Earlier this fall it was rumored that McG was circling TERMINATOR 4. He was on the "short list" of directors to direct the fourth installment in the TERMINATOR series and now we can exclusively report that McG has, in fact, signed on to direct TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE FUTURE BEGINS. We received a report last night about the signing from an inside source and we were able to independently confirm the news this morning. With McG at the helm, at least you can guarantee a good looking movie. Whether it'll be any good remains to be seen. McG, for all his visual flair, has yet to really impress me, though he did make some strides with WE ARE MARSHALL. Warner Bros. recently gave the film a greenlight and is looking to get filming in "early 2008" for a summer 2009 release. The script by John Brancato and Michael Ferris (TERMINATOR 3) was locked in October due to the writer's strike. The fourth film is described as being as big in siza and scale as TERMINATOR 3 but with a smaller budget now that Arnold Schwarzenegger is no longer part of the production (Claire Danes and Nick Stahl will not be returning either). So McG huh? What say you JoBloers?

Fear has become reality :(

Ugh.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!

They need to save this franchise for when I become an established director.

Do not let the Charlie's Angels guy do it. That is probably the worst idea ever.

Is he still trying to make Battle Angle? I haven't kept up.
Potentially after Avatar, yes. So, probably 2011-2012 at the earliest.

He's doing AVATAR first and it will redefine movies!

James Cameron needs to come back and make movies again in general. It's been a decade already!
He's making one right now, 2009 will be the second coming of Christ.

..What did people actually think terminator 4 was going to be good?

fix'd. I seriously don't understand how they go from 2 to 4. Someone at the studio can't count.

You're right.. that is strange...

Is anyone else thinking that studios are just trying to see what they can get away with these days? I mean, a new Terminator movie, sans Schwarzenegger (understandably), sans cast from that movie that never existed back in 2003, with the writers from the same non-existent movie, directed by McG to boot! A perfect shitstorm if you will.

That's one hell of a hill to climb, there...

Look at the bright side, though. If it bombs, good for us! Also, if I have extremely low expectations, it could potentially surprise the lot of us. The trick is, making myself believe that I'm about to see a Terminator movie starring Gary Coleman in the quintessential role wearing a tutu while firing nerf bullets at Skynet's mainframe...in black and white...with a score featuring fall out boy's "greatest hits."

It...just...might...work!

Well, he did direct We Are Marshall, which was (apparently) nothing like the Charlie's Angels movies in style. Then again, it sucked.

There's only one studio with enough retards running it to hire McG as the director for Terminator 4. Columbia must be making the movie.
1. It's Warner Brothers.
2. The studio with the most retards running it, at least as far as geek-targeted projects are concerned, is quite demonstrably Fox (LXG, I Robot, Fantastic Four, X3, Dragon Ball).
