converting to dvd format

I use a Divx to DVD program thats part of Roxio Media Creator, but there are other Divx->DVD programs out there.

I dunno about fast though, seems like it takes forever. Something like 8 hours for a 90 minute clip to encode it.

I use NeroVision Express 3. I just drop my video files in, and it converts it and burns it to DVD for me. Haven't yet run into anything that it couldn't do. It can take a while though, so I usually let it do it's thang overnight. There are a lot of options for customizing as well, if you're into that.

Winavi Videoconverter works very well at turning most files into dvd. I made the NBA2k6 HD wmv into a dvd with it the other day.

Winavi for the win. It's so much faster than anything else you really don't believe it when you use it the first time. It converts almost anything, too, is extremely easy to use and generally just blows other programs away unless you have very paticular needs (multiple language mkv's, specifically).

so whats the best way to put say an entire downloaded series on to DVD and have it play in a regular dvd player? Is it possible?

I keep saying it but nobody listens. DVDSanta!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't take long either. I can take a two hour avi or something and get the DVD files in around 2 hours give or take. This isn't VCD or SVCD either, actual VOB files and shit.

That's why I like Nero Vision. I'm a noob, too, and this is very easy to use. The program will let me throw the files in there, and I can then create whatever menu I like and it will convert and burn it all at once. Simple. It will also automatically compress the video down if you want to fit more episodes on or if the file is too big. You can also download stuff like more fonts and pictures for the menu background if you want. Winavi and Santa sounds pretty good, but this way I don't have to F around with multiple programs and video files. Gets it done all at once.

No, it would just do one right after another. If you want something that'll produce menus and be all pro and shit....I suggest "procuring" Adobe Encore DVD.

You'd have to use a DVD authoring program for that.

Use something like TMPGEnc to make the DVD mpeg files, and then an authoring program to make your menus and whatnot to select the shows.

Nero vision wins! I only ever used nero for burning music, didn't know it could do dvd so competently. here comes the archives. takes soooo long to encode them though, but thats across the board right?

Ill throw in another vote for nero vision. I just used it to create a DVD of the pink floyd live 8 performance and it worked great, even did a good job of converting the PAL mpg to NTSC format and is super easy to use. Simple menu creation as well.

Winavi. Easy as pie. MUCH faster than Nero. Why won't you people listen? Doesn't do the menu, but you can just pop the vobs through TMPGenc DVD Author afterwards. Only takes like 10 minutes.
