College Dormitory Gaffers...

How do you get your console game fix while at college? Do you bring along a television? Do you use one of the public TV lounges? Do you use an adapter and play them on your laptop's monitor?

I'm asking because I'm going to be going to college next fall, and I was wondering how each of the options stack up against each other, and what others prefer.

someones bound to have a tv...

dorm life rocks for gaming, you can lan your computers for some UT action (i pwned my roommates last year) and whatever consoles u dont have your roommates might

Every dorm room I've ever been in (100s?) has had a TV brought along by one of the roommates.

doh i wandered in here thinking this involved some sort of girl on girl dorm action oh well while im here...

we had tvs in our rooms at the dorms and i usually hosted all the games cause i greased the IT deprtment guys with weed

When I was in the dorms, we had a LAN Counter-Strike server with 15-20 people in it from about 10 AM to 2 AM 7 days a week. Even at times like 4-5 AM, there would often still be a few people in there. It ruled.

Bringing a TV or having a computer with video in capabilities is also a good idea. It doesn't have to be anything big or fancy. We had an absolute blast playing countless Soul Calibur matches on a 13 inch TV.

I just brought a television to my dorm room. They have hookups in there, although game-playing on the network was prohibited.

Btw, my dorm was a private room/ 3 room apartment setup. I didn't actually stay with anyone, but I'm not sure if that's the norm.

I commute to school, but I was never invited to a dorm room that had no television, and a fair amount of those did have video game consoles connected to them.

I brought a TV and a Cube. I'm actually surprised at how many people have Gamecubes compared to X-Boxes and Playstations. Mario Kart: Double-Dash is very popular.

My dorm setup is similar to what Speevy described. I want to get a VGA box for my 20-inch Sony monitor, but since I'm so damn lazy, I may just get a cheap 15 inch TV.

I have my DS for my Advance Wars and Castlevania fix. I like portables because the games are only designed for short spurts, and don't get in the way of studying (er, drinking :D )

I left my GC and PS2 at home. I did however bring a few key games in hope my roomate would bring a console. Just my look, hell be going home next week and will be bringing back his GC.

The college (Boston University) doesnt have enough dorms so 400 people are at the Hyatt. So theres a TV in my room.

I did bring my DS (and GBA games) as well as some PC games to enjoy on ym new laptop.

I know a guy on the floor below has DDR, but I havent seen a single PS2, Xbox or GC since I got here. No DS or GBA either. I saw a PSP with a guy at the mall, but none on campus.

I discovered warcraft 3 and switched to PC gaming.

I didn't bring consoles to campus until my second year. At my school, freshmen get the really crappy small dorms. I barely had enough room for my keyboard and monitor. I had to write for school work on a pad

Upperclassmen get spacious dorms. Four people share a kitchen and a large den (plenty of room for consoles).

But I really can't get into console games on campus. My friends will want to watch TV/movies. As an engineer, I had too much homework anyway.

I usually would have sort of a gaming blitz during holidays. I'd buy a bunch of games on clearance and play them through. Stuff like Ratchet and Clank. Very cheap and fun way to play games.
