Console Crash Test! And the winner is...

Based on other tests of this nature, I'm going to guess GameCube was the winner?

EDIT - Damn, that was nuts. The thing was torn in half and still worked. Though I doubt it would detect any controllers at that point.

Yeah, we all know Sony's systems don't need "assistance" in breaking down. But damn the GC is one tough little bastard!! That thing is build like a damn tank.

It's been like what... three of those tests showing that the PS2 is by far the most fragile console out there?

Sony needs to learn to make durable hardware.

It's not like the XBox is any better.

And while the GameCube has the coolest hardware out of any console I can remember, I'd trade that in a second for a library like the PS2 has.

I once left my GBA outside during a thunderstorm, and it was just covered in junk. Soaking wet, leaves, e.t.c.

It worked just fine when it dried out.

How about controllers? I once(When I was younger. I HATE to lose) bit one of the ends off my Snes pad,(Street Fighter 2) and the damn thing still worked. My Genesis controller could NOT take the throw test at all. Couple of retarded deaths in Chakan the forever man(Great game) and that's all it took.

I love seeing shit like that. People abusing the hell out of consoles just to see how much it takes to break one completely. I like how the ps2 just kept falling apart when that guy was holding it. And was there any doubt the Nintendo would win? I remember a video a site, I think daily radar, put up at ps2 launch of them just trashing a system once it stopped working after a day or so. The guy just starts hitting the system, then kicks it around. It then cuts to outside as he throws it out of the second story window to the parking lot moments before a Jeep drives by and runs it over. Then the guy runs out of the building and begins jumping up and down on it screaming.

They got so much hate mail for that. People saying "I couldnt find one and you guys had enough to break one! You suck!" Was funny.

And on that spanish video....that female reporter was hot.

I've owned my Gamecube since launch. If I had a launch PS2, well, let's just say I wouldn't make the same trade.

i think gamecube and xbox will show their boot screens and then post their error message.

So while it turned on, i doubt xbox had a green light after the bootup sequence (just because of the hard drive) and gamecube for probably the last 2 tests :P

it pisses me off that they have the silver PS2 down there and they use it for a demolition experiment, bring it to the US sony!

and its fucking incredible what those sytems can go through, Nintendo really designs their systems tough.

Is there such a thing as plagiarism in television? I mean, beating up consoles isn't exactly genius, but did they have to repeat the same exact tests I did in the same exact order with the same exact result?

Are u fucking kidding me?! Why the hell do u think the sales figures of ps2 are always so high? Less than half the people i know with a ps2 are on their first one, one guy i know is on his 4th. Sony doesnt give a shit about quality because not only does cheapness in production save them money, it makes them money

So in reality you're saying there is probably less then 40 Million PS2 Gamers wordwide? :lol

Sony fixes them for free, unless I'm mistaken. Backhand that guy because he's obviously a dumbfuck.

Damn shoddy PAL consoles. :lol

That poor silver PS2. But mine's fine! *hugs silver PS2*

*sees future avatars of the hammer bits*

they only started doing that in the past year or so. For psone and the first gen PS2s, we were on our own.

Time to make a new avatar.

Oh wait, I can't have avatars yet, damn.

As for the topic, my PS2 fell off the desk a gazzilion times and it's still okay (though it looks shit), so I don't really care that much. Also, I thought the Xbox would win. Come on, that thing could survive shotgun fire, and even hit the attacker back!

I recall seeing a video of a couple kids tying a gamecube, by its handle, to a rope which was attached to the bumper of a car and then towing it across a pebble road...only to hook it back up and have it STILL work.

You guys are the only ones to ever draw that conclusion. Congratulations.

Yes they can. He's a little confused. In fact, there's a jr member with an avatar in this very thread.

Yeah I remember that. They dragged it along the road (and it was bouncing up and down as it was going along)

OMGWTF moment when they found out it still worked. :lol :lol

I'm the guy on his 4th ps2. Damn shitty things break all the time. One of mine broke when i pulled the controller cord which was stuck under the system, it made one corner of the system pull 2 inches off the carpet and it fell back down, and it scratched the shit out of my madden and broke the ps2. how ridiculous is that? luckily eb buys the things back for $100 broken (at least all the ones i ever broke, i think its down to $50 now though)

Wow, Gamecube must purely run on Nintendo magic, not hardware, cause half of it was missing when it started up! No wonder they could make the systems so small.

It's no wonder when you aren't careful.

Isn't this kind of an unfair test? As far as I know the power supply for the GameCube is external (built into the power cord, rather then into the actual console). So it should be able to boot up because the power supply would not have had any damage.

I could be wrong though, but it was an interesting test anyways.

i only had problems with my first PSX that i bought on launch.. so i dont know.

but i had lots of problems with my NES...

blowing on the cartridges, etc cleaning with a teethbrush just to play a game :)

But GameCube's BIOS isn't stored in power supply.

:lol

Watching these kinds of tests never gets old. It was crazy to see the GC still work even though half of it was broken off.

The gamecubs is a fiesty little guy. Kinda reminds me of good ol' R2D2, damn thing just keeps on ticking although its been blown to hell. and i'm on my second ps2, would probably be on my third, but I took so long to replace my first broken one that I've only had this one for a few months. Damn launch ps2's, half of my games wouldn't ever play on it. Then I sent it in to get fixed... they fixed it... worked for a month.. then no work again. If i wasn't guaranteed money to turn it in, I would of smashed it into itty bits for the shear principle of it
