wtf is wrong with that? I'm sorry, but I don't see anything sexist about this tweet. People got way to sensitive.

Go show it to your mom, sister, girlfriend, or just any random woman you work with, and tell them exactly what you said. It's way too easy to live in a little twitter hate bubble and not see anything offensive about anything, but you need to broaden out and talk to people who don't see the world the way you do.

I've been watching Kinda Funny content daily now, for years, and that is largely attributed to Colin's presence on the shows. A lot of people seem to be spewing the hate, but to me, he will be hugely missed.

Um... agree or disagree, there are a lot of people who are interested in what he has to say about politics. I think if he goes this route he will be incredibly successful, like him or not.

He will not be "incredibly successful" because he has no real pull compared to the actual pundits. He has a small fanbase from KF/IGN. Be honest with yourself here, he is not going to be a meaningful drop in any political bucket.

Actually, I'm pretty sure if any prominent female in the games industry said that, they would be immediately bombarded with harassment and drowned is sexist pejoratives.

Sexism is an entirely different matter. Getting harassed sexually from neckbeards and co. is obviously tough but it is completely different from having actual intellectuals bombard you and try to completely ruin your name or cause people to turn on you.

There are plenty who do that also happen to not write articles defending shitty "girlfriend modes" in games. This isn't just about tweets.

Ya, not very many people write articles that extensive any more. Polygon used to, now it is mostly shitty clickbait.

Colin will be missed by me, you don't have to miss him.

What?

I'm not arguing that you should find this tweet offensive.

I'm stating that the tweet is inarguably sexist. Especially given the context of it's posting.

What argument do you have that the tweet is not sexist?

It seems real simple really. Colin is leaning harder and harder into political topics, even as they relate the gaming, the rest of the crew just want to bullshit and talk about games and not have to constantly answer questions about what stupid shit Colin said this week. It was a bad fit. Colin's twitter fuckery just made that all the more apparent. Whether you approve or not of Colin's antics, this is probably best for everyone involved.

He had really really visibly waned on his love of video games over the last year. This combined with his recent rubbing elbows with Rubin and Beck leave me not shocked at all that this happened.

I don't think you know what sexism is.

but colin is sexist?? that's exactly what we're talking about. it's not a "different matter" it's the whole crux of the thing

Fuck what? Even if you ignore his far right bullshit he's still aggressive, condescending and ignorant.

Just watch him go bananas for 30 mins over the PS4pro announcement.

Glad that his attempts to turn KF into video game's Breitbart News failed.

Colin was fucking right? How self centered can one person be? Glad he's out, enjoying that Polygon are making fun of him.

He probably thinks he has a big career in politics ahead of him because he was on the radio twice.

He should soon find out that he's just another white supremacist with a hint of conspiracy theorist in there and not as fucking special as he thinks.

So much hate and lies in this comment. :(

Colin was an excellent games commentator and historian. I always enjoyed hearing (but rarely, if ever, agreed with) his political views as a sort of side note in things like Conversations with Colin, Colin Was Right, etc.

But once these two things started colliding and he started holding himself out as some savior of free speech and "creativity" in games because he was brave enough to say white men can have opinions too, I couldn't stand him. Like many have said on this thread, he was always advocating for free speech, listening to different opinions, and having "civil" (my god how I hate how people use that word) conversations about politics, but never hesitated to drag anyone who had the gall to express dissatisfaction with representation in video games or dare to venture into the realm of identity politics (see the most recent episode of PS I Love You, where he spends half the time yelling about how stupid and childish a Native woman is for starting a conversation around the use of certain historically oppressive words in Horizon: Zero Dawn).

The first video game podcast I ever listened to was the Podcast Beyond episode recorded after their first live show (back when it was Greg, Colin, and Ryan). I remember Colin talking about how humbled he was by all of these strangers being so happy to see him in person. Now Colin goes on the Rubin Report and Glenn Beck. Now he spends time on his podcast (albeit humorously) discussing whether he is one of the most famous people to come from Long Island. Colin Was Right used to be a self-deprecating inside joke, but now it's turned into a single-minded worldview.

I'll miss hearing Colin's commentary on everything Playstation, his interest in the history of games, and his chemistry with Greg. I'll even miss his obsession with sales numbers and general know-it-all attitude relating to video game industry business decisions. I won't miss his negativity and constant crying over the opinions of "PC Police" or "SJWs." I'm sad that Colin is gone, but I'm happy to see him leave.

I'd love him to read this post. Very well measured and a good read.

I suspect his decision wasn't because of the response to his joke tweet. It's probably been a number of things that have added up over the last year or so. You could tell he was losing the passion. I don't care for him particularly, but hope he grows as a person wherever he goes.

I don't think you know what sexism is.

You clearly didn't comprehend my post if you think so.

but colin is sexist?? that's exactly what we're talking about. it's not a "different matter" it's the whole crux of the thing

Colin isn't sexist. The tweet was sexist even if it was made in jest but he is not. His true feelings obviously don't resonate with the joke as he mentioned. I guess his girlfriend is sexist as well for laughing at the joke.

The original post responded to me talking about the completely out of proportion backlash to his tweet, which is a completely different type of backlash to the stupid sexism that would ensue if a woman made such a joke about a man.

I can't help but speculate that this didn't go down as smoothly as they said it did because of all the increased work Colin just started doing recently with CWR. Why would you start that if you were planning to leave in what, 5 weeks?

This isn't my first rodeo, and I already know how it will play out.

There's no point in engaging those that will never listen or step off of their soap box, and that's exactly what you have when it comes to issues such as this.

I will definitely agree that there are those out there that are infinitely stubborn and can't be swayed, but I think there are others out there, whose opinions may not be cemented or need more information, that can see other points of view. Everyone will be always be wrong in someone else's eyes, but context of a situation or a piece of information is always important to make your opinion.

Are you calling Colin Moriarty a Nazi? I'm confused.

No, I think they're comparing him to some of the most unsavory people involved in this whole 'alt-right' phenomenon because if you're not 100% with us you're 100% with them (and we all fucking HATE them) because that's how mature and rational political discourse works.

Not surprising, he's definitely taking an alt-right job.

However I still don't excuse Greg for defending him all these years, he clearly knows what type of guy Colin is and is OK with it.

I can't say I was much of a fan in regards to the way he came across from a gaming perspective, mainly at IGN. I tend to find fanboys pretty intolerable in general to be honest.

Just seeing the Don't Tread on Me avatar should indicate exactly what type of person he is. Not sure how anyone could be surprised by his comments or opinions.

Sexism is an entirely different matter. Getting harassed sexually from neckbeards and co. is obviously tough but it is completely different from having actual intellectuals bombard you and try to completely ruin your name or cause people to turn on you.

You make it sound as if this kind of thing came out of nowhere. The reason why this happened is because Colin made many crass and unsympathetic comments and did not apologize for any of it, even when he was clearly in the wrong.

Tears of laughter at Colin leaving as soon as he was 'famous' enough to appear on The Glenn Beck Show, his life's ambition.

He's been using Kinda Funny for at least a year now to harbour support for his scumbag political views and his tweet was 100% him working his ticket out of the group so he can launch whatever he's doing next with the full force of the basement weirdos that love him, who now feel slighted and 'oppressed'.

He's a lot of things, but he's not dumb, and anyone that thinks this is an accident or the result of one tweet is missing the big picture.

no the person spewing the hate is the one resigning
