Gears of War: Reloaded coming to Steam, Xbox and PS5

MindsEyE,stuggles to hit 60fps mark on my 4080+9800x3d rig on 2160p
I haven't played MindsEye, but based on the videos I've seen, I know it's a broken game and has serious performance issues even on the RTX5090. If game is broken even the fastest hardware on the planet cant brute force good framerate.

UE5 games generally have traversal stuttering issues, but except for Silent Hill 2 and ES Oblivion, I never thought these stutters affected my experience. I've been playing games for over 30 years, and I used to see a loading screen when moving between locations. A small stutter from time to time is nothing compared to that.

UE5 has some problems, but also strong points. Natnite geomtery impress me a lot, and real time GI offers incredible lighting. I played the best looking PS5 ports like Spiderman 2, or Horizon Forbidden West, The Last Of Us Part 1, but assets arnt as detailed without nanite. Even Alan Wake 2, which uses mesh shaders to achieve incredibly high polycounts, doesn't impress me as much as some of the UE5 games that use Nanite.

The RTX4080 is well suited to running UE5 games at 1440p in terms of framerate, but it starts to struggle at 4K native, so you would need the RTX 5090 if you expect to play UE5 games at 60 fps without DLSS. There are some UE5 games like Robocop that can run at 4K native with over 60fps on my 4080S, but I need to reduce settings a bit from epic to high. Right now I'm playing mafia the old country and with high settings I get 55-65fps at 4K DLAA (if mafia would support less intensive TAA I'm sure it would also run with locked 60fps). I hovewever see little point playing at 4K native if DLSS technology can boost framerate by close to 3x and I still get razor sharp image quality. I usually play UE5 games with the combination of 4K DLSSQ + FGx2 and that gives me around 110-140fps. For me it's even enough even for fast-paced shooters, so I'm very happy with the framerate in UE5 games on my 4K 240Hz OLED monitor.

I never played the firet one. Is it still worth it in 2025?
I'm sure it will feel dated, but I just played Gears 0 through 4 last year and really enjoyed them all. Other than Killswitch, this is basically the entire genesis of the cover shooter, and modern cinematic gaming. It predated Uncharted 1, which basically took the whole concept of the cover shooter with lots of dialogue banter and ran with it after this game. It's a solid game, more arcade-ish than Uncharted, more focused on just action and fun. Feels weighty. If you want to see how the series started and play an older game, it's definitely still playable.

It's a good time if you set your expectations right. And yeah, co-op definitely is fun. Total bro blockbuster vibes.

Curious if this holds up. Last year's Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, from the same era, held up surprisingly well with its QoL additions.

It's been the same since PS4 and XBO.

Also I have both a PS5 and SX for years.

So without crossplay I can't find any games, with crossplay I can find games but it's always a team of lvl 50-70 against me in my team, all below lvl 10.

Either the coalition has fucked up the matchmaking, or it's their servers fault that I can't find any games without crossplayers. And I believe crossplayers have a lot of advantages on their side…

Aside from that, no wonder the game has high fps, it looks like shit tbh. Better textures my ass, they still look awful for a 2025 remake of a 2015 remake of a 2006 game.

he game is already out? I thought it was tomorrow.

Sounds cool. We will also play some multiplayer but i doubt the xbox bros will let us have some fun 🤣. I doubt there is some SBMM.

Word of warning: Gears multi-player is raw dog. There's a fraction of the player base who got totally savage at it and it's generally been unwelcoming for new players. I assume many of them will be back at it tomorrow.

The campaign is great though. I wish they had put out 2 and 3 at the same time because the trilogy as a whole is really the experience to have.

Everything im hearing about this is that it's not much of a remaster outside of resolution and framerate. I remember when remasters used to seriously up the texture detail, but seems like these days that's asking too much.

They should've made this in UE5 to give people a meaningful upgrade or if theywere going to stick to UE3, they shouldve given us Gears 2 and 3 "remasters" as well. "The Gears Collection", but nope, this is Microsoft we're dealing with

  • Resolution: Reworked for up to 4K assets and resolution.

  • Frame Rate: Campaign runs at 60 FPS, and multiplayer supports up to 120 FPS.

  • HDR & Dolby Vision: High Dynamic Range and Dolby Vision support for enhanced visuals.

  • Audio: Dolby Atmos and 7.1 3D Spatial Audio for an immersive experience.

  • Lighting, Shadows, and Reflections: Significant improvements to post-processing visual effects.

  • Loading Screens: Zero loading screens during the campaign.
Also reworked the gameplay to modernise it, whatever that means. Could have been better but it's certainly not just a frame rate and resolution boost.

Bought this for the trip down memory lane and to catch some games with my Xbox bros. I lived that first trilogy, 3 massive releases and making lots of friends on co op or multi and later horde. (Like with the first 3 halo games. Or when the first 3 modern warfare and couple of black ops games launched). Good time on one of many trusty 360s - red ring was such a pain in those days. Killing consoles all over the place. To the point that the 360 I still have, is the gears 3 edition 👍😎

Been a good few years and sequels now. So I'm hoping they got better in that time 😂. I know I will be terrible, based on the last beta 😬😂

gears on a PlayStation. What a time we live in (and hell divers going the other way. A bit double AA. Although still a mad and amazing co op blast 😎). And the best thing. Co op across all 😁

Apparently campaign has uncapped VRR mode. Saw a few Reddit posts on it.

The Xbox app backend is dogshit, must still be on dialup. I left it installing for like 2 hours last night and it didn't even finish. If it was steam, it would have been done in probably 30min. I gotta finish the download when I get home from work.
