I beat this game yesterday on PC and I gotta say it's better than any RE game I have ever played. The atmosphere was phenomenal; I loved the tanker level and thought it was done better than the MGS2 tanker level. Huge waves, cool rain effects, nice graphics.

The story was crap, the enemies were ok, music was great and the controls were ok too. It's 7/10 game, better than any RE game I have ever played.

edit: oh and I haven't played RE4. Just comparing this to the older RE's on PSX and DC/PS2 CVX.

I have the Xbox version. It's OK, I like the swaying motion of the boat and stuff. The aiming is a bit 'hit and miss' especially since your char blocks the view sometimes.

I also don't know if you get a map later on but right now I could use one with all the backtracking that's required.

It's actually more like Carrier than RE, to me.

Here's the thing, even if I buy it my sister won't let me play it. She watches too much TV; I don't get to spend a lot of time with my PS2 because of her. Also I am in Canada so it would be $200 +. Secondly, I am in a lot of debt right now. I can afford another console.

Cold Fear is Resident Evil 4 Lite. VERY lite.

I wouldn't even say it's the best RE Clone. That would go to Dino Crisis 1.

Don't stores let you rent consoles any more? Can't you borrow a Cube (Everyone seems to have them in their closets, collecting dust on GAF, after all)? RE4 is worth the effort!

Col Fear isn't too bad at all. It copies RE4's aiming system, yet keeps the camera work of the past games (unless you hold the L trigger down the whole time -- which I did). The game is a bit boring at times and the boss battles are non-existent. No puzzles, and not half as fun as RE4. It's a good game that clearly rips RE4 and the RE franchise in general, but RE4 pisses all over it and makes it its bitch.

Graphics are magnificent in places...shame the targetting system is so god awful. Wouldn't be so bad in a RE game, but the monsters / zombies are quite swift.

Obscure is a far better bet if your after a RE experience on Xbox.

RE1 remade & RE2 were great games better than a 7/10 and code veronica when released was a 9/10
