My Windows2K has basically gone titsup and I need to fix it (it's been like this for a few weeks now and I've been using my laptop in the mean time). Anyways, the problem appears to be terminal (services.exe using 99-100% CPU as soon as I connect to the internet) and I need to re-install. I have tried to repair 2K but it just stops/freezes at the option select screen (R to Repair, F3 to reboot). Now the problem is that 2K is on one 120Gig HDD with no seperate partitions and I obviously want to keep my data as far as possible. I would like install either XP/2K on a seperate partition whilst retaining my data. I'm assuming that I'll need to create a seperate partition to re-install XP/2K, but should I leave 2K on the new partition and have it formatted when install XP/2K over it? What do I need to seperate Windows anyway just the WINDOWS folder? I have tried Googling this but can't really find a good step by step guide.

Fi you have enough space, create a logical partition from your free space and dump everything you want to keep into that. Then delete and reinstall xp/2k on the active partition. Do you know how to do all that? Or should I find you a web manual?

OK, thnx. I'll try that over the weekend. I'll probably make the partition on my seond drive and then change the jumpers.
