How correct or incorrect do you think this statement is?

Communism calls for a violent overthrow of the government in power for the good of the working class. Ends justified the means as Cuba gained independance and achieve Communism which Che and allies were striving for. Like Che said he'd even kill christ if he stood in his way, Che was/is a war hero who's fortitude was without question and he was strong in his convictions. That is why people like him.

I'm questioning the first sentence. Does communism really require this? For some reason, I thought communism just required a revolution of the proletariat, regardless whether it is violent or not.

vi·o·lent Audio pronunciation of "violent" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (v-lnt)
adj.

1. Marked by, acting with, or resulting from great force: a violent attack.
2. Having or showing great emotional force: violent dislike.
3. Marked by intensity; extreme: violent pain; a violent squall. See Synonyms at intense.

4. Caused by unexpected force or injury rather than by natural causes: a violent death.
5. Tending to distort or injure meaning, phrasing, or intent.

No overthrowal of the bourgeois by the proletariat can be achieved through passive actions. The whole point is that the proletariat takes control.

All right, that's very clear now. Thanks.

New movie out about him called the "Motorcycle Diaries", probably why you are seeing so much of him lately. I don't know too much about his political views, but it was a pretty good movie.

It's like all the people here in Toronto who wear John Deere shirts who have probably never even seen a tractor.

I thought he was a martyr-type deal or something, guess his time was quite a while ago then
Well he was killed. So he did become a martyr, and reall this wasn't very long ago. I mean Fidel Castro was his co leader. and he's still alive.

I hate fads like this among youngsters here in the US...

what a sham, selling t-shirts, with companies making a good $16 margin of each sale...

If this was a homemade, word-of-mouth deal where people knew who he was and what he stood for that would be one thing, but when make a corporate mockery (as I see it) out of someone who probably was a populist, pro-peasant type figure, the irony if just nuts...

and to think some young people won't even see through it and just go along out of "fad" mentality...

no offense Jim Bowie, looks like you know about him, but I mean if what others here indicate is correct, you're an exception...

Hmmm I don't know but that sounds more like trotskism than communism although some times communism requires a revolution, but not always.

PS. I find it hard to believe that some people don't know who he is. He is a damn hero for his country the entire Latin America and many of us who still have ideals.

None taken. Lots of kids just think it's fashionable.

Once, when I was walking home from work, I saw this girl with an anarchy sign on her t-shirt. I took a risk and talked to her, and asked her what her shirt was. She said, "Oh, it's the anarchy sign. It means, y'know, rock on, or something."

Where's the crying purple thing when you need it.

The town in which he was executed is making a ton of money off tourism. Many of the tourists or followers are visiting Che's last steps, kind of like traveling through the stations of the cross.
