Colbert sees a surge, has now surpassed Fallon for #1 late-night talk show

Good! Maybe it's because I always watch his videos on YouTube but they seem to consistently get a million views for the most part.

Corden is the worst. Just dreadful. Lowest common denominator humor.

Haha. I thought you were responding to the second post I made. It's still early!

Yeah, Corden is hot garbage. The shit speaks for itself.

Fallon was OK, sometimes amusing. Then he did that bit with Trump. Since then I have made a point to avoid Fallon. He's garbage for doing that. Sounds like he's continuing to go soft on Trump, so he deserves to see his ratings fall.

I really wish The Roots were on a better late night show. I want to support them but can't stomach anything else in that show outside of them.

Fallon is ok, but he doesn't really seem to have any real personalty. Dude is a blank slate.

I watch the programs regularly. I still like his Tonight Show. That being said, I don't think he a great comedian or quick witted. His show relies on a good vibe and atmosphere for his guests and it works well enough.

It's helps a great deal that he has The Roots as his house band. While his program feels significantly more forced, Corden also has Reggie Watts.

The Roots clearly deserve a better show. One of the better rap groups is stuck on Fallon's show at least they get paid

Conan is still the best of late night

Conan > Colbert > Jon Oliver > Sam Bee > Trevor Noah >>>>>>>>> Jimmy Kimmel >> Jimmy Fallon

I thought Colbert's show was a bit rough around the edges when it was new, but I've started watching again recently and notice a marked improvement. Happy to hear ratings improved.

Jimmy Fallon is the epitome of failing upwards.

Dude lucked out Lorne loved him so much otherwise he would've been a 1 and done SNL castmember.

Did you know he liked saved by the bell?

I think it is a case of mediocrity being rewarded. Dude is Leno for a new generation

Good. Fallon is terrible and this is waaaay before his heavy petting moment with Trump.

This is also likely because Colbert now has Brian Stack, who is secretly--

THE FUNNIEST MAN ON LATE NIGHT TV.

Pretty much. I believe he also does Cartoon Trump's voice. He's an all around gifted man and definitely had a hand in bringing fire to Colbert's show as of late.

I say without shame, that if Colbert ever ran for a public office, I'd vote for him.

Well deserved. I feel like he's one of the few TV personalities that "gets it".

For you.
Are you serious? What a silly reason to dislike someone... Was he supposed to be a dick to him on national TV? Man.. people and their hatred is weird
Inviting a huge racist piece of shit to your show and then start talking to him and playing around like you are best friends is pretty fucking gross.

I've been watching Colbert for a very VERY long time. Me and my dad would always sit down to watch the latest episode when I was young (and I mean VERY young) and I feel like he was one of the major factors in developing my political moral compass in my youth.

I can not put in to words how happy I am that he has not backed off from anything political as of late. While other talk shows are refusing to comment or trying to avoid discussing these issues we need to be discussing, he's always right there, day 1, with his take.

He's not perfect, of course, but he will always be my favorite talk show host. Go Steven!

Deserved. Show isn't nearly as sharp as The Colbert Report but it's been steadily improving and has of course always been miles better than Fallon. Also good to see that enabling and normalizing Trump appears to be costing Fallon.

GOAT rankings:

Late Night with Conan O'Brien* > The Colbert Report > The Late Show with David Letterman > The Daily Show with Jon Stewart > Conan > Late Show with Stephen Colbert > The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson > Late Night with Seth Meyers > Jimmy Kimmel Live! > The Daily Show with Trevor Noah >>> Late Late Show with James Corden >>> The Tonight Show with Jay Leno > Late Night with Jimmy Fallon > The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon

* Lumping in his short Tonight Show run

Letterman's late night NBC run was before my time, have seen too little of Wilmore and others.

(Current weekly shows: Bee > Oliver)

That's nice, politics have always been Colbert's forte. I liked to watch Colber report, even though comedy central hated anyone who was not american watching it in their website, but I didn't really find the Late Show funny enough, maybe I'll give it one more chance.

Great news, I've been watching the late show since the start of Colbert's run. Some things are still hit and miss but overall much better than his peers.

What the fuck are some of you going on about?

Fallon is objectively terrible by any measure. Empirical research supports that he is utter shit.

See: Fallon as the ultimate weak link in basically everything he's ever done.

Colbert started off a bit cold, a bit awkward...but has legit talent. Happy to see him recover his niche.

Conan is the greatest and when I think about the shit that went down between him and NBC that leads to him being on TBS it makes me sad.

It was only a matter of time before the show found its footing.

Corden's show has actually become pretty good, too. He has great writers. CBS nailed their late night refresh.
