If it took him all the way to college to get on the right side of basic human rights like abortion, he will be dead long before he begins to resemble a decent person.

I mean, that pretty much assumes all people raised Catholic are going to be shitty forever. When you hear that in your ear 24/7 as a kid, yeah, you're gonna believe that. I changed my mind at like 16 and that was in the 2010s, so it's not hard to suggest that someone changed their mind at probably 19-20 several years earlier. You can grill him for a whole lot of things, but criticizing someone for changing their mind and joining the right team is frankly ridiculous

Definition of racism: a person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another.

Can you point to a tweet that shows Colin is racist?

I'm not saying this isn't possible but I follow Colin and kinda funny pretty casually and would be very surprised to see evidence of this.

I also don't think the simple fact of him being a conservative is evidence of racism, although some may feel that way.

I follow Colin and disagree with the majority of his political beliefs.

Would you follow Colin shortly after he went on a racist tirade saying that immigrants are diluting the gene pool of America?

If he suddenly went on a tirade claiming that immigrants were diluting the gene pool of America and you were one of his followers would you unfollow him?

Dude, I seriously can't stand Colin or his politics, but he's not fucking racist.

Look up his GOG topics such as Ferguson or the one on the Confederate flag and realise you're being an idiot.

What is your definition of racism and sexism? Forget sexism for a minute. You actually, seriously believe Colin Moriarty is a racist? I do not believe that. Some of the people in this thread have lost their minds. You guys need to calm down and breathe.

Your post here is telling of the culture we live in today.

Look at all these dangerous people who he just today chose to follow

C609coKWsAAAAdB

and his willingness to entertain far right demagogue Glenn Beck

And an endorsement of libertarian policies fucks over minorities. As well as his embrace of hard right conservatives like Mitt Romney or thinking that Paul Ryan is intellectual with good points.

Finally, his comments about Bolivia were based on racist stereotypes and his show only had five white men as guests and when called out, he acted like a little victim that can't handle feedback.

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...

His disdain towards people who empathize with the plight of minorities, for one. His refusal to acknowledge these issues.

Please find a tweet where he says something you consider racist. He spouts a lot of stupid shit, and he does seem to have a shocking lack of empathy. But that isn't racism.

following someone != support

I follow Donald Trump on twitter, doesn't mean I support him.

Yes, it's concerning that he started following Jon Tron, but it's a big leap to start saying it mean that Colin supports him.

A follow does not equal support. I follow Donald Trump. I think Donald Trump is a horrible human being. It doesn't mean I support him. Stop acting like a child. Use your brain for a second.

It's not just the JonTron follow which is setting off alarm bells, though. Any knowledge on a good chunk of the people he followed would shed a lot of light onto why people are concerned. That it has happened the day of his resignation shouldn't be chalked up as merely coincidence.

Thanks for the discussion though. I'm sure he'll be fine too! Having said that, I hope we're not here having a similar discussion in a year's time when he ends up speaking out in favour of Stephen Miller or being photographed at Mar-a-Lago playing golf with Trump.

Thank you for understanding! I hope to see you around again sometime.

I wouldn't use the YouTube vid as proper evidence. The subreddit and KF forums are where it becomes clear what the KF community thinks of Colin's departure.

This is like a room full of drunk uncles on thanksgiving x10000

People dont like Colins political views, and with this opening they have taken the oportunity to basically shit on him like its open season.

Its just what the internet is now. I dont agree with almost anything he thinks and says, but its insane that he is being labeled a racist because people literally dont like that he is conservitive.

If he starts sprouting JonTron type of shit ill eat crow, but Colin has never fucking said anything remotely close to the JT meltdown

This is was just the breaking point. The way he talks and his politics create friction and attract an audience they don't want. Colin also said he wants to say what he wants to say without damaging his friends business. This isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened (it is the most extreme) and it wouldn't have been the last.

He was a founding member right? Seemed like he was just as invested as the rest of them. I wonder how often did he have to keep his mouth shut about certain things, because it always seemed like they were open to discuss many things in public. I don't think they ever tried to censor him.

Look who he just chose to follow and his willingness to entertain far right demagogue Glenn Beck

So that makes him a racist? Is that actually what you believe? He supports Mitt Romney and he appeared on the Glenn Beck show: racist. Is that it?

I'm not saying alarm bells shouldn't be ringing. But saying he's racist is jumping the gun.

On PSIloveYouXOXO he took someone to task for not liking recent diversity in games, hardly racist.

Yes, he's apathetic, but that isn't the same as racism. I'm not saying he definitely isn't, but it's way to early to start jumping to conclusions.

Why do you think he is leaving Kinda Funny?

I just started watching some of the KF stuff, and as a newcomer, I can't stress enough how cringeworthy Colin comes off - his views are so amateurish and infantile, lacking any real complexity or profundity. He reminded me a lot of a 12-year-old - just really excited to hear himself speak, regardless of how off-base he was.

So, yea, I guess I'm not too upset by this. Sucks that the "joke" lacked any and all humor in the first place - what an embarrassing way to go.

Careful, we know how well that went for Colin.

Maybe don't be so harsh or just ignore them.

Willful ignorance is more harmful than plain ignorance

Don't come into a topic being ignorant as hell on purpose when you have the resources to learn. Ain't got time or patience for that level of stupidity.

Don't care for kinda funny, tried listening to the podcasts but the people rub me the wrong way. Feels like every episode Greg/Colin have to remind us that they were at IGN or that Greg won an award. Tim we get it you like Nintendo and crap from the 90s move on. Oh and I'd love for someone to do a super cut of Greg talking about the PS4 launch and how sony came out with the message to gamers blah blah blah

I'll say this period point blank, if I knew of anyone supporting bigotry or who stands behind political or socioeconomic views that are discriminatory in nature, I would bail immediately. No fucking way that ends up on anything associated with me. So if Moriarty isn't a bigot but associates with or agrees with others that are, I can't fathom or relate to that.

So what you are saying is that by not agreeing with you we should be banned.

That's logical.

I simply mean it is a little easier to get an anonymous Youtube or Twitter account than it is a NeoGAF account and maybe people think about what kind of comments or actions can get them banned from this site a little more than on other sites. Nice baiting though...you almost had me.

So that makes him a racist? Is that actually what you believe? He supports Mitt Romney and he appeared on the Glenn Beck show: racist. Is that it?

Read the post again. Throwing minorities under the bus because of his economic ideology should tell you enough about his priorities. And when he gets called out for only having white dudes on his show he acts indignant and refuses to change.

It might not be full on Grand Wizard of the KKK, but it's still dirt racism of maintaining the white supremacist status quo and he shows that he's more than fine with maintaining and reproducing it, despite being told otherwise.

This rabbit hole is going deeeeeeeep

Alot of aspersions being thrown around here just because people don't find a problem with Colin.

This is hilarious.

Fool someone said shit about people who are alt-right being banned here

You said "So you think people with different opinions should be banned? Logical."

I said "If you identify with Alt-Right/Neo-Nazi you have a problem."

Nowhere did I mention Colin Moriarty, who is a dumbass, but not Alt-Right

He does follow philosophies that would fuck over minorities tho...

Still eye-rollingingly stupid

Agreed on this. Not racist though.

Doesn't absolve him of responsibility though, and his apathy towards racism does help enable it.

It's interesting though, because he did leave the Republican Party due to Donald Trump's overtly racist attitude. So props to him for that.

But for some reason he was happy to ignore the fact the fundamentally the same party, with the same attitudes as today, was just as bad back then as it is now. The difference being, was that Romney dressed it all up nicely and only used dog whistles that Colin couldn't hear.

I agree, with you. But Colin has neither associated nor said anything in agreement with Jon Tron lately. He's just followed him on Twitter.

IGN was good for Colin, as he obviously needed to be constrained from his own sense of self-importance and bigotry. I won't miss his snark, his talking down to people, and his vastly overstated knowledge of history and politics.

As for Colin himself, those that blindly followed him because he was a loyal lapdog (up until recently) of your favorite video game company, don't waste your tears or your time. Colin doesn't need your well wishes. This is a guy was was born on second base, has never had a job interview, never written a resume, and is about to tap into the wealthy stream of alt-right money. For all the talk about "echo chambers", he's about to dive head first into one, and the video game industry will be better of for it. So long Colin, you won't be missed.
