That's great! I've not read this one yet, holding vol 9 for when I'm truly in need of something to read haha. This whole series was phenomenal in terms of art, tons of amazing stuff.

Seriously. The extent to which those movies get mangled in peoples' minds is... kind of breathtaking. They're not super complex or anything either, you don't need to be super clued in or engaged, but somehow... time after time... the whole point of them just seems to go straight past people. I don't get it.

I don't think Pak's got the voices for it, but it had a crossover that is actually important to the book's plot literally right away. Like, 4 or 5 issues in. That's garbage, even if the book is fine otherwise.

I can't wait to dive back into Doom Patrol after I catch up on my floppies.
Time to finally check out Wonder Woman Earth One probably, having enjoyed from the couple of times I read it at my library.
Fuck all them, Gwenpool tomorrow is what matters.
For the record, I did not like Man of Steel and thought it was a terrible take on Superman from a creator who either doesn't understand the appeal of the character and/or actively hates him (he's the character that you tell "this only ends one of two ways" and he finds a third way because fuck you I'm Superman and I do the impossible), I actively disliked Batman v Superman because of how stupid the plot holes were (they tried to fucking frame superman by shooting people, why wouldn't you give Wonder Woman the Kryptonite Spear, "Martha") and Batman using guns AND the way they stop the movie in the middle for some trailers of the other Justice League movies, and I was disappointed in Suicide Squad because I thought it was the one film that might work in the cynical shitstorm that has been the Synderverse. I loved Wonder Woman and The Dark Knight trilogy and I wish that those plus the Donner versions of Superman and Superman 2 were the basis of the DCEU.
Also, it's fucking hilarious that the latest Justice League trailer is trying to retcon Superman as this symbol of hope when the last to movies told us he was anything but.

Honestly, that's the reason I'm not gonna bother with the movie, Synder didn't want to make a Superman movie.

Since we're all going on the record, I don't care enough to write a big thing but I thought Man Of Steel and BvS were pretty great movies. Nothing soul searching or mind blowing but I don't mean that to demean them or apologise for them either. I just think they're pretty great movies.
I mean I know you don't care because people who say those things don't actually care about what's in the actual movie but :
-they framed Superman for creating a power vacuum allowing an african warlord to run wild, also they burned all the evidence save for the bullet lodged in Lois' notebook (and, incidentally, Superman can burn stuff, also)
-Wonder Woman was holding Doomsday down with her lasso, and Batman's grenades could only stagger him for a few seconds
-"Martha" was a) a sign that Superman is as selfless as you think he should be b) drawing a direct parallel to Thomas Wayne's death, thus casting Batman as Joe Chill and making him realize the killer he's become c) a reminded that Superman is actually just some dude, with a mom that he loves
This is not even the deep symbolic interpretation, this is BASIC FUCKING SHIT that they make clear and obvious in the goddamn movie, but that doesn't make for catchy ready-made clickbait arguments so I guess it's gonna be lost forever in the conversation.
If you think Zack Snyder actually hates Superman you are talking about movies that only exist in your head, and that have no actual basis in the reality of the text.

Nope! I bought most of the series on sale along with Criminal a few months ago, I just haven't started it yet. I'm sure I'll enjoy it though, I like BKV's writing in Paper Girls and the art looks great. Just want to kill some series I'm reading before starting another just yet. Trying to finish up JLA then Fourth World and then I'll probably start it.
Yeah that's it. I had no idea it was a thing until recently and I love Fraction's writing so I'm really looking forward to it.
Yesterday I read comics. And they where no even bad comics. So I'm game for another round tonight, I don't really have hope that it catches but hey...
So Cave Carson 6 was as solidly entertaining as usual. Still the same blend of pop, light Lovecraft, etc. Nice monster killing spree on acid scene.
Doom Patrol 5 suffered from the time that passed since I read 4. I was already quite occupied making sense of my memories but hey it's Doom Patrol so after approximately 2-3 panels I was also trying to make sense of the issue. I was a little hard on my poor old brain when I finished the issue and though it would be cool to make a mental summary of it. Plot-length wise it's your typical 5-6 parts arc, but an awful lot happen in this book.
Motor Girl 6 was very entertaining too. I got a little wary of the slow start of the book but the last issues where nice.
And on the idiotic decision front I couldn't gather enough sense to pass on reading Superman since the last relaunch. It's not so bad but when like me you have so many series that interest you, the issues add up very quickly.
So Superman 1-3 (already read the first two a long time ago) were the solid entertaining kind of capes book that I like.
Superman 4 on the other hand was a big misfire with me. I don't have a solid knowledge of the man of steel lore but fuck if that plot wasn't undecipherable to me. The whole Antarctica / City teleportation, the Moon Rock, behavior of the 'things', nothing really made sense.
But that's a slippery slope, I'm contemplating reading Action Comics from the relaunch, but then Batman will be tempting too, and my days don't have 72 hours :-/

It is, it's Shelly Bond's imprint (formerly of Vertigo). Pretty sure they announced a Gilbert Hernandez book at SDCC too.
-The testimony in front of Congress? It's in the theatrical. IRONICALLY, what's in the UC is the reveal that Luthor was behind the warlord's attack.
-Yo, they literally cut to the flashback of the murder. They make the Superman/Thomas Wayne parallel pretty clear unless you're actively not looking at the movie to look for sweet Snyder burns.
PS: are we really gonna litigate the killing of Zod again, in the year where Wonder Woman kills a guy BY MISTAKE

I dunno, man, I don't think any one will ever be able to convince me that the Martha thing isn't terrible.
I really don't like the DCEU's version of Superman. That doesn't mean that a grumpy young and still learning Superman can't be done well, I just really don't care about him and the fact that DC's big entrance into the world of connect movie superheroes is a version of Superman that seems to view saving people as a crushing burden is a creative decision that I will never understand.

Yea, coming out of SDCC, I'm feeling a bit more up on the Black Crown imprint at IDW over the Berger Books imprint at Dark Horse (Karen Berger just revealed her imprint over there) but they both have some interesting stuff lined up. Berger Books might be worth your time, they have a few things announced now.
