"We have no competing fighting chance against China in 15 to 20 years. Right now, it’s already a done deal; it is already over in my opinion," he told the newspaper. "Whether it takes a war or not is kind of anecdotal."
China was set to dominate the future of the world, controlling everything from media narratives to geopolitics, he said.
Chaillan blamed sluggish innovation, the reluctance of U.S. companies such as Google (GOOGL.O) to work with the state on AI and extensive ethical debates over the technology.
I remember reading an article that mentioned that China could detect masked protesters in the Hong Kong riots using AI that analyzed the gait of people from surveillance cameras on the streets. That is an unethical use of AI, but highly effective if you are an authoritarian government.
China can now identify a citizen based on their walk
This gait recognition software can't be fooled, claims its creator.

What do you think GAF? Should the US ignore ethical concerns and pursue AI/cyber security research in order to have a chance at fending off future foreign attacks? Or is this just propaganda for the US government to acquire such control and achieve totalitarian objective?
