The girl and I have ended up with tomorrow and Monday off, and the weather appears to be ideal to hit Cedar point tomorrow night and all day Monday, and I know GAF is a big fan of the place, so I figure you'll know the best way to go be it which of their "resort" places to book with, or whether another route would be best. So GAF, how should we go about doing this to get the beat bang for our buck? Go!

I've never stayed at a hotel around the park. All I can suggest is to get into the park early so that you can ride all the great stuff without contending with lines. Then ride them all again later.

Yeah, don't stay in the park, or even in a hotel in Sandusky, if you can help it. Also, head to the back rides first, as most people will get right in line for the closest rides (the Raptor in particular).

To save on money once in the park, pack sandwiches and snacks and leave them in the picnic area right outside the entrance (I've never had a problem with people stealing food). You have to leave the park proper to get to the picnic area, but it's not a big deal to get your hand stamped for re-entry.

Also, vendors are required to give you cups of water if you ask for it. Some of the vendors aren't equipped to do this, but there will be one that is nearby. It beats paying $3.50 - $5.00 for water!

I wish I could give you some advice on lodging, but I've never stayed at one of the resorts. I've always made either single day trips or stayed at a friend's house in the Sandusky area.

I stayed there. It was pretty good and not that expensive. You're only going to sleep there so all it needs is a bed and a shower. Get to the park 30 minutes before it opens and stand around with the other 5000 people who think they're as smart as you. If you're going for 2 days you should have no problem hitting all the coasters and some of the other rides, so don't stress it too much.

The biggest lines I found were at top thrill dragster, millennium force and maverick.

Edit: also, don't eat inside the park. There's a decent sit down bbq place right outside the park that will cost you less than a burger and fries inside.
