Reading?

Thought I was gonna get away scott free this week but then I saw Ruse.

Anyway finally getting around to last week's comics and Zatanna was so good as usual. Really anything involving Brother Night has great and the prison break scene was a lot more graphic than I was expecting. Also loved the cat and involving Spectre.

Dan

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Now I can't be intrigued by the covers of series and/or collections that I'm not already familiar with :/

I'll just point out that DuckTales written by Warren Spector launches this week.

I wish they were finishing the Doomsday arc in all the comics it started in. I hate how that story arc is going to continue for the next what 3 - 4 months in Action Comics yet in Superboy/Supergirl/Steel and Superman its all done and over with. I wish they would bring back the S-Shield numbering.

It's going to be a very Green week for me. I'm all over the GL stuff.

ACTION COMICS #901 *Doomsday kicking ass, not really taking names. is Superman : Hunter/prey the last time those two got into an actual fight?*

DETECTIVE COMICS #877
GOTHAM CITY SIRENS #23
GREEN LANTERN #66
GREEN LANTERN CORPS #60
GREEN LANTERN EMERALD WARRIORS #10

It was soooooooo much better with all the images. Hopefully this is not a regular thing, although I realize it must be time consuming to make the OP as pretty as it usually is.

Just Deadpool and Ruse for me this week.

Finally got all caught up on X-Force. The last issue was a little slow but sad at the end. :( I really enjoyed it after a second readthrough.

OT: What happened to Take Out Bandit? Is he gone forever? D:

Knows the Score
FF is probably the best Marvel book I've read in ages, easily the best mainstream book around.

I support this change of style to the OP. I'm aware that a Spike spent quite some time creating the OPs weekly, threads that are forgotten as soon as the new one is created.
This one has the essential information, you can check Midtown for covers. And if you think there really is a totally awesome cover this week, you can just post it here for the rest of us that probably missed it.

I haven't posted in this thread in over a month due to getting a new job and not being able to browse GAF at work anymore. After reading this week's War of the Green Lantern issues, all I have to say is "nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"
Sadly this will probably stick too.

My store sold out of Ruse before I got there...but luckily their satellite store had some left! So I'll be getting it in a few days after it is transferred.

Was scared too because it isn't exactly the sort of floppy that gets 2nd printings.

FUCK YES, JASON AARON COMICS.

I'm curious -- are we meant to know the identity of the generic ninja group that
bought Mystique's corpse for $5 million
at the end? "Marvel" and "evil ninja" makes my mind scream the Hand, but they wore black not red.

Still working through last week, Ultimate Spiderman 158 was fantastic. Looks like we are gonna get a lot of action as it counts down to the end in 160.

You and me both.
I'm very interested to see how this is going to wrap up, especially since the June issue is the last solicited issue for the main Green Lantern title. Not gonna lie, I was really hoping
Kyle was going to stay Blue

You're fucking kidding me. They seriously did what I think you're saying they did?

Your guess would make the most sense, and that's what I thought.

Yeah. I just saw.

I'm glad it at least happened in Green Lantern proper and they didn't just shunt it off to be in some other book.

Oh. Wait.

Looking for some opinions on Venom (2011), Ruse (2011) and Uncanny X-Men.
I'd be starting X-Men from 534.1, the others from the beginning. My wallet is telling me I should only pick two... Which should I go for?

If you haven't read X-Men before now I'd skip that one; the current storyline is a follow-up to Whedon's Astonishing X-Men so the events playing out would be lost upon you.

Venom is great. Tony Moore's off issues are getting covered by the spectacular Tom Fowler. Can't go wrong.

I'd go with Venom and Uncanny, I'm really liking Rick Remender's run so far and Kieron Gillen's writing on Uncanny has been pretty good so far. Then again I'm a huge fan of both of these guy's works so I'm a little biased.

Ruse is really great, though a little strange if you read the original series. It's been moved to what seems to be a more realistic setting. But either way, a Victorian-era detective story is a nice change of pace from superhero stuff. Probably because it's only a miniseries, the story moves along at a good pace and the dialogue is very snappy as well.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – An illustrator for DC Comics has pleaded not guilty to possessing child pornography.

Authorities say 38-year-old Josue Rivera, who draws under the name Justiniano, had more than 150 pictures and videos of children on his home computer.

According to the court clerk's office, Rivera entered his plea Tuesday before Superior Court Judge George Thim to first-degree possession of child pornography and asked for a jury trial. He's due back in court on June 8.

Rivera was arrested May 10 after police said he accidentally gave a local funeral home director a flash drive containing child pornography instead of one that had photographs of a deceased relative.

The Connecticut Post first reported the plea.

Just saw this, the guy has done work on 52, Teen Titans and some Chaos Comics.

Yep, that face is uncanny. :O

Also Superman- related... finally, some good news for DC/Warner?

http://robot6.comicbookresources.co...ccess-to-sensitive-papers-in-superman-battle/

A ruling by a federal magistrate judge could open the door for Warner Bros. to gain access to confidential documents the studio insists support its claims against the attorney representing the heirs of creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in their fright for the rights to Superman.

Variety reports that U.S. Magistrate Judge Ralph Zarefsky ruled Wednesday that the documents, stolen from the office of attorney Marc Toberoff and delivered anonymously to Warner Bros. in December 2008, were not protected by attorney-client privilege. However, he postponed a final ruling until Toberoff and his attorneys can seek a decision from U.S. District Judge Judge Otis Wright.

At the time of the theft, a judge ruled that the documents were privileged, and ordered the studio to turn them over to a court officer within 24 hours. However, an attached seven-page cover letter called the “Superman-Marc Toberoff Timeline” was not privileged, and became the basis for Warner Bros.’ 2010 lawsuit against the attorney. The complaint alleges that Toberoff “orchestrated a web of collusive agreements” with the Siegel and Shuster heirs, leading them to reject “mutually beneficial” longtime deals with DC Comics and seek to recapture the Superman copyright. In addition, the studio claims Toberoff schemed to secure for himself “a majority and controlling financial stake” in the Superman rights.

Just last month Zarefsky rejected the studio’s argument that the documents, which purportedly contain a formula for how the two estates and Toberoff would divide the Superman assets, violate the U.S. Copyright Act and, therefore, cannot be isolated from discovery. But this week he determined that Toberoff actually waived privilege when he turned over the documents last year in response to a grand jury subpoena issued after Toberoff met with the U.S. Attorney’s office to discuss an investigation of the theft.

The decision is only the latest twist in Warner Bros.’ increasingly bitter legal battle to hold onto Superman following a 2008 ruling that Siegel’s widow Joanne Siegel and daughter Laura Siegel Larson had successfully recaptured half of the original copyright to the Man of Steel under the provisions of the 1976 Copyright Act. The window will open in 2013 for Shuster’s estate to do the same.

I ended up picking Venom and Ruse, thank you all for the opinions!
I'll probably get Astonishing X-Men Whedon & Cassaday Omnibus along with Uncanny #535-538 next month and go from there.

Enjoyed Duck Tales. It got better as it went. Seeing three different "artists" made me sad though. I miss the Don Rosa days.

Spidey and FF were both pretty good this week. Still not excited for the Spider-Island storyline but we'll see how that goes.

Walking Dead... eh. Still don't care about any of the new characters. I don't even remember which one Holly is.

Venom is starting to lose me. I loved the preview in Amazing, but the issues themselves aren't clicking with me yet. =(

Nowhere near writing it off though. I am loving the hell out of Misty Knight in DnA's Heroes For Hire. <3
