Sony Pictures is developing a big screen Charlie’s Angels reboot, The Wrap reports. What’s more, they’ve got actress turned Pitch Perfect 2 helmer Elizabeth Banks in negotiations to take the reins on the franchise as the film’s director. If all goes according to plan, Banks will also produce the new film alongside her husband, Max Handelman.

Looking to ride off her success with Pitch Perfect 2...
Elizabeth Banks for Captain Marvel?

She should also star because she's one of the funniest actresses in Hollywood.

edit: they should get the action choreographer from John Wick.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
Is she a good director?

oh elizabeth banks

that actrees I liked that suddenly was ok with the god awful unforgiveable racism in Pitch Perfect 2

Imbarkus

As Sartre noted in his contemplation on Hell in No Exit, the true horror is other members.
Already technically a re-reboot, yes?

For real?

it was her directorial debut and it featured a latino character cracking constant dead-silence completely lazy jokes about being deported and killed / kidnapped and how shitty and deadly dangerous life is in her home country

first joke in the whole film is a green card joke

she does some dance and there comes the line "looks like she just earned her green card"

literally the first thing spoken in it

I think spoken by elizabeth banks btw

Banks didn't write the movie.

I think it would be presumptious to say that "she is ok with racism" because she directed a film that had racist jokes. She didn't make Birth of a Nation 2.

I never said she's ok with racism

I just said the jokes are racist and just really poor form and if she wasnt cool with em she never expressed it

so she was either ok with the racist jokes (considering she both directed them and spoke them) or she was a studio puppet with no input over something like that and didnt care to put her name on there

either way; she's a shit director so far

good luck being as good as the first one. the cast in that rocked (freakin bill murray bosley, sam rockwell going from nerd to swagged out bad guy)

and it was pretty fun. amazed how much I enjoyed a McG movie. never again.

It'd be a popular choice, but I wonder if that means they're taking less of a serious tone with this iteration? The 2000s reboot felt like a very generic action film. Maybe this is a bit lighter in tone, and plays into the retro camp of the original series?

If you combine the feel-good girl-power nature of the Pitch Perfect franchise with some solid comedy/action, that sounds like a pretty great way to revive the concept.

You found the re-makes to lack camp? Serious tone! Is this your day-to-day life?

The remakes were silly, campy, hacky and wall to wall comically fake action scenes. What are the generic action movies you are comparing it to?

And yet all of that was perfectly in tune with the characters they were playing.

Funny how you only single out the Racist Humour, yet fail to mention the wildly sexist Humour in it.

You should see Walk of Shame, I'd like to imagine she wrote it.

Basically the whole movie is this dumb white bitch's first day as a news anchor. She fucks Cyclops and ends up in a new area she is unfamiliar with. Her car is towed. She proceeds to be unable to use a phone of any sort, and have men ask her to suck their dicks for every request, and cops warn her for being such a whore, all while a fat Armenian cabby wants to kill her for not sucking dick or being a stripper while she attempts to cross town.

...no I'm not joking.

It's been awhile since I've seen the films, but I always remembered them being sold as very typical action fare. They were big budget summer movies. I think what I'm picturing is something between Pitch Perfect and retro Bond.

The concept of a very self-serious Charlie's Angels reboot JUST bombed on TV. Why go back to that exact same well?

Should watch the first again, there was a lot of humor in there. It was almost a parody of Charlie's angels

Oh snap plus it had crispin glover and Tim curry too. The casting for everyone involved in that made for a really fun action movie

I highly doubt this matches up to it in any way
