A few weeks back, my computer started shutting off unexpectedly. After running virus scans and that sort of thing, I kept tinkering around with other stuff.. and it got better. Didn't shut off for like 2 weeks. Then, all of a sudden.. BAM, shut off again.. and then pretty much just wouldn't even turn on anymore. Figured it was the power supply, asked around, people pretty much confirmed that's the most likely thing..
Yesterday: I buy a power supply.
Today: I put in the power supply, noting where all the connections are plugged into and such, connect them, and it's done. Alright. Good. I turn on computer, it actually comes on, YAY! So far, so good. I try modem. No response. Ok.. let's restart and try again. Did nothing. So, open the PC back up, make sure modem is in securely (seemed to be), when I noticed something very strange... my video card was f'in hot. And this was only after having the computer on for about 5-10 minutes. I noticed it was most hot on the bottom, at the fan. So I turned on the computer and looked in.. and noticed that the fan on the video card is not moving at all or doing anything. It actually had a layer of dust on it as well!
So, am I f'ed? Do I need a completely new video card? Everything else dealing with the video card seems to be working.. I got a normal picture on the monitor and everything, etc. Just the fan wasn't moving, and it was extremely hot after a short period of time. I checked a connection that plugged into the fan, and it was plugged securely into the video card.
Any suggestions? Help?
