the next million seller ;)

i suppose that might be appealing if you didn't know how to cook for real....

or if it was just one component of a restaurant simulation, like Pizza Tycoon (a game which I found impossibly hard and frustrating, BTW)

where is the fun of cooking when you cannot smell or taste the results? I mean seriously. The same with virtual dogs and dating sims! Japanese culture is just a bit scary to me! I imagine when 'holodecks' appear, you may never see a japanese person in real life every again.

why is there a top gun copyright at the bottom of the scan?
Both Cooking Mama and Monster Bomber are set for Japanese release on 3/23. They will be preceded by the Japanese release of Top Gun on 2/23, also from Taito.
Link to earlier topic

There was probably some Topgun info in that article or mention of the game.

Are you ever positive about something Nintendo?

On Topic this looks interesting, who's developing it?

You are aware that the same thing could be said about sports games, farming games, fishing games, and about a dozen other activities... right? Do you understand the concept of "games?"

gimmicky crap for the disenfranchised and the middle-aged.

actually, i'd rather the jaded folk interested in this type of game simply get out of gaming rather than send the message to decent developers that we want shit like this.

Cooking games have so much more potential than this @_@ this is a girls-only game!!

They should have cooking contests where your life is on the line, your gf needs saving and tournaments need winning etc. lots and lots of TV shows, movies and animes about this exist in the East, all very funny, amusing and wacky. Really fun genre!

This looks abit dull.

I could probably prepare and cook real food for far less than it'd cost me to buy this game, but whatever, DS non-games=printing money and all that

In case anyone takes me seriously, that was just tongue in cheek. I dig girly stuff.

I'm deeply saddened that this and the Top Gun game are not related. Cooking while piloting a fighter jet is about the most exciting thing I can imagine. Maybe this just means there's still room for someone else to make this...

LMAO because there actually was a Japanese dating sim where the very concept of the game was that you met women in a virtual reality "holodeck"....

Actually, I'll take this opportunity to say what I really want: a DS game built around the cooking minigame in Suikoden II. Yeah, you heard me. Suikoden II DS: Cookoff Battles.

Intermixed with the battles, there would be anime cutscenes and text adventure style gameplay (similar to the Suikogaidens, to handle recipe and ingredient collection), but the, er, meat of the game would be the judged cookoffs. The touch screen could be used to pick out ingredients and recipes and to prepare and cook the dishes. The game could even star Hai Yo's son or something.

Make it happen, Konami.

But since you could not smell or taste the results, was it still fun?
