Conker is badass!

I just was able to pop this into my Xbox over the lunch break. I was able to run a simulation with the dumbots. They actually have pretty good A.I. I picked the setting in the middle called vanilla. You can go and individually adjust the AI of each dumbot as well, and also you can have a random generator that will do that for you, as well as pick the class of the AI controlled character- or go through and set it yourself. The multiplayer has just as much frantic action going on around you as the demo had in jade empire for the single player. I was only able to play as the squirrel with the flame thrower, but it is by far the best flame thrower in any game. I can see how to people it may be confusing, but from what I saw on my playthrough, it looks like a very fun and rewarding experience to learn and pick up. There is just so much going on in the game. I played the beach level. I can't wait to play through it with the bears and pick off squirrels as they come rushing in from the sea. There is 8 levels over all. I hope they are all as large as the beach one, cause that one looks to be really big. Graphics are the best I have seen on any game currently out - bar none.

I'm pumped for this game, I brought the manual to work to look at in between coding sessions, but it is all I can think about. I might even go buy the strategy guide, which is something that I NEVER do. I had never played the original, so it looks like I will get good value out of this title. And I don't even have Live either.... but this is one game that might put me over the edge to subscribe to it.

Any else have any other impressions?

I'm curious how one unlocks the ability to turn off all the bleeping during the speech. I see the option there (at least I think that's what it does), but it's grayed out.

Gotta beat the game first. That's $%#& stupid.

I'm so excited to pick this up today! Suddenly GAF seems to dislike it (because it got 8's? It's on Xbox?), but I've been waiting to play it again for a long time. Multiplayer online is just a bonus.

Its always been censored. even in the N64 version. I doubt theres a way to uncensor it
It's already been confirmed by Rare that you can unlock a way to remove the censoring.

I was havin' a blast with this at lunch today ---- the online is so damn crazy, it's gonna take a while to get the fun out of it.

it's really really hard to aim, on top of that it's hard to tell when you've hit someone --- and there doesn't seem to be any one-hit kills. (I did manage to get someone with a snipe, after about 3 shots ... the 3rd shot being the 2nd bullet type)
But more time spent with this should open it up a bit.

played some on and offline --- the bots were a lot more intellegent than the Livers, but it is launch day and the AI has had more practice : P

can't wait to get home tonight and give it another go.

You can download the save state from xbox-saves and unlock the cussing.

I'm not familiar with xbox-saves

Can this be done through Live?

How does one go about doing this? Is there a site that can explain this to me?

Hehehe, almost as funny the second time! :D

The Xbox version is censored even more than the N64 version the first time through. When you beat Conker (Xbox) the first time (as mentioned in this thread), you can uncensor the game completely.

What I am wondering about now is the ability to run Deathmatch in the game. The manual states that it can be done in the options when you are on Xbox live, but I need to know if I can do it on the solo game. Also, it mentions how you can unlock more character abilities and avatars on Xbox live by gaining the CP rating points. Can you do this offline with the dumbots?

Anyone have the guide that came out with the game? I am really wondering if it is worth picking up?

Am I the only one who thinks it's funnier to hear beeps rather than the actual swearing?

Bleeps are ok, but watching Chappelle's Show Season 1 & 2 on DVD uncensored if funnier IMO.

In multi..does anyone know how to destroy the blockades? Is there more to just shooting tons of shit at it? I get through them, but very slowly...there's no feedback showing that I'm hitting something, so I'm not sure whether or not I'm actually doing anything or it's all my teammates.

Like the first blockade on the beach level...what should I be shooting at? And with what?

I'm with you. The dialog was designed with the bleeping in mind.

Part of what made Conker so great was that you couldn't believe Nintendo would let them make this game.

Meh.

I've played a little bit of the single player so far. It doesn't seem that good to me. The cut scenes take forever, and they're sort of stupid and useless. I've only played for an hour though.

There is a save with everything unlocked, including the potty mouth :)

Thanks for that, looks like I'll be playing uncensored!

I think.

Just you guys know, Potty Mouth is an option in Multiplayer and it's unlocked when single player is complete. I still have no idea what it does. If you guys figure it out let me know please :)

Is there a cheat to get it unlocked?

If not, this is a definite NO BUY.
Yeah stupid game rewarding you with unlocking something for beating it...bah whats next advancing the story after I beat the last boss...who wants that....

quick question: is the game really only 2 player splitscreen?

On one Xbox, sure. You can of course do system link and play on Live as well.

The game's single player mode is prrtty much the same as the N64 version with a few changes here and there (so far); that's what I bought the game for and I love it.

Tried a dumbot match once and really wasn't feeling it; I'd prefer a first person view over the third person view, too. Just don't know about multiplayer; right now it sucks IMO.

Going to pick it up in a little bit.

Is the game Xbox Live Aware (so if I am in single player, can I still see my friends list and get invites and stuff)?

Meh, I could give a shit about censoring cursing on the first playthrough...but I doubt I can get interested in the game without the option of 4P splitscreen like in the original...that aspect lasted far longer than the singleplayer (still gets played to this day, though infrequently)

dammit rare

Yeah, but you have to sign in manually for some reason.

It appears I can use something called Mega-X Key or something like that. That kind of shit scares me.
You can use Xbox Saves Manager, it is a free program used to transfer saves to your Xbox using your memory card. If you don't even have a Xbox memory card you can make your own with a USB drive (most work) and a USB to Xbox adaptor :)

anyone know which one of these that are a conker quote?

A. Eat lead, muther buzzer!
B. Eat my shorts!
C. Eat lead, buzzsuckers!
D. Chew on this, buzzsuckers!

thx

A

He says it when you successfully reach the queen's hive either the first or second time

I will PM you my address shortly

bleeps are funny sometimes. An example would be buster going on a rant about his mother in arrested development.

It's a pretty $)@&% unlockable feature. Unlockables should be things like new characters or weapons or difficulty levels that add to the gameplay, not just mildly alter 2% of cutscene dialogue. I'm not a big fan of "now you get to play in a different outfit" unlockables either.

I want, but I'm too poor. Maybe I'll pull out my N64 and Conker tonight. If I squint my eyes hard enough maybe it'll look a little like the Xbox version... :(

It is kinda funny how people talk about Xbox Live like it's this amazing service, but you can't even trade game saves over it. I wonder why MS is so stodgy about that? It would get people a helluva lot more excited than the prospect buying virtual t-shirts from VelocityGirl.

Well, it's not like Sony is striving to set the bar any higher, are they? You goddamned Sony evangelist....
