Games that actually matter this week/weekend:

i
Louisville @ Rutgers
i

Why It Matters: If Rutgers wins they get the Big East auto bid to the BCS. If they lose it opens a set of wacky combinations where SYRACUSE could get a BCS auto bid.

i
Northern Illinois vs Kent State
i

Why It Matters: Aside from the fact that it determines the MAC Champion, Kent State needs to move up 1 spot to get a slice of that BCS pie. With a win in this game the Golden Flashes could find themselves forcing Oklahoma into a lesser bowl.

i
Oklahoma vs TCU
i

Why It Matters: The Sooners need to win this to retain a shot at not only the conference championship but also at an at large BCS bid.

i
MTSU vs Arkansas St
i

Why It Matters: The winner will be crowned the C-USA Champion and would likely play in the Liberty Bowl.

i
Boise St vs Nevada
i

Why It Matters: The Broncos won't be busting the BCS this year, but they need a win in this game to finish in a 3 way tie for the conference lead.

i
Cincinnati vs UConn
i

Why It Matters: This one only really matters if Rutgers loses on Thursday. If the Scarlet Knights lose and Cinci wins, then we have a 4 way tie for the Big East Title!

i
Alabama vs Georgia
i

Why It Matters: Aside from being crowned SEC champion the winner will all but certainly go to the MNC game and be favored to beat Notre Dame. The loser might end up in the Cotton Bowl and miss out on BCS riches.

i
Pittsburgh vs South Florida
i

Why It Matters: The Panthers need this win to become bowl eligible. South Florida needs it to feel less bad about their season.

i
Texas vs Kansas State
i

Why It Matters: If the Wildcats win they get the conference's automatic bowl bid. If they lose and Oklahoma wins then the Wildcats have to hope the selection committee takes them over Kent State.

i
Florida State vs Georgia Tech
i

Why It Matters: The winner gets the ACC auto bid and a trip to the Orange Bowl. If Georgia Tech wins then they save themselves the embarassment of trying to become the second ever 6-7 Bowl Team and instead face the embarassment of being pantsed by Rutgers or something.

i
Nebraska vs Wisconsin
i

Why It Matters: The winner gets the B1G title and a trip to Pasadena to play the Grand Daddy of them all. Nebraska fans are probably hoping that if they win this they can face Stanford, since rematches in bowl games are boring and no one likes them.

Three early games this week, so don't forget to get your picks in early.

Your This Week Decides it all BCS Bowl Outlook:
MNC: Notre Dame vs Alabama/Georgia
Rose Bowl: Stanford/ucla vs Nebraska/Wisconsin
Fiesta Bowl: Kansas State vs Oregon
Sugar Bowl: Florida vs Oklahoma/Rutgers/Louisville
Orange Bowl: Florida St vs Rutgers/Kent State

Bonus:

damn bluemax you need something to enhance your game. you're off tonight

The only other possible choice would be Clemson, so...yes. But if KSU beats Texas, Stanford beats UCLA and Kent State beats NIU to win the MAC, Kent State will likely end up at #16.

thanks. It would be very Stoops to let Kent State take his BCS spot. I'm sure most will be happy with the plucky underdog getting in, though

Georgia Tech has no business in a championship game. If there were any justice, the ACC would just toss the whole thing out and have a rematch with Florida State and Clemson.

Of course, after the debacle this weekend when the ACC went 0-4 against the SEC, perhaps they should let the ACC championship game be a rematch of Florida vs. LSU or something.

And for fun the original BCS Top 10 from this season:

1 Alabama
2 Florida
3 Oregon
4 Kansas State
5 Notre Dame
6 LSU
7 South Carolina
8 Oregon State
9 Oklahoma
10 USC

7 of the top 10 teams remain, USC, Oklahoma and Oregon State all fell out of the top 10.

there could be 10 coaches fired in the NFL, and CFB has just started it's blood-letting. I'm not sure where all these new coaches and staffs are going to come from

Hey guys, once again, it's time for your weekly dose of This Week In Irrelevant MAC Football-

... wait ...

... what, are you telling me my title may in fact be wrong?

Uhh ... I was not prepared for this ... but it's time for This Week In Actually Relevant MAC Football?

As the OP mentions, the MAC Championship Game will be between two ranked BCS teams: MAC East Champions Kent State and MAC West Champions Northern Illinois. It's the first time two nationally ranked teams have met in the MAC Championship since 2003, which many will remember as the great battle between a ranked Miami (Ohio) team led by future NFL star Ben Roethlisberger and Urban Meyer's ranked Bowling Green team led by ... Josh Harris. I'll let you guess how that turned out (Miami (OH) won 49-27 and Big Ben threw for over 300 yards).

So, my thoughts on this? It could be a shootout that comes down to the last play. Kent State and Northern Illinois are both capable of piling on the points, and they've both made supposedly better defenses in the conference look like chumps on the path to racking up identical 11-1 (9-0 in conference) records. I'm conflicted who will win ... but I'm guessing it might just be the Golden Flashes by 3.

As for what they need to move up one spot, there's a few options. Upsets by Georgia Tech or Wisconsin, or a thumping on UCLA by Stanford might be enough if combined with a solid win over Northern Illinois. On the other hand, the Huskies have a much harder road ... eh, who the fuck am I kidding. They're not going to jump enough teams, so it's Kent or bust for the MAC.

And remember, this is how the Flashes' season started.

In any case, it will definitely be the most important and exciting football game played at Ford Field this season! *weeps because of what that fact really means*

My John Gruden clone farm gets more fiscally prudent by the day.

P.S. Go Golden Flashes!

No bRuins vs. Furd?

I'm annoyed that I don't get to go the Pac 12 championship game again this year. It was a lot of fun last year even though it wasn't really a close game. Damn you furd.

Damn you guys for choking...lol Oh well maybe next season

I hope so!

And lol at the Beavers not going down at all in the rankings. How the hell do you turn the ball over six times (including 4 interceptions) and just get absolutely destroyed at home and not drop even a little?

By having pretty much everyone behind you also lose.

Did I not put that one in there? Shit, it was supposed to be!

Game was on Pac 12 network so no one saw it.

Not many games on this week, 19 to be exact, but the teams that are playing are mostly good matchups which is good since ttk won't have many options for the pickem. Nicholls State vs. Oregon State looks to be the only real dud.

Wait, did Oregon State schedule that game under the assumption they wouldn't make the championship game? I know their chances were slim, but still.

So Kent State has a great shot at the BCS if UCLA loses?

I love underdogs and all, but that's some bullshit.

The rule was, I think meant to protect those really good undefeated or 1 loss mid-majors who otherwise wouldn't get a shot at the BCS, but with all of the losses the past several weeks in the BCS conferences below the top 10,it's allowed mid-major teams that wouldn't be sniffing the top 25 to make it up as high as 16.

Fuck it. Hope they crash and burn the party at this point. No sympathy.

Anyway, UCF gets it's 4th division title in 8 years and will attempt it's 3rd overall conference title this Saturday. Despite the inconsistency between seasons, have to hand it to George O'Leary for what he has done with the program.

Still think he should phase himself out sooner rather than later since I don't think he will be the one to get them to the next step.

Its going to be a bad week for the conference. :( I'm almost tempted to root for UNC just so the the margin of victory won't be so large for the B1G.

But It'll be more fun to watch them get stomped. Everyone in the ACC hates us, so fuck them anyway.

UCLA and Texas has to lose, in all honesty the Big East does not deserve a spot in the BCS this year, can't believe how badly Louisville and Rutgers has choked, Syracuse is playing the best in the league right now.

We still have one more year of this system, right?

Can we just fast-forward to 2014?

A lot of the assistants at OSU are hot names for some coaching jobs. Hope we can keep them all here for one more year and make another run.
