Iwinski started with small booth at computer market in Warsaw - in early 90s that was the place to go to buy pirated everything. They were one one of the first to try more "civilised" way of doing things, with importing original games, marketing and localizing them. Over the years, as they grew, main focus of the company was distribution of games, movies etc, and they still are doing it in Poland (now focused more on digital, and rebranded as cdp.pl). CDP RED was more like thing on the side, they basically acquired Witcher license and then had to do "something" with it.

Pretty funny, that eventually, CDPR with Witcher 2 (ok, GOG success helped a lot too) ended up saving whole company from bankruptcy at some point in time. I think people outside Poland really don't understand, how rough was the company's situation between first two Witchers.

Yeah, this was well explained in this presentation:

As well as this fantastic article on EG:

Why did they choose a cardinal for their logo? Do they even have cardinals in Poland?

Why not read OP?

Here's the new logo :

What seems a like slightly different Geralt design, at least in terms of hairstyle :

Here's old Geralt and Logo for quick comparison :

Shinobi me if old.

On my Facebook feed cdp.pl posted the Geralt's face and commented "Geralt is getting ready for E3".

So yeah, gameplay footage on E3 100% confirmed.

Just marathoned 1 and 2 over the past week or so, beat the second one tonight actually, and I'm really excited for this game. I can't wait to actually hop on a horse to get to where I'm going.
