WHO DEY!?
If I had heard the first half of the album I'd say it is good but wish there were more songs like Don't Panic or Shiver.

Discussion of leaked whatever isn't really tolerated on the forums, unless it's leaked by legal means (i.e. iTunes).

I'm not a mod, but this is just for future reference.

Yes I think this is a bannable offence although maybe only a temp ban?

Really? I'm not a mod either but I remember extensive discussion of the new System of a Down cd, along with the last Nine Inch Nails album. I know for sure that game piracy is lock and ban kind of thing, but at least here in the OT concerning music, discussion of what has leaked is ok. Now providing links and shit.. I've never seen that go well.

You can stream it on Coldplay's official website, so I think this guy's safe.

I'm sure everyone can guess how I feel about Coldplay, so I won't comment.

Most threads of this nature are locked, but I mean if you can stream the album off the official site, it's all good.

For further future reference, when you say something is "leaked", for most people who are pirate-savvy, etc., it means that a ripping group has released the album to distro. It's also in advance of the release date, and all that jazz. Most importantly, at least for myself but I'm sure other posters can back me up, a leaked release is one that the label to which the album belongs does not want.

So, IMO, Coldplay's album hasn't been "leaked" if it's available to be streamed off the official site. Instead, it's just been officially pre-released, freely and legally available for listen. Next time pick a better thread title! :p

Discussion is allowed, just don't mention that it's pirated or where you got it, assuming it's not through legal channels. As long as you're discussing the actual content and not the hows and whys of accquring it, you're fine.

I've had a thread locked for asking what everyone thought of 50 Cent's last album when it was leaked. I never mentioned it was leaked or anything, just a thread named "50 Cent: The Massacre".

Boo!

Just jokes, I don't expect mods who volunteer their time to be 100% consistent with each other at all. Just wanted some clarification on the subject.

We have been discussing this issue, since it's one of the topics to be addressed in an updated Terms of Service. The bottom line is that there are legitimate ways to acquire an advance copy of games, movies, or music...just as there are illegal ways to acquire them as well. We don't know everyone personally, so all we have to go on is what is said.

Hint: Don't say that you have a pirated copy, or give people information about where/how to acquire it illegally.

Right on.

I've only listened to a few songs and I like it so far.

Edit: Listened to the rest of it. It's going to take a few more listens for the album to gel with me I think. Not a single track really stands out like some of their songs on previous records.

As it stands, it's just merely decent.

2nd Edit: I think I was being too kind. Meh.

From what I've heard so far, you should just listen to the Speed Of Sound single and call it a day. SOS and Thing I Don't Understand are two of the best tracks they've ever done. The rest of the tracks on X&Y are just kind of boring. Fix You is pretty good, though.

I really like Square One actually. All the Coldplay albums have had excellent opening tracks, something great in the middle, and then a good close, with plenty of filler... just my opinion :)

I can see myself liking this album more (much more, possibly) as time goes on. It just doesn't grab me like their other two albums did. Square One is good, I agree. It's just on cursory examination, the album seems to have a somewhat lifeless quality to it. I dunno. Hmm, White Shadows has a nice beat... I may be quickly changing my tune about this album...

Square One is certainly the best track. I dunno, I don't hate the album, but I'm defintely disappointed. It's good easy listening, but I don't forsee myself playing it all that much.

I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but I'm a big fan of Coldplay, and I'm definitely liking what I'm hearing so far.

You can. As stated earlier in the thread:

I like Coldplay's sound for what it is, but I do wish they'd attempt to flesh out and branch their sound out a bit more; that said, what's on the album is solid, but it won't go changing minds.

I just wanted some clarification on the subject. Don't get bent out of shape man, it's only fair to play by GAF's rules, after all this is a free forum.

This new one seems more like their first, but overall I'd say it sounds like U2 and Blondie mixed together. That's not a bad thing, but it is very different from their last one which is my favorite.

It peaked for me after about 4 or 5 listens and has already started to go down. The new Talk sounds really bad after a while. First track still sounds solid, and Fix You has that nice bit at the end, but some of the tracks really drag on.

The only complaint I have so far is that his voice in almost all of the songs is his high (note) voice, or like he's singing loud. The majority of my favorite Coldplay songs feature the lead singer using a lower voice, like in Trouble, In My Place, and so on, whereas pretty much every song on this disc, his voice is like that in Clocks when he sings, "YooooOOOoooOooouuuuu arrreeeee". I still like it, but I would've enjoyed a little more variation.

Still digging the songs though. So far this year has been up and down.

Queens of the Stone Age: Surprisingly AWESOME
Weezer: Surprisingly TERRIBLE
Stereophonics: Okay
System of a Down: Surprisingly good!
White Stripes: what the fuck
Audioslave: Bit of a letdown, but still good.
Coldplay: HOORAY

next up, Foo Fighters, lets fucking rock

Great King Bowser

Property of Kaz Harai
So what's with the different version of Talk?

I like both of them, but I'm leaning towards the old leak from weeks back, but maybe that's because I've had time to listen to it repeatedly.

I agree with Chris' lack of vocal range in this album, I've only listened up to Speed of Sound and it has all indeed been pretty high. I'm still digging it though.

Oasis is also out with a new alblum and I think is pretty good, much much better than their last one, Heathen Chemistry.

I'm listening to and it's pretty good. It's true that Chris's voice is too high at times but the album is pretty good. White Shadows and Square One are two of my favourites.

Coldplay are the new Dido. Who was the new Enya.

Their current single in the UK (beaten by a frog) just sounds like their last one, with a word changed in the chorus.

I'd like to add these

Dredg: F'ING INCREDIBLE
Team Sleep: awesome
Dark new day: surprising and awesome
30 seconds to mars: huge letdown :(

I don't really dig this new Coldplay album by the way, it's too soft for me I guess.

Well fuck. Jonny is no Coldplayahata so if he's not that impressed, I'm a bit scared. :( Oh well, I'm sure I'll still like it! I hope. By the way mrklaw.. Liam Gallagher agrees with you. :lol

Newspaper: You’re not very fond of Coldplay either?
Liam: They’re a bunch of fucking Dido cocks. They’re boring. But it seems like this is what people want these days. I myself prefer that things are a bit more exciting. Some more attitude. I’ve met Chris Martin a couple of times. He’s a good guy, and I respect what he’s achieved. But I’d never go to hear him play. I’d rather spend my day at the pub than seeing Coldplay.

I've been listening to this. Not too impressed. It's too damned mopey.

Why are you so sad Chris? You are married to a Hollywood star and have a new baby named Apple!

Doesnt help that ive been feening as well. Its good shit.

Gave it another few listens and I'm slowly warming up to it. Songs I really like are:

Square One
White Shadows
Talk
Speed of Sound
Low

Great King Bowser

I've been listening constantly and the album has seriously grown on me. Probably won't topple the previous records, but it stands alone as a great album.

Hopefully will see them on Monday at a Radio 1 gig, then I'm seeing them again on the 28th. Huzzah.

I like Coldplay a bit but this new albums sucks like shit.

THIS is what happens if Radiohead keeps releasing "The Bends sequels".
