When I played Gujian 3, the gameplay always reminded me more of Witcher 3 rather than any Souls game. But if you see 3rd person action game with sword and go straight to Soulslike.. maybe people need to play more games, or stop parroting

Japan and the west have had several decades to expand on their game design. Like I said, for most of these Chinese studios, it's literally their first AAA game... and LOOK AT IT. The talent in China is unmatched.

Give them time. See what they do after multiple games. After a decade of AAA game design. They will be cooking unlike anyone else.

I agree about giving them time, but everything else remains to be seen.

They can produce games for the market, i have no doubt about that. Given the cost of labor they can make big games for not too much money that look expensive. It was the same for Poland at one point. Just don't think it's going to get us anywhere, it's just going to be more modern patchwork games.

But i'll be fine with having those games as replacement for the shitty Ubisoft games we were getting every year, it's more to my taste. I just don't think it's going to be much more than that.

For sure, not saying others aren't guilty as well. We've just recently had a slew of these 3rd person action games and they all kind of have a similar look in my head.
