I've played stuff on xcloud and it's fine but these are depressing news if it means it's the future. Maybe the tech will become so good that we won't be able to tell how low-res and laggy the games are.

They're not dead, just scattered to the wind. Or the clouds.2.4Bn of dead dollars according to GAF
I think that most consumers especially younger ones dont seemingly to care about ownership and preservation. They may age into having those priorities.Even if they do fix these technical issues, the ownership/preservation issues remain. And these are the most important ones.
What in the name of the Holy Ghost does VRR has to do with streaming videogames?Nearly 100 percent growth year and year.
We are about to become extinct aren't we
Will be years of complaining and taking the piss like VRR until every company people have a care for are doing it....then it will be accepted and praised I bet.

Oh, now I get it. so the extra R was a typo.I was just trying to say that tech that people actually use seem to enjoy it and think its great and there's a whole group of none users screaming that it's pointless and to shut up about it. Then they get to try it and it wraps up in their daily usage and they finally come around to how good it can be. Hope that makes sense.
My total spend this year on "cloud" gaming -$0
I'm just jiveing mate.My total spend this year on "cloud" gaming -$0
Times are changing for sure and if the technology demonstrates an equivalent experience then I'm more than happy to eat crow. That time is not now though. Most of these users are in Asia/Pacific where spending £500 on a piece of hardware is simply not within reach for many users. I am happy more people get to experience games.
They're talking about rolling blackouts in the UK for up to 3 hours at a time this winter which hopefully will not happen. However, it raises the point of the matter, it doesn't matter if you are playing locally or in the cloud if you ain't got any power. Crazy times we are in. I am not anti-cloud in any way, I have just yet to see the evidence to make me get on board.
most mediums already switched to non ownership distribution modells. Concerts/spotify, cinema/netflix. There are some who enjoy buying there CD or Vinyl and BR 4k movie, but owning or renting art/entertainment won't go back to old levels. Gaming is just last in that development since it was the only medium where it was the only way of having it, coin machines where the equivalent of concerts and cinema and thank god we don't have them anymore. Since gaming is still rather particular in its requirements streaming is not as easy but once they figure out a price structure and how to sell it for the masses, not for the enthusiast who wants the best experience, it should be good enough for many. The tech is already good enough in most countries, at least in the denser areas.I think that most consumers especially younger ones dont seemingly to care about ownership and preservation. They may age into having those priorities.
