Charging the GB Micro

Mejilan

Running off of Custom Firmware
I noticed that when the GB Micro is plugged in, those cool as shit Select & Start light-up-letters glow blue. At some point, they shut off. I imagine when it's done charging.

But what exactly tells you when the battery is dying? (Don't feel like reading the manual.)

The lights turn red.

So cool. Thanks a lot. The Select & Start buttons remind me of the Moto RAZR phone. Hot!!

In other news. I loveses my Microses!

Edit - Another question. Today, I busted out my new Graphite GBA SP v2. I plugged SFA3 Upper into both the Micro and the SP v2. (Micro looked better, IMHO.) However, I noticed that for some reason, on my SP v2, I could NOT pull off a QCF (fireball) motion, though I could do a QCB without a problem. Swapped the game into the Micro, and I had no problem doing QCFs and QCBs. Is my new SP v2 d-pad borked? Seems like it's not hitting the down-right diagonal at all.

Damn Gamestop. Delayed shipment of my micro until next week. I can't freaking wait to get my hands on this thing.

It's a great piece of hardware. I love it. My NA version of Micro also came with a pouch, which I find is handy and provides extra screen portection for when I throw my micro into my pocket with my keys.

Edit: Is there a hardwired sleepmode on Micro is does it depend on software?

Damn you! :lol
I'll have it in a few days. Should pick up my SP v.2 graphite in about a week as well. There goes most of my paycheck.

Coincidentally, it's harder for me to do a pound stomp in Yoshi's Island on my new SP than on my micro.

Button-wise, the micro is superior to the SP.

EDIT: When it comes the GB micro and the iPod nano, scale pics are worthless. :lol :D

Here's my micro. With EB bonus gear. The micro case looks nice but its a piece of shit.

The pouch that came with the micro is really nice though. Wish Nintendo put a logo on it, but then again, maybe they didn't want people stealing when people have their gbm pouches hanging around their hads in public.

How anybody can pay more for this over an enhanced GBA SP is beyond comprehension.

micro + playyan > gba sp + playyan

EDIT: When it comes the GB micro and the iPod nano, scale pics are worthless.

That's my next purchase. probably next week.

I have the same model SP v2 and control works perfectly for me. So it definitely isn't a design feature.. =)

How are the brightness levels on the Micro? Haven't really seen anyone talk about that yet.

great. lowest brightness is more than enough for indoor play. I count 5 brightness settings. The highest brightness setting doesn't wash out the picture either. It just makes the light more intense.

Hold L and hit up and down on the volume control.

Edit: I'm liking the volume/brightness control scheme.

So that's how it's done. :lol

Since my Famicom micro has Japanese instructions, I couldn't figure that part out. Thanks Deku!

Ahhh, figured out what's wrong with my GBA SP v2. The... knob thing that's supposed to buffer the middle of the d-pad, so that no more than 1 direction is "pressed" at once is not there. Blech. Definitely taking it for an exchange tomorrow.

Damn that thing is hot...does anyone know how Emulators look on there? I'm a little concerned that the NES games might look a bit more squished.

how are you guys taking the the Micro's shoulder buttons?? I find it difficult to press 'em on my FamicomMicro ----- I'm a side-presser on shouldter buttons, that's always worked nicely on the SP ------ but the micro shoulders are spongy unless you press near the middle.

For those one the fence about SP+ vs. GBAmicro
the 5 clicks on the micro are all great, but the new SP seems about a click or 2 above the micro on full brightness ----- that, and color is extremely/outstandingly neutral on the SP - reds are more vibrant as ever allong with other colors. The Micro still has a slight cool/blue hue to its light.
Also, i've noticed the micro screen-pixels are slightly 'grainy' when cut to black... donno if this is because of reflections... but my tablet PC has this a bit, because it's relatively the same dpi with its compressed resolution but it's barely noticable.
The micro's viewing angle is pretty damn good, but the SP+ is on par with PSP's viewing angle.

Still nothing compares to the compressed resolution on the micro :) --- the metal frame and all --- when you hold it, it feels like what portable games should be.

Any of you guys figure out how to unhinge the faceplates? I can't read Japanese, I can't get the left side uncliped.

They made the INSIDES of the Micro's shoulder buttons clickable because you're supposed to wrap your fingers all along the top of the system. Had they made the Micro's shoulder buttons outside-clickers instead, your fingers (too long for the system), would have to be uncomfortably positioned.

IMHO, anyway.

Regarding the faceplates. I believe you have to use that plastic tool and jab the two prongs into the left side of the Micro, to the left of the D-Pad.

It'd be nice if Nintendo would offer a way to make custom faceplates, as all the ones I've seen thus far are pretty ass. I'm guessing certain games will come with themed faceplates as pre-orders or pack-ins, which will be great. Also, if I were to import a Play-Yan, can it be modified to have an English UI?

Just noticed, mine doesn't have the knob either (just checked it against an older SP) - does anyone else have this problem? Crap, I hope this isn't a universal design change with every v2. If so, that sucks...

Pretty sure it's a flaw. I remember a few months ago, one of our more prominent posters had an identical problem with their DS. He too thought it might have been a design change, but a slew of us were quick to analyze our own DS systems and determined otherwise.

Swapped out my faulty Graphite GBA SP v2 with a new one. Same problem. Looks like all of the GBA SP v2s are borked??

Probably just a design factor. Since the controls and such are not exactly the same, games will be played differently between models.

Maybe you should bust out the original GBA and see which of the two light GBA models the original resembles the most.

Have you tried with yours? Pressing two opposing directions down at the same time?

I used to be able to play SFA3 WITHOUT any problems on my GBA, GBA SP v1, and DS. I still can on the Micro. But with the new GBA SP v2, it almost feels like I'm playing on a PSP. Not quite as bad, but not what I'm used to.

I was going to ask whether you guys would recommend a micro or a SPv2 to someone (me) who still has two original (wide) GBAs. However, it seems SPv2s have crap dpads and the micro screen is smaller than a GBA cartridge!

Retailers will be getting Micros between the 23rd and the 27th, most leaning towards the latter end. And yes, for GBA games, Micros cannot be beat, IMHO.
