Cell Phone as mp3 Player?

Anyone use their cell phone as their primary mp3 player?

I'm looking to get the Motorola v635, but I'm not sure if the mp3 playing capability is even comparable to a standalone player. What kind of battery life can I expect? What is the sound quality like? And how easy is it to transfer files?

If anyone has this phone or something similar, I would appreciate some impressions.

If they were a little less bulky, they'd be great.

I was looking at the Treo too, but its a bit pricey for me. The prices have come down, but it seems that to get a decent price on the unit you still have sign up for the data plans, and those are $50+ a month.

I wish my work would pay for it, but I'm afraid to ask my boss :(

I'm in Canada, and all the plans for data and voice are like $50 CAD. And the thing is I don't think I even really need wireless internet (though it would be sweet). I'd be more interested in the scheduling, video and music, and the camera functions of the Treo, which would just need synching with my computer.

But the price of the unit is still $700 without a plan, so thats out of the question.

Next week Apple will be introducing the iTunes phone, and it'll be available on Cingular. You may want to wait and see what it has to offer. They're holding an event on Wednesday, the 7th.

I second this opinion.

my Nokia 6620 can play MP4 (and MP3) out of the box.. but the only headset I have for it is a tinny bluetooth set that I wouldn't want to listen to music on, and the speaker on the phone is awful as well.. if anyone can recommend a quality pair of DKU-2 headphones I would consider it.. with a 1GB MMC.

itunes will be integrated intoa motorola and a nokia phone. sounds good but look at the other functionalities of the phone first. TREO all the way. you can still get a treo 600 cheap and minus the resolution and bluetoth movie rocord, its the same phone
