Was expecting one of those multiplayer games, but its a single player survival horror instead

Looks absolutely fucking incredible. A single player survival horror game based on Hellraiser. With visual design reminiscent of the original trilogy, Doug Bradley returning as Pinhead and the original musical score. Holy shit this one is day zero 🔥

Video is NSFW for those that care.
Still not sure how this game will work within the premise of Hellraiser, which is not really an action franchise. Guess you will be battling through the Hellraiser dimension?
Visuals do look suitably disturbing - hope they can pull it off.

Man, sorry but that looked cringe AF, from the edginess to the mid as fook character models to...

Yes, it's Clive Barker so it's supposed to be edgy and Uber gory but this trailer did absolutely nothing for me - in contrast to that ILL trailer released not long ago.

Looks outstanding, and I honestly can't believe it's a thing. I couldn't be more in if I tried, this is a dream game for me.

Huh, I'm surprised. A Hellraiser single player survival horror game, it doesn't use the cenobites of the 2022 reboot, with pretty graphic sexual and violent content and it looks...good? I'm not gonna lie, I'm very fucking interested right now.

Cool, will remain cautiously optimistic, been reading Clive Barker since I was a kid but we have yet to see something truly great based on his works (as far as videogames obviously).

Suck my pinhead

On a more serious note now, did you like those character models ? You find them adequate ? What about the (few) animations shown here ?
Yes, the positive is that it's not an asymmetrical multiplayer game but personally, I enjoyed what has been shown of ILL more.

Opinions eh ? 😉

Edit : no matter what, sex scenes in Vidjya always make me cringe, they're immersion breaking, stupid and unneeded (although I could make the case that the same stands for movies/TV series nowadays).

Sex is a major part of Hellraiser. You're seriously more okay with people being flayed alive and decapitated than getting it on?

Bradley back, single player, looks awesome.

Have you seen any of the movies? Read the book? Pretty much what happens, to some degree.
I was thinking more of a real life comparison.
Who in their right mind would interrupt sex to play with a puzzle? It's unrealistic.

I saw all the movies, but they were intentionally goofy, it doesn't translate as well to a video game where sex is mostly cringe since it can't fully capture the moods and environments.

I wouldn't say 1 and 2 were intentionally goofy. Intentionally campy to some degree, yeah, like low budget campy operatic.

It's just unrealistic in the sense that 1) it's a horror game/movie, and 2) you're likely not a drug addict sado-masochist seeking the ultimate extremes of pain and pleasure. Maybe you are, though, no judgement.

I normally agree with you on the sex scenes in games, they almost never work. That being said, sex is so essential to the story of Pinhead that it's absence would immediately make it feel like an unfaithful knock off, so it has to be here. BDSM, torture, taboo, perversion, and the intertwining of pain and pleasure are central themes to the series, so they're completely essential here.

And yeah, the prerendered models sucked, (ha), but the in game stuff looked fine for me.

This went from being a complete write off for me (thinking it would be another shitty MP game) to probably day one. That looked very good.
I'm glad it's not online only multiplayer too. I didn't bother with the Ft13th and TCM games. A single player survival horror TCM game did sound awesome and terrifying. I don't want to bother with mp anymore. I'm happy it isn't the Jericho level of cringe either. Cool at the time, but Jericho was nonsense.

The Hellbound Heart is still one of my favorite horror stories I've ever read. Highly recommend it over the movie franchise to anyone, it's only 120 pages or something.

The start of this trailer was rough but I am curious about the gameplay. Evil Dead was fun gameplay-wise so I think they can cobble together decent mechanics.

In this case it cannot be any immersion breaking since its true to the franchise. Sex, gore, chains, pain.

It's setting the tone to let people know from the start.

"uhh let's play with this puzzle box while we fuck!"
.......really?
its a video game its not suposed to be realistic

we live in a crazy world where people choose their pronouns and can identify any gender they want , i think playing with a puzzle box during sex is less crazy than that
