You can blame me Argentina fans. I am now 100% on picking losing teams to root for. All Atlanta, Georgia Tech, USA, OKC during this recent NBA playoffs and now Argentina. Ugh. I think I need to quit watching sports.
I'll give Chile credit they're a resilient team with multiple world-class players and great team play. They slayed the Spain witch and beat Messi in 2 finals. Messi was broken like a teenage girl on the sidelines. Those are amazing feats that validate Chile's class.
tell that to the argentinians who just saw a messi led team piss away yet another title.
We've seen clubs assemble GOAT level players before and other than Arrigo Sachi's AC Milan. No one has ever produced the level of play Barcelona has demonstrated in the last decade. The one constant has been Messi.
This post sounds just like the ones from a year ago and the ones from two years ago.I blame this on Argentina's strikers more than Messi. Argentina should have won this in normal time.
Argentina is the Cruz Azul of international football.

I'm going to disagree with this completely. If you want to be the best of all time you absolutely have to show up in moments like this. What a choke job.
Wait, past Copa America weren't televised in the US in English? Does Fox even hold the rights for the next Copa?"The next Copa America will be in 2019. Brazil will be the host of that one."
ARE YOU GOING TO TELEVISE THIS IN THE UNITED STATES FOX?
Wait, past Copa America weren't televised in the US in English? Does Fox even hold the rights for the next Copa?
Will we go back to 10 CONMEBOL teams + 2 invitees?
Will we really have to go back to playing Gold Cups every two years?

Messi is better than Maradona but you are understating the value of those two Serie A titles with Napoli. That was truly remarkable feat especially when you consider that arguably the greatest team of all time played only a few hours north of them.
A Pitbull show is obviously more important that let the team celebrate his winSo they cut to this guy now while chile is still on the field,
I'm sorry organizers that singer ain't Pitbull.
Pitbull's a chilean player.

Seriously. Can we do this Copa ActuallyAmerica every 4 years now? What an incredibly exciting tournament all around.
Lot of really good games, much more exciting than the Euro so far for my money.
Maradona's among one of the five greatest players ever. You can make the Messi Maradona argument in good faith, but to say that Messi can't be greater than Maradona without a world cup title is not that.
Strikers have been disastrous under pressure, but there are more enough replacements for the team and young to boot.
The question is who is going to coach Arg now. As disastrous as Martino is, i can't think of a good coach that would abandon his current team. It'll be just another bastard with no plan.

Seriously.
Plus having it being played in the same year as the Eurocup makes for a pretty exciting football filled summer. I'd say fuck playing in 2019. Make a Copa ActuallyAmerica in 2020 in Brazil with 16 teams.
I'd like to think that after this Copa (I'm sure the most successful of all time by a mile) these conversations are going to be had within CONCACAF and CONMEBOL.
As far as I know merging this Copa is the confeds decision. Not FIFA's.
BeIN Sports? Do people watch that channel? If ESPN is A-tier and Fox Sports is B-tier would you say BeIN is up there with Fox or lower? First time I hear about that channel. The 2011 Copa was on Univision (and streamed on YT in English if I remember correctly) in the US
2015 was BeIN Sports in the US
As far as I know, Fox only had the rights to Copa Centanario and the hosting rights to the 2019 Copa in the US haven't been decided yet.
Agreed. Cryuff never won it, granted he only played in one WC, but he and the Dutch team certainly left a lasting impression on the game. To be frank Argentina has been rather boring given the amount of attacking talent they have had since Messi first broke into the scene.
I just realised Mascherano played in five of those finals.Copa América 2004 - Argentina 2nd Place
Confederations Cup 2005 - Argentina 2nd Place
Copa América 2007 - Argentina 2nd Place
World Cup 2014 - Argentina 2nd Place
Copa América 2015 - Argentina 2nd Place
Copa América Centenario 2016 - Argentina 2nd Place
I mean... you can blame Tata, or Messi, or Higuaín, but at some point it has to go beyond what happens on the field.
Also congrats on the Chileans! I had an inkling it would end up this way after the Mexico game. Can't be that sore after you became champions.
Michel Platini never won it either. Neither did Paolo Maldini, ditto for the incomparable Zico and Socrates.
Their brilliance never questioned. Their legacies always secure. Yet somehow it's always Messi who's judged solely by a tournament that happens every 4 years.

Messi is very good but his lack of win with his national team stops him from being the best everMichel Platini never won it either. Neither did Paolo Maldini, ditto for the incomparable Zico and Socrates.
