COMICS!!! |OT| February 2017 All You Need is Love (and Rockets)

Going to pick up that Li'l Gotham collection? ;)

She hasn't read a physical comic book since she was like...five. it may as well be a digital only product

She tried Lil Gotham and didn't like it, but I should have her try it again

I hope to watch Steven Universe with her someday. Maybe we will try the comic if she digs it. Strawberry Shortcake is probably a hard pass

Hmm... How old is she again?

I can't decide if I like Dustin Nguyen on Descender. I was rereading the first volume last night before I delved into vol 2, and while I loved his art on L'il Gotham, I don't know. It's not that I don't think his work is good on Descender, but I just think I would want someone else to portray the style the book is after. I see Nguyen on something fantastical and airy, oppose to so technological. I'm not really going anywhere with this, just a thought. Not even sure who I would pick instead.

My kid is absolutely enthralled with Pokemon adventures now, think he's through the first 7 volumes.

Yeesh.

Just turned 10

I was just about to ask the same thing. My daughter is 8 and I feel Jane Thor would be too intense for her. Otherwise, your daughter's reading list is pretty close to my daughter's.
Her favourite books are Hellcat (I'm actually surprised how much she loves this book), The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and the Adventure Time comics.

She's also really gotten into Goldie Vance, Tiny Titans back issues, Over the Garden Wall, Moon Girl (she was bored of the first arc, but really fell in love with it when they introduced Kid Marvel), Ms. Marvel, Wasp and Uncle Grandpa. Oh...She really loved the Legend of Wonder Woman book by DeLiz and is very sad that there aren't more.

As for book she's dropped, she's no longer interested in any of the My Little Pony books, Jem, Lumberjanes and Gotham Academy.

I'm kinda glad there are books out there for that audience, working aback when Kamala first came out and got her first issue or two and my little cousin read and she enjoyed it. I wanted to give her books that I think she can enjoy but there almost wasn't jack shit.

I think it was just MLP and Jem I think wasn't out yet.

We need more people on Wasp.

My kid fucking LOVED Legend of Wonder Woman. We are both still bummed about that one.

She is mature for her age and an advanced reader...I have never told her she isn't allowed to read something as she has always been good at establishing her own boundaries. She doesn't like scary movies (especially anything with sharks), family endangerment, and gun violence is always keenly felt, especially when there are kids involved. That's why she stopped reading RiRi, she couldn't handle that aspect of the story.

I just always read/watch pretty much everything before she does (except kid stuff) and let her know what she is getting into. And we discuss these things...we have had some great discussions springing from media. This isn't the standard way to approach this stuff but it has worked for us so far. I have always felt kids should be allowed to read basically anything they want to read that isn't outright pornographic.

Do you think she would like current Superman and Super Sons?

I wonder if she would like the Power Ranger and Justice League crossover. My kid sister likes it, but is upset that only 2 issues are out now.

She doesn't like many things that don't feature good female characters

One book she hated that really surprised me was Renew Your Vows. She didn't even finish the first issue
Green Lanterns and 'Tec maybe? Jessica's struggle might be a bit too "real" in terms of the usual comic book things.

I'm guessing she has read BC & Zatanna: Bloodspell?

Oh! JL vs MMPR!

Tell you what, it was surreal seeing her get excited by the Power Rangers trailer. She doesn't know anything about them

I assume Kim and Trini got a huge chunk of focus from the trailer.

Whereas Spider Man still gets the focus of that book. Yes, it's Annie who is the main but Peter is in 95% of it.

What's BC

Yeah she has read some Zatanna. One of her favorite Young Justice characters

I would never encourage her to read a Lantern book, I prefer that she sticks to quality entertainment

Edit: she found Annie to be an insufferable brat

Now I'm just going through my 2800 long(the big DC, Dark Horse, IDW and Image sales killed my wallet for months) CMX list and thinking what she might like. Did you give her the WW 75th Anniversary issue?

God, I am so tired. Was so looking forward to watch a movie and read the Mignola drawn Alien Comic this evening but I can barely move -,-

GET OUT time.

Quickly before the movie starts, has there been a book that looked like Jem or Hellcat that seemed it wasn't your thing til you actually read it and pulled a 180?

Sunstone is the immediate answer. I'm a prude, I don't like romantic stories because I'm dead inside, but it won me over.

Also horror comics in general as I don't really like horror movies.

Good pick, this would be one of mine too

I think I will take myself to the movies on Monday. I'm dying to see Get Out

I thought Birthright would be stupid

Edit: Oh, the Flintstones, of course
Gwenpool

Edit2: Oh wait, are we talking specifically about books that look like Jem or Hellcat? I think I misunderstood the question
