Can anyone recommend some music with cello(s)?

I'm looking for both the Yo-Yo Ma type, or just songs with cello in it.... as long as it isn't some melodramatic rock opera bullshit.

Thanks.

That's all you need.

You can't go wrong with any Bach suites. Any Yo Yo Ma, or Janos (sp?) Starker CD would give you a pretty good mix of composers and styles of music.

If you're looking for songs with just a little Cello, McCartney's Live and Let die has a short solo, and Bush's Glycerine has some.

There's also a String Quartet Tribute to Pearl Jam out there, if you're looking for that sort of thing. It's decent - if you like PJ.

If you mean classical, I wholeheartedly recommend this, particularly the Starker; his Cello Suites are overall the best I've heard. I don't care for Yo Yo Ma's renditions. But you might. Also of course Casals and Rostropovich. The latter did many recordings with the Berlin Philharmonic which are wonderful. Whatever you do, avoid those goofy "OMG The Most Like Totally Cool Relaxing Music To Make Your Baby Smart" compilations; they offer the blandest, most generic recordings. The performer will begin to matter as much to you as the composer.
