It looks like Valve is working on an awards system (looks similar to Reddit Gold / awards) where users can spend "Steam Community Points" to give reviews various reactions. It appears that the person who writes the review will get incentive as well in the form of extra points.

Good idea on paper but as someone who makes Steam reviews quite often and long, I see this as a downside. I mean I don't care about fame or whatever but most of the top reviews are from stupid/meme ones or the ones that are upvoted by bots(yes thats a thing and I know this because I was in a huge review group, one of the biggest actually, and it was shady as hell but I won't go into details now). Curious to see how this turns out.
