Chrono Trigger is still to this day my favorite game of all time as well.
If you're one of the few who has forgotten this masterpiece somehow, maybe you just need to be reminded.

If you've never played it, you should know that you're missing out on one of the greatest entertainment/art creations ever. There is very little doubt in my mind that
Chrono Trigger gave me the most engrossing and enchanting videogame hours of my life, and I still can't seem to stop myself from returning to it annually to experience it all over again. It's just an awesome, awesome game, and I simply can't find anything wrong with it.
Nearly ten years ago it was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and no one ever expected it to make such an impact.
Chrono Trigger -- a game that had literally
everything. Considered by many to be the single greatest game ever created. Arguably more captivating and emotional than anything created since for any system.
As many games as I play (and that's
a lot), whether I'm reviewing them or just enjoying myself, I still haven't found myself returning to the way I felt the first time I played Chrono Trigger, and the way I still feel each time I replay it. It's a game that truly doesn't get old.
A group of developers passionately referred to as "The Dream Team" are responsible for this masterpiece. The Dream Team consists of:
Hironobu Sakaguchi of the Final Fantasy series (now leader of Mistwalker)
Yuji Horii of the Dragon Quest series
Akira Toriyama (character designer for Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Quest)
Yasunori Mitsuda of Xenogears (a musical wizard, to say the least)
Nobuo Uematsu of the Final Fantasy series
...and more.
So many varied environments, and such a compelling, mystifying storyline. Characters with more charm than all of Final Fantasy X's cast combined. And the music... don't even get me started on the music. The word
inspiring comes to mind.
Multiple endings, many hidden far away in the depths of the game. No random battles. Some of the most epic and captivating locations and themes in any game to date, and a number of elements that have been copied (or, at least, attempted to be copied) in more recent games.
A main character that never speaks, but still has such a strong personality. Good guys who are bad, and bad guys who are good. And, maybe most importantly, the sensation of starting off just having fun with some friends, only to embark on a magnficient adventure to save the world from an impending evil 999 years into the future.
What a game. This game
literally had it all. If you haven't played it, your life is not complete.
Maybe that's why it sells for so much these days.
