Celebrities Are Donating To Planned Parenthood In Mike Pence's Name

Trump has said he will ban abortion after 20 weeks, only nominate anti-choice justices to the Supreme Court, is refusing to fund Planned Parenthood, and said that there should be "some sort of punishment" for women seeking abortion if it was outlawed. He's also said he will repeal Obamacare, which gives women access to contraception.

Meanwhile, Mike Pence has said he wants to see Roe v. Wade, the landmark case which legalised abortion, "consigned to the ash heap of history." He's also voted 38 out of 38 times against reproductive freedom.

And now celebrities are decrying Trump and Pence's stance on women's reproductive rights. Over the weekend Katy Perry publicly donated $10,000 to Planned Parenthood.

What a genius idea

Make sure to make it in Pence's name

Trump would probably just claim it as a charitable donation on his taxes and think nothing of it otherwise

It's great they are getting donations but does this actually accomplish anything other than shaming him? I doubt he feels shame about it anyway.

It is to anger Pence I would imagine, be naive to think he'd feel shame over something like this.

This does run the worry that poking the bear will result in him holding harder and harder to his beliefs and trying to affect change in the country regarding them.

I think some well deserving charities getting a spike (hopefully more permanent than that) in donations following this election is one of the very VERY few positive outcomes you have.

Why not send letters instead that best articulate the pro-Choice position? This is the equivalent of signing up to porn using his email address; it is infantile; it is immature and demeans the entire debate surrounding abortion.

Because Pence does not care about your position due to his outdated religious doctrine.

I don't get how anyone who has followed Pence's career thinks a letter can educate him on the benefits of pro choice.

This is a man who openly enforces forced birth in cases of incest, sexual assault, etc.

Kiii! at thinking that Mike "electrocute the gays to cure them of their gayness" Pence can be convinced with a well thought letter...

Additionally if you have Trump supporters in your family, a good Christmas gift would be the certificate of this donation (or to other organisations like pro-LGBT and pro-environment ones).

Go crazy, you trolling progressives. EDIT: And lol, thinking this is infantile. Poor PP, receiving money for nothing I guess.

Yeah making donations in his name is totally where it's gone too far and is demeaning... Are you God damn serious? Everybody rushing to come out of the woodwork lately.

At this rate, PP is going to erect a statue with Pence's likeness and people will wonder what the hell is happening.

I sincerely doubt any well-written defense of Planned Parenthood is going to change Mike Pence's mind. By all accounts he's an ideologue and his views on abortion are informed by his religious views, both of which are notoriously hard to change.

...Are people forgetting that donating to Planned Parenthood results in donating to Planned Parenthood?

This is an important organization that's going to need the support of the public more than ever going forward.

I'm all for political protest. But what happens if jesus gets confused and banishes him to limbo, where the unbaptised babies go?

Arrogant gaf. Now you're playing with someone's afterlife.
