I was wondering what the normal CPU temperature is b/c i built a PC for my friend and the alert keeps coming up whenever he is playing a PC game. I turned off the alert but the temperature keeps going higher than the recommended. How can i adjust the fan or what can i do to keep it running cooler. The CPU is a 3 GHZ P4 if you need to know that and the CPU fan is a beast so i don't know whats up with that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you want to keep it below 50c.

It was getting to around 62 is that a big deal? I checked all fans and stuff and everything is working great so i was wondering if that might be a normal temperature when playing games. Thanks again.

When under stress, that's not an unheard of temperature. You'd be amazed the temperatures a modern CPU can withstand. Mine tends to hover around or a little above 50C overclocked and I've had no stability issues.

You applied a thermal pad/compund when you put the heatsink on, right? Maybe you didn't put it on squarely and it needs to be reseated. Just take the heasink off, clean everything thoroughly (google what you need to use), and reinstall it.

yeah i was just reading a few sites maybe i should have did that first. Although it isn't bad getting advice from other PC users also. But it seems to be an average or ok temperature. Thanks for the help guys. Peace
