Conor McGregor and Floyd have agreed to terms on a fight

Kick his ass Floyd.

Should be one hell of an event. One fanbase will be left in shambles.

Bahahaha! McGregor and MMA fans win no matter what happens. Everyone knows, boxing is on the way out and if it was a REAL fight Mayweather would get demolished. This is a easy payday for McGregor whether he wins or not.

Man, some of ya'll love living vicariously that somehow if this was a "real" fight McGregor would win. LOL

Boxing isn't going anywhere. Both sports can coexist.

And why would I want them?
Yeah I still have some love for boxing. Great sport. I'd like to see the Heavyweight division make a nice comeback. I was a huge fan of the Klitschko bros back in the day but even they got boring. Not even sure what the fuck is going on with that division now.

Conor actually does have great boxing skills. He uses his feet and has a ridiculous straight left. Very accurate, but it will be so much less powerful with boxing gloves, and he doesn't have much variety in his boxing attack because he doesn't need it.

Floyd is much older, but is also a well known performance enhacing drug user, which is why all these guys can continue to fight into their 40s. So that will certainly offset that.

But this is most likely going to be an absolute clown shit show. You thought Pacquiao and Floyd was boring? Floyd is going to use his illegal and muddy tactics, of holding, ducking way below the waste, and elbowing, all of which are explicitly illegal in boxing.

This fight will be ugly and boring, and Floyd will not line up for Conor to get his shots off, and Conor has zero ability to hurt Floyd on the body with Floyd's technique.

If this fight happens, it will be a very very very boring points win for Floyd. Floyd and Conor both know this. They don't care. They just want to cash in, well that has always been Floyds MO, hating the fans.

Boxing can have the lowest lows, but the highs are the best of all that sport that has to offer. A great fight, nothing better in sport. HW division is coming back, biggest fight in perhaps a decade, Kiltchiko and Joshua.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

I've been hearing about boxing being on the way out since the 90's. You let me know when Boxing actually exits the building.

I'm sorry I didn't realize that boxing was fake fighting.

Someone call mike Tyson and tell him the news.

The Klitschko Bros, Wladimir in particular, are the reason the Heavyweight Division lost its glamor in America. However, if Vitali had remained healthy and it was him as THE champion instead of Wlad, I think the Heavyweight Division would've been in much better shape. Being that Wladimir is on his way out, hopefully, Joshua finishes him, there is a chance it could resurge back in the limelight with the new crop of Heavyweights.

Who was the last person floyd knocked out ,ricky hatton also hes 40 now I think people are at their oqn peril

That's what happens when you fight elite boxers with great chins who most had never been knocked out before fighting Mayweather.

Conor is not an elite boxer and has never had to deal with fighting a superior athlete that is faster, quicker, has far better footwork, stamina, better defense, better counter punching and combination punching within a boxing over the course of 12, 3-minute rounds.

It's not a real fight, it's a boxing match and despite what some people on the internet think boxing is going nowhere.

What is is with the internet and picking sides? Most of the people I know who watch MMA also watch boxing, too many people are into it for the bloodlust and not for the sport.

Stop.... Please stop...

Please.... make an actual point.... write complete sentences....have an interesting thought. Perhaps dat ain't possible.

Probably the most boring matchup of all time.

Yes, it will be so damaging to combat sports. Pac Floyd did the game no favors at all. This is going to be so so ugly and boring. It's going to be horrible. Pointless and stupid. Most boxing matches among pros are barely watchable, this is going to be a joke.

The moment you said Conor had elite boxing was when I decided not to point out the obvious. Nothing about Conor's boxing skills is elite. Maybe above average but definitely not elite.

LOL. Dude do you know how to read? Dyslexia? Delusions? Funny how the rudest ones can't even be bothered to read the post, but pretend they do.

The word elite was never mentioned, but go ahead and make stuff up to massage your ego. I said he has great skills. Read. Don't make stuff up to win an argument. " Stop... Please Stop..." And you can't even read a post?

Adrien Broner? LMAO. I hope you are joking, or you don't really know much about boxing, which seems apparent to me. He's not a PPV star on that level even a little, anyone who follows boxing knows this.

Personally I'd rather see Mayweather take on someone like Gennady Golovkin but that has less of a chance of happening than Floyd fighting Conor

They've said a million times, they're not looking to fight a monster. Floyd told him to fight Ward. And frankly, on this single point, Floyd is right. GGG is far too big for him. There are plenty of potential amazing fights for Floyd, but at this point in his career he openly says he is not going to fighting the young killers.

Brook, or Spence would be great fights. Spence especially. Styles makes fights. Before Khan got sparked, or maybe Lara could've given Floyd fits. Khan had the style to really trouble Floyd. But thats why he fought Maidana instead.

Oh I know the reasons and the talk but I'd still rather see Floyd actually take on somehow he can't just dance around. I thought Canelo was going to be that guy but he went down like most other fighters of his type when going against Floyd. GGG would be interesting whereas a lot of Floyd's potential fights at this point wouldn't be that interesting in my opinion.

pardon my french.... you saying Conor is a Great Boxer was what I meant....

Didn't even say that. I said he has great boxing skills. That's literally how he wins his fights. Amazing at circling and using his feet, with a world class straight left, that is also accurate.

No that is not what you meant. Saying someone is an elite boxer versus saying someone has great boxing skills is very different, and if something like that confuses you, I really don't understand why you are even here.

And yes, Conor has great boxing skills, especially in the context of UFC. Not an elite boxer. But, it's sooooooooo bizarre for anyone to say he doesn't have great boxing skills. That's just so absurdly bizarre and completely wrong.

Adrien Broner, LMAO!

Oh man, GGG v Floyd would be incredibly interesting. That would be a dream for the fans. But even in his prime, I don't think Floyd would've considered GGG. Floyd took vacations to evade Cotto and Margarito like a decade ago.

At this point in his career, both him and PAC are just kinda not that interesting. They will only make fights that are for money and for the really really niche fans that will watch anyway. I mean Pac is fighting Jeff Horn? zzzzzzzzzzz. Pac or Floyd has fighters who are going to excite us with amazing matchups, that's over.

Boxing and MMA can both coexist. They are both fantastic sports when there is exciting match ups on the table.

And the MMA fanbase won't be in shambles when Conor loses. If you read the forums / comments on MMA sites the vast majority of people think Floyd is gonna win the fight pretty easily. Sure there are some outliers that think Conor will win but the majority realize that boxing isn't Conor's sport. At the end of the day he is an MMA fighter.

I do actually like boxing but the only draw for me is when GGG or Canello fights. Otherwise I could care less.

One of these days Canelo will take on GGG and most likely get eaten by him. Should still be a helluva fight and a lot more entertaining than when Canelo took on Mayweather.

It's not bizarre, Conor doesn't have great boxing skills. Repeating it isn't gong to make it any more true. Boxing is boxing, and if he had great boxing skills like you suggest then it should easily translate in a boxing ring, right?

Conor couldn't beat the top 50 ranked boxers in the welterweight division.

OK there are many other good fighters. That's on you if you don't want to watch them.

Boxing will never die. For as long as people are willing to fight for a prize, or pride, it will exist. I don't like either of them, but I know Mayweather will demolish Connor easily.

The difference between proper punching and blocking will be on full-on display when the fight happens. Either way, both guys are winners.

Yeah, even Conor knows this, I'll bet. This is a big crash grab rather than some mouthwatering matchup.

Boxing and MMA can both coexist and do now. There was a time when the two base of fans used to always argue which is better. But both sports live off the superstars. Before Conor exploded, and Brock Lesnar was gone, the numbers were looking really bleak for a while.

And boxing is just insane in how its feast or famine. Conor can box for sure. But Floyd knows it all. He can pot shot from the outside, and smother Conor very easily when they fight on the inside. It'll be an ugly fight, but Floyd will coast to a victory. Conor is probably the best boxer in the UFC, but that will still not be enough to hang with an old Floyd.

As a fan of sport I'll suggest checking out Errol Spence and Terrance Crawford.

Hell yes. Big fan of Spence. Spence Brook is my most anticipated fight. That will be fucking awesome. Been a Spence fan for a long time. Crawford is the truth too. Superstar. Lomachenko is an incredible fighter too.

Or upcoming matchups instead of fighters like Thurman vs Garcia, Spence vs Brook, Golovkin vs Jacobs, Canelo vs Chavez Jr, Joshua vs Klitschko, Bellew vs Haye, Lemieux vs Stevens, etc...

Sensible post. In fact MMA actually has a lot of upside as a sport in where it could go, whereas Boxing has already been to the peak of the mountaintop in terms of popularity, but still coasts along as it's been doing for decades.

No lie, my father who brought me up to be a huge boxing fan, later in life became a massive MMA fan and totally disinterested in Boxing. LOL

How do you know that? Yes, lets pull out random metrics from our asses. Funny, you keep repeating he does not have great boxing skills, without any reasoning, while I'm the one that repeats himself? Look up this word, hypocrisy.

I actually explained why he obviously has great boxing skills. Lets see. Destroying MMA fighters with boxing? Not being able to beat the top 50 welters is your definition of having great boxing skills? Yes, saying baseless random things, always does help arguments.

Boxing is boxing. Lol. That means nothing. No offense but it seems like you watch boxing but don't know much about it. And Conor could probably and maybe even absolutely beat one of the top 50 ranked welters, have you actually looked at the list of the top ranked 50 welters? There are some broken down old ass fighters on it.

Regardless, think it's extremely bizarre, lacking of knowledge and just flat out preposterous to say someone who destroys professional fighters with boxing skills does not have great boxing skills. But I go ahead and make up random metrics and standards. Connor DESTROYS professional fighters with boxing. Bizzarre and contrarian to then claim he does not have great boxing skills.

See, I make points. You just keep repeating the same thing. " He is not good." Try listening to your own advice.

No, he couldn't. You're judging Connor based on MMA Fighters who aren't great or even good Boxers. Think about that. Boxing trainers have seen Conor spar against amateur boxers and journeymen and get absolutely worked.

There is more to boxing than punching and even by that metric, Conor isn't all the great at it.

You don't get to make a claim that Connor is a great boxer if he's not one.

Oh yeah, deff some good matchups. I'm not sure how I feel about Chavez though. He seems to just wanna coast by and not have much of a work ethic. Golovkin vs Jacobs is gonna be really good. Used to be a big fan of Gary Russell Jr. Not sure anymore :(

Mayweather by ko or TKO in round 4. People are crazy to think Conor can last against Mayweather. Accuracy and consistency are going to put Conor out.

LOL Russell just got into the ring by a much superior technician in Lomachenko despite Vasyl's low punch output.

Also out of all the Eastern European fighters that have emerged in Kovalev, Golovkin, Lomachenko I think Lomachenko is by far the best. I love watching his skills.

Conor has destroyed some MMA fighters who couldn't box, yes. Now, here's a trivia question: who's the best boxer Conor has faced in MMA?

Answer:
giphy.gif

If Nate Diaz had devoted his life to being a pro boxer, he'd be a journeyman at best. Conor's looking to step in the ring with one of the all time greats. He might as well play one-on-one with LeBron James and challenge Rory McIlroy to 18 holes while he's at it.

Not to say Conor is a great boxer but people posting this gif against Nate are really unfair. If we are gonna try to post gif's of Conor getting rocked on the feet we need to also post what he did to Diaz, as its pretty unfair to him to try and make it look like Diaz outclassed him

The reason that gif gets posted so often is because it's showing the moment that Conor lost that first fight for all intents and purposes. He gets KO'ed if he stays standing.

Conor eked out a W in the second fight because he used a more varied attack, but he still got lit up a bunch in the middle rounds. Basically, in both fights- the closer it looked to a boxing match, the better Nate looked against him. The closer it looked to a kickboxing match, the more it favored Conor.

Now, let me ask you this: if Conor and Nate stepped into a ring for a 12-round boxing match, who would you favor?

At 155lbs in a boxing match I favor Conor over Diaz

That's on the majority of people willing to pay to see boxing anymore. Just look at the numbers.

Lets not forget, Connor moving up two weight classes last minute, and not making a single damn excuse about it. Then instead of going back down, requests the same matchup and same weight class. Nobody in the history of combat sports has ever done that. People can post the nate gif all day.

I suppose I might favor him in the first round or two. The following, ten, though...

Let's just say I'd put my money on the other side. In any case, the point I was looking to make to the prior poster was that Floyd Mayweather is an awful lot better of a boxer than a guy who's given Conor absolute fits. We need to not be having an ongoing discussion about whether or not Conor is going to beat Floyd in a boxing ring when we all know that's not going to happen.

He moved up one class, not two. Dude was preparing for a LW title fight the first time. And basically, what it meant was that he didn't have to go through a weight cut on fight week either time. Never really saw that as some huge thing, myself.
