Comic book books, novels?

Was thinking of doing a school paper on the appeal of comic books/ comic book superheroes to society and the impact it has had upon society. Or a book that goes through the psyche of a superhero and why they are written the way they are to attract more viewers, etc. For the paper, i need an actual book that i can read from cover and cover and pull quotes etcetera to support a thesis regarding what i think will be how comic books have impacted pop culture, though maybe not necessarily recent pop culture.

So was just wondering if anyone had some good recommendations for any comic book books or novels that may peak my interest or help in writing this paper. Thanks in advance!

Hm maybe you should focus on the classics, since they have stood the test of time? Another reason is that comic books have reflected upon world issues over the years, from prohibition to World War II. I remember when my grandpa was alive, he used to tell me that they actually had comics on the front to read.
