You can't be this obtuse can you?

Oh he can. And sadly, as has been proven over and over again on the internet, people this dense and obtuse not only exist, they are almost proud of it. It's no coincidence they gravitate towards people like Colin Moriarty. "He just tells it like it is!"

Man, as someone who doesn't follow the new wave of these weird YouTube personality based game companies, this shit is all so confusing to me.

I tried watching this video of him and Jason Schrieier (sp?) talk together and realized it was 1h45m long.

Who has the time for these guys? Don't people have games to play instead of listening to other people talk about them?

I wonder the same thing, but here we all are

Long form interviews came long before this gaming personality thing.

Their content is based around podcasting. Most people don't just sit down and watch everything. You listen to it while driving, cleaning, exercising, sitting on the bus or some shit.

The people giving Tim shit in the twitch chat is just so sad, hope all of them follow colin wherever he goes and we don't have to put up with that shit anymore.

Some of y'all, here's a thought experiment.

Have someone like Colin, abrasive, often dismissive of criticism, making crude jokes over social media and in general being a poor spokesman for your business, and put him in a 'real world' occupation.

Are any of you surprised if he gets let go then?

No, I'm just trying to devil's advocate for the junior here that's not understanding how crude that tweet is.

I think that tweet is absolutely awful and tasteless, there's no humor to it.

Oh nevermind, I thought you meant Colin.

And yeah, calling the tweet a joke is being beyond charitable. There's no punchline beyond "women are horrible".

It's juniors are alts designed to troll from some random site (probably VOAT) because "Lulz stewpid elf and his stewpid site".

Elf? I really don't understand the internet. But what does elf mean here??

...

Well I just posted in a Colin is Right thread (a week or so ago) about how this trainwreck has been a guilty pleasure of mine.

Colin is coming off as incredibly self-destructive. There are more peaceable ways to make an exit than to force the issue, if what he really wants is to move on from the gaming press.

But again, it is a disgusting pleasure. Glad I'm not watching the stream with people crying to make myself feel worse about it.

...

Also, Colin holding himself up as a paragon of good argumentation, discourse, and intellectual honesty has always been a joke, at least as far as his public persona has been.

He always came across on GAF and the limited times I watched/listened to him over the years as a bully and a coward with a degree of sophistication, articulation, and dedication to his speech that he used as a cudgel to make himself come across as more right than he was.

Tbh. That's not always completely on the person him/herself, entirely, at least not always. It can often be a product of the social situation and competing temperaments. What is more telling to me is that he always seemed to avoid it when he was called on his bullshit. It isn't pleasant, but you kind of need to allow the veil to be pierced and even give your opponent the tools to pierce it if you care at all about the dialectic.

Can't say i'm surprised really. He clearly hasn't really been enjoying games for awhile. It's become a running joke that he'll play something for 5 minutes and quit. In addition, the fact that his personality type leads to controversy puts strain on the company's image.

Good luck to him.

These type of people are referred to as suckers. Tricked by snake oil salesmen. It's almost meta. They probably acknowledge that they are dense and ignoring something but they double down with their ignorance.

Jokes are ok only if its about white people and men.

Especially white men i guess.

Cant make jokes about anybody else or you are spreading "hate".

Its called punching down for a reason.

wait, is this the tweet people have been freaking out about?
Jesus, talk about hyperbole
I said the same thing very early in this thread. But then I went back over some of his older stuff and read this article:

https://powercoupleproductions.word...iarty-is-why-i-stopped-supporting-kindafunny/

Taken by itself that tweet isn't that bad, it really isn't But in its proper context you can see a few things:

  • It was a career-driven tweet, fully aware of the reaction he would get (and was rewarded by Glen Beck)
  • This is one of many anti-feminist comments he's made in the last few years
  • He's purposefully abrasive and knew this would get a rise out of the "snow flake" left

In context he just comes off as a lonely, self-centered, miserable, red-piller who's angst and toxicity has no place in KF nor their community.

This whole episode has made me super appreciative of the Easy Allies guys. For starters you'd never have any of them publicly antagonize parts of their fan-base this way. Secondly, that group of guys does everything they do for the betterment of the EZA brand and its community. Colin was so full of himself that he knew full well he could continue spouting what he did because Greg and others let him, hell Greg apologized for him. It's a joke.

ppl are so sensitive nowadays...
especially men

grow a pair.. 'wow he tweeted this omg so sexist" lol

I firmly believe there is no need to apologize for such a joke. As there wouldn't be if the tables were turned. If he has made any sexist comments which represent his beliefs or actually advocates any sexist beliefs I would like to hear them.

wtf is wrong with that? I'm sorry, but I don't see anything sexist about this tweet. People got way to sensitive.

So much hate and lies in this comment. :(

wait, is this the tweet people have been freaking out about?
Jesus, talk about hyperbole

Unreal. This is being posted literally minutes after Greg just said it's not about the tweet.

GJ Polygon.

As a side note neogaf is by no means guilty of elitism...

ITT: Junior alt's escalate defense of the alt-right to hilariously unexpected levels.

That clickbait title. FUCK

How exactly is a 100% accurate headline that spells it all out so you don't have to click, clickbait?

He made a sexist tweet, he quit. Saying as much is not clickbait.

"You'll never guess why Colin just quit Kinda Funny" or something similarly vague would be clickbait.

Yeah, what clickbaiting was put together there?

It's a concise title. Colin posted a sexist tweet. He's leaving Kinda Funny.

Done.

Title implies the tweet was the cause when it wasn't.

Clickbait.

As someone who watched this channel for a while this Colexit was a LONG time coming.

How will you ever heal from this attack? I'll pray for you.

So I wonder who Kinda Funny will bring in cause they can't continue for long as they are currently.

It's almost like an act of god that Vince was let go from IGN this past weekend. Perfect fit.

Didn't agree with him politically for the most part and I think a lot of stuff he said was just for shock value without caring it was in poor taste but going to miss his gaming commentary.

Serious question but would people get as much offended if women would make such a joke on international mens day?

Kinda doubt it.

The people that would be most upset likely don't even know such a day exists, and likely have contributed to a great deal of misogyny themselves. Also, the group with the most power insulting the disadvantged is quite a bit different than a member of a disadvantaged group doing the same thing with people in power. You can argue how productive such a simple minded "joke" could be, but they're hardly equivilant.

People can feel however they want about Colin. It's their right. I personally enjoyed his stuff, but I get why people don't or wouldn't.

However, the one thing about society today that I hate is the "attack" mentality people have. When someone does or says something stupid, it's not enough to just scold them. People have to destroy them. Mercilessly. They wanna taste blood. Getting reprimanded is no longer just enough, people want to see their lives ripped apart piece by piece until nothing is left.

Since that tweet Colin put out, his apology wasn't enough. The amount of viciousness I saw about the guy is way over the top. It's out of control, man, and it's a shame.

Colin was agenda-driven at times, stubborn, and irritating at times, but I think he was a genuinely good dude. He was flawed like anyone else, and I think this is a shame. Got no hate in my heart for the guy. Wish him the best.

I think you've already realized you were wrong, and I apologize if I'm piling on; however, Colin never actually apologized. Greg, who is a cool guy in my book and who I watch/listen to KF for, issued a statement/apology on behalf of KF. Colin, if I'm not mistaken, wasted no time right after in posting a pic on Twitter of the "Don't Tread on Me" Gadsen flag, basically shitting on Greg's apology and making himself out to be some victim/martyr for free speech or something. I think some or most of the ill will toward Colin could have easily, easily been diffused had he simply apologized and said something like, hey, I fucked up and I realize some of you were offended by the lame joke I just made on International Women's Day. Boom. Bam. Done. But nope, Colin seems like a guy who is too proud to do that. I'm TOTALLY reminded of an incident a few years ago on Giant Bomb that played out COMPLETELY differently. Basically in that incident, the late great Ryan Davis made an unfortunate utterance during a live stream and used a term that, although prevalent and socially acceptable to a degree during the 1980s, is nonetheless derogatory and offensive to gay people and no one uses it anymore. Ryan immediately apologized and during their next podcast publically apologized even though he didn't really have to and everybody was like, ok cool, we know you didn't mean it and you are heartfelt and sincere in you apology. Colin seemed to double down on the stupid sexist joke he made and didn't apologize for the humorless sacks of shit comment after. Whatever. Like I don't want anybody to have to lose their job or quit their job and he was good at certain things he did gaming wise, but he was completely unapologetic and seems excited about whatever thing he is doing now so I'm not crying over sexist spilled milk. I do feel bad, sexist or not, if the guy had an anxiety attack due to this, but he acted like an ass so the blowback was not unexpected. I hope KF continues to flourish and Greg and the rest of the crew have continued success.
