Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection Trailer (spoilers for other seasons in here)

Last fall, it was announced that the Code Geass series was getting a new instalment. Details are scant, but it’s apparently set after several years after the second season, namely in the wake of Lelouch vi Britannia’s “Zero Requiem” plan.

I thought Lelouch was dead for sure, but I'm ready for this. I have really fond memories of the first two seasons.

Looks pretty, I wonder what on earth the plot is going to be about though- I felt by the end the world was pretty much tied up with a big bow as "resolved" (well ancient profound mysteries aside)

I don't think anything can match the fun I had in the wild ride for watching R2 week to week ever again though. Jeezus

When I was younger, I was 100% opposed to a sequel because I didn't want them to ruin the "sanctity" of the original ending. Upon a resent rewatch I realized how brilliant stupid Code Geass actually was from beginning to end, and i'm ready for more nonsense.

How is this show pronounced

Is it Code Gee Ass, Gay Ass, Jee Ass?

Also, Code Lyoko was better then this sequel series!
you now remember how awful Code Lyoko was.

I absolutely abhorred the last four or so episodes. It seems the consensus on this show is that much of the second season is a train wreck but it makes up some ground near the end; my buddies and I fall outside that spectrum, because we thought it was OK and then it sucked, sucked, sucked.

I kinda lost all goodwill toward this show after that. I doubt I'll tune in. But I'm happy for the fans. <3

I suppose it can't get any worse after the complete fuckery that was R2's final episodes.

Actually it can definitely get worse and will probably somehow be even stupider than R2. Guess I'll check it out when the dub comes, provided Funimation doesn't replace the LA cast for an in-house dub.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

On one hand, it's more content on one of my absolute favorite pieces of media ever, featuring one of the most amazing and relatable protagonists ever.

...on the other hand, as much as I loved ALL of Code Geass, I thought the ending was AMAZIING and PERFECT and I fear that adding more would just lessen that...

Code Lyoko was the shit.
Even that concept vid Garage Kids looked cool at the time.

Also glad to see this is still coming. After seeing the original japanese ending scene, I needed more.

E/ I keep forgetting that the scene is a supposed fake.
Still, even with the actual ending and knowing how everything works within the story, I always had hope.

When the second season ended I was still a teen and still into anime. Not sure if I'd find it any interesting this time around so I'm kinda hesitant.

One thing about Code Geass that I always appreciated though, was its pacing. The show really didn't waste your time (outside of a few eps) with the same grossly overplayed tropes that slow 99% of anime down to a crawl. If they keep that same pacing for this then I think it'll be a decent time at the very least.

Before I got into anime I legit though Code Geass was Code Lyoko but just said differently when I first heard of it.

I see Susaku is still performing his crazy aerobics XD

Still can't get enough from this scene lol.

Damn I'm hyped for this, but mostly to hear Johnny Young Bosch back as Lelouch.

Code Geass was the only series I've actually ever hate-watched to its bitter end. Goddamn, what a terribly written show full of loathsome characters, but I couldn't stop.

Don't think I'll be in this time.

I disagree. It was plainly obvious what Lelouch was up to for almost the entire second season. We just had to watch him being a complete dick to everyone around him for a dozen episodes to set up the "twist" ending. Rarely does it feel like a show is actively, purposefully trying to waste my time like Code Geass S2 did.

So long as we get another glorious train-wreck I am in.

Yup, ending was good, but tbh, Code Geass is popcorn viewing material, it's fun to just take in and accept the events that are happening and the overly dramatic voices (specifically Lelouch's) and music (music is pretty damn great). Main reason why season 3, no matter how it is, will probably satisfy me

WTF, who is Lelouch gonna fight?

The world is at peace because of his "death" during the finale of S2.

Him coming back would undo everything he tried to accomplish.

D:

+1

By bet is terrorists specifically trying to ruin the peace he established, particularly by taking up the mantle of Zero since
Suzaku doesn't have the costume himself for some reason in the trailer
, implying they can't use it for whatever reason. Bombings are a very obvious visual reference to the archetype in play here.

Sounds like you were watching it for the wrong reasons lol. Right from season 1 the show was terribly written. Pretty much all the fun was in the hilariously contrived ways in which they got to their plot points.

Was getting caught part of your plan?

Dunno about you guys, but my 8th grader self took all of it waaaaaaaay to seriously back then.

I wasn't asking for this but there are definitely a number of valid and even interesting ways to continue the story. The peace wasn't meant to be definitive and new reasons for conflict aren't hard to find. If those ways happen to be over-the-top and entertaining enough, which is what matters to much of the audience, then that's good enough for a start. That said, it's too soon to get too excited. We probably won't see the sequel until at least 2018.

I'd argue this thread is living proof that there is ultimately no "wrong" way to watch Code Geass, at least if you're still enjoying it. Which, one way or another, covers most of the people posting here. Even Sunrise isn't going to say no free publicity, whether you happen to think the series is good, bad or just somewhere in between.

For instance, I think the writing threw caution and realism to the wind but was still good at a couple of key things, which included playing up the craziness and silliness of the more over-the-top developments (the staff wasn't taking everything too seriously to begin with) at the expense of proper form, yet also did some interesting stuff with the characters (mainly Lelouch) that's better than what the overly cynical or nihilistic views are willing to consider. Thus why the ending actually worked out in a few legit ways and ties back to earlier themes.

So I still think the best way to watch Code Geass is to stay near the middle of the spectrum, relax and let the extremes fight it out.

I hope we get more of the Chinese in this one, they were the coolest nation

Even if it's supposedly years later, I'm afraid the characters will look and act the same.
I'd love to see it slightly more grown up.

Geass was never really about being a coherent story to me. The focus was how ridiculously stupid and haaaaaam they would dare to go. So I'm open for seeing another season of just that.

I bet the story is someone trying to impersonate Lelouch, and the real deal needing to step in to deal with it.

The only reason a sequel should be happening is if they'd managed to come up with a scene that outdoes the Euphienator.

I'd probably watch it. R2 was a mess but in an entertaining way. I remember fondly my times in /a/ and /m/ with the spinzaku, Charles, Jibun woooo and quariti animation memes.

who gave you the idea?
cc was talking to someone on the cartwheel..
and the other guy was incredibly lulouch like.. and it made sense!
Lelouch planned the final charade.. he gave the world an enemy to hate in order to re-unite it, and then retired into oblivion with cc..
oh well, we'll see how it will unfold..

i'll always remember this..
