Is the current from USB decent enough to charge at the same speed as the charger? You probably can't charge it much while you're playing, though. The USB flash writer uses the power socket on the GBASP, by the way, as does the headphone jack. It's pretty multi-functional.

the $8 combo pack is legit...I charge my SP (well, now DS) off of my ps2 on a pretty regular basis.
(the ps2 needs to be powered on, tho)

I have my USB charger at work, and it seems to charge at the same rate as the standard one. Although that might just be the GBASP doing its fixed 3 hour timing thing (I think I remember something about that?)

Anyway, its very handy when you forget to charge at home.

Using USB is ultra geek!

Why would you want to do this?

It's one less wall socket you need to find. Sometimes, a USB port is easier to locate and use than an outlet or power strip. i can easily think of a few situations like this where having a USB charger would've helped.
