Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

Had a weird night about a week ago. I'm sleeping and suddenly wake up to hear this light crashing noice, like some item dropped off the wall or something. I just ignore it thinking it's exactly that.

Anyways as I try to get more sleep my breathing starts to feel really cold. I mean it was the strangest feeling. I didn't feel the coldness anywhere else than near my mouth. Again, I kind of ignore this as I think there's a window open or something and I'm really sleepy anyways so I don't want to put any more thought to it.

Next morning I don't really even remember the situation until I notice that the remote is on the floor. I mean the remote that was on top of a semi-large table. There's no way it could've just dropped off the table by itself. Now I suddenly remember what happened during the night and go to check what windows are open. Guess what, NONE of them.

All I see from reading about this is a group of people that died from exposure. All the "spooky stuff" seems to have been added in much later on.
Did you read it all? I've always found this one interesting, I'll highlight a few things that I definitely found "spooky":

An examination of the four bodies which were found in May changed the picture. Three of them had fatal injuries: the body of Thibeaux-Brignolle had major skull damage, and both Dubunina and Zolotarev had major chest fractures. The force required to cause such damage would have been extremely high, with one expert comparing it to the force of a car crash. Notably, the bodies had no external wounds, as if they were crippled by a high level of pressure. One woman was found to be missing her tongue.
Some of them had only one shoe, while others had no shoes or wore only socks. Some were found wrapped in snips of ripped clothes which seemed to be cut from those who were already dead.
After the funerals, relatives of the deceased claimed that the skin of the victims had a strange orange tan.[1]

A former investigating officer said, in a private interview, that his dosimeter had shown a high radiation level on Kholat Syakhl, and that this was the reason for the radiation found on the bodies. However, the source of the contamination was not found.

Another group of hikers (about 50 kilometers south of the incident) reported that they saw strange orange spheres in the night sky to the north (likely in the direction of Kholat Syakhl) on the night of the incident. Similar "spheres" were observed in Ivdel and adjacent areas continually during the period of February to March 1959, by various independent witnesses (including the meteorology service and the military).

o.O Well, I guess there were no more developments to the story? "Body with very long fingers" is a bit vague :lol

Oh, ive also had one of those things where, you wake up, but the rest of your body is paralyzed, so i was basically looking around my room, and at the other end was a shadow, that slowly came towards me (i was shitting myself but couldnt do a damn thing), it felt like it took every ounce of strength i had in me to raise my arm towards the shadow, until it disappeared, and then i was fully awake and could move again.

Apparently loads of people have had a very similar experience to this.

exactly the same thing have happened to me a couple of times in the past, i couldn't move i saw shadows and some white light, and every time it happened i had troubles with sleep, i use to close my eyes and think of a song that i have listened and like lately and sing it in my mind, though i really doesn't know the whole text at some point it became as i was listening the song in my mind with all the lyrics and all and i was able to think with one part of my consciousness and think at the same time with another and then i open my eyes and i couldn't move.

A not rather creepy story is when i was 12-13 i was playing one night with my brother and he used to play on those hand held brick games like tetris
images
and when the battery was almost dead the game switched to some smiley face which is not a part of any game and it kept smiling until the battery died, i was sleepy but i remember it vividly as do as my brother.

Nothing freaky has ever happened to me. But it has happened to some of my family members. My cousin said that she saw a kid in her house upstairs run across as she was heading down stairs, she asked her mum who the kid was when she made her way downstairs and her mother said that she had no idea there was one in the house. As they both made there way upstairs to look for him, they couldn't find him. They were both a little freaked out. My aunty was later about a week or longer pushed down from the top stairs but no one else was in the house at the time. She said she felt the hands on her back. Till this day they don't know what it was, but her daughter suspects it was that kid they'd seen. She also told me that there were a few other freak occurrences in that house, but I can't remember them.

My mother also told me this maid who worked for my grandmother got possessed by the devil as she was cooking breakfast many years ago. My mum was a kid and I had not been born. The maid's voiced changed and she started screaming and yelling out things. I can't remember what my mum said she was saying I'll have to ask her again. Anyway, she was very aggressive so my granddad held her to the ground and my grandmother read the Qur'an on her. She woke up moments later and she had become normal, confused as to what everyone was staring at as she had no recollection as to what happened.

My brother also said this one time that he felt this body or force sitting on top of him, and he couldn't get it off for a minute or two. He was scared and shocked. I didn't believe him. :/

The only time something strange has happened to me was when I was lying in bed once, still awake. Turned my head on the pillow and I was punched in the fucking face by the devil, it was a flash of his face for a brief moment.

I'm probably possessed. :lol

Edit: It's happened twice actually, just on different nights.

Laying in bed 1 night, i was woken up by some bubble wrap behind the headboard sliding off the box it was on. Propped it back up and went to go back to sleep.

Suddenly, it felt like something had just punched me in the side of the face. I lay in bed, tensed up shitting myself for about a minute, until i had the balls to turn around and look if there was anything in the room, there wasnt, said "Fuck this" and went back to sleep :lol
Sounds like you pissed something off there. =\

You were hacking into the matrix!

Going through this thread I found this awesome journal - Ted the Caver

I suggest reading it without any backstory, but I'll save you the googling and spoiler it for after you've read it:
Pretty well written, easily the best creepy story I've ever read, and manages a suspension of disbelief up until the very end. Turns out the guy who wrote it actually explored the cave, hence the real photos, and decided to embellish his journal into a pretty amazing story. Here's something he wrote after finding out how popular his story became and some dude was claiming to be the author - link

That is a good story. The version with the inconclusive ending is definitely the better one.

Whoa that's a lot of videos, do you have any specific recommendations?

Also, does everyone remember this thread? It's a pretty good read, this guy goes on a couple of camping trips and finds a lot of weird things like radio broadcasts and apparently a monster. He films it all as well.

I remember my mom telling me i should never play with the ouija board or anything that tempered with the "other side." I found it strange because we had one at home and it belonged to my dad. I always asked her why aside from the fact that she hated that thing. She never wanted to tell me. I always got the same response which was along the lines of 'the spirits don't like to be bothered. especially by someone who doesn't understand'. I never really understood what she meant by that seeing as i was just a little kid.

It wasn't until i was in my mid teens that she finally told me. We were going through some of my dad's boxes and tossing things that were no longer needed. He had passed away when i was twelve and it took us a while to muster up the courage to toss most of his belongings. I opened a box and there was his old ouija board. I showed my mom and she told me not to touch it. She feared things of that nature while my dad had a fascination for it. I again asked her why even though i knew i wouldn't get an answer but she decided to tell me. She said that it has brought nothing but bad spirits in this house. Things has fallen off shelves by themselves, doors slamming on their own, things like that. The one that really scared my mom and dad was when he woke up in the middle of the night, stood up, and stood by the bed similar to the movie Paranormal Activity. My mom called to him and asked what was he doing. He didn't reply. Then she heard this loud smack and my dad fell back in bed. She yelled and ran to turn on the light. When she did, she noticed my dad was bleeding from his nose. He finally came to and asked what was going on. He didn't recall a single things. After that, he never used it. He was scared to throw it away because of what people would say would happen so he just kept it in a box.

I've always been interested in things of that nature. I can honestly say i've seen things. Black sillhouettes standing by my door just staring in my direction or at least appeared to be. Hearing my name being called when no one is around. Things like that. I turned "dark" after my dad passed away because i felt alone and hated pretty much everything. I could have just been looking for things. Trying to see things that weren't there. Maybe they were and maybe i could see them.

I say just look for the ones that catch you interest based on the description. I would say try the Bigfoot, Nazi Gold, and some of the big subjects to get a taste of the show if you're unsure where to start.

Holy shit that show has some incredibly interesting episodes.

Yeah, PLUS narration by Leonard Nimoy and the two pilots were done by Rod Sterling. I mean it's win piled on top of win. You can find sets of the show on Ioffer for pretty cheap, I really wish it would get put on Hulu, apparently Universal owns it. History used to show it until the a couple of years ago.

Here is the Bigfoot episode

Here is the missing Rockefeller presumed killed by headhunters one

Oh the soundtrack was done by the guys who did SHOGUN ASSASSIN!

I've always been fascinated by the paranormal, but don't believe.

The only freaky thing that ever happened to me was seeing, and having visual and auditory hallucinations for about month last year. Don't think it was anything paranormal, but it could've been. It was a black figure that kinda looked like the neighborhood watch guy following me around.

f1000154_neighborhoodwatch.gif

He wouldn't ever say anything to me. Just typically stand in the corner, and stare, or ride in the back seat.

Just an overwhelming sense of pressure came whenever he was around.

I could never make out any of the auditory hallucinations. They were just mainly noise.

I couldn't sleep, and even when I did, I never got really any REM sleep.

Scared me shitless, and thought I was losing my mind.
Eventually, it went away when I was able to deal with external stessors, and major depression.

And no, don't quote my avatar, because I wasn't on any drugs.

I used to watch In Search Of back when I was a kid in the 70's. Between Nimoy's voice, the scary as hell electronic music and the creepy ass way it was shot (Footage always looked like it was found in some old attic), it scared the hell out out of me - And I loved every minute of it. :D

Awesome show which you will never see anything like again.

Here ya go...Watch this at 1 or 2 AM and never sleep! :lol

Well I wouldn't say never, Monsterquest and Destination Truth fill the void a bit (recreations, interviews, and such), but the focus on sending teams to explore has removed the detached documentary feel that In Search Of had. I just loved the breadth of topics ISO covered, it was like a buffet of the strange and mysterious!

Sorry, but they just aren't the same...I can't put my finger on it. In Search Of just came off as so 'genuine' if that makes any sense.

Having Nimoy seemingly, personally speaking to you gave it some kind of strange and terrifying comfort. LOL

Something happened to me last night when I was driving home. I had a couple of miles to go. I looked up and saw a glowing orange object in the sky. It was moving irregularly. Suddenly, there was intense light all around. And when I came to, I was home. What do you think happened to me?

Is your ass hole sore? Any weird scars on your body that weren't there before?

Next morning I don't really even remember the situation until I notice that the remote is on the floor. I mean the remote that was on top of a semi-large table. There's no way it could've just dropped off the table by itself. Now I suddenly remember what happened during the night and go to check what windows are open. Guess what, NONE of them.
Sounds like you have a rat problem my friend.

I have really bad sleep paralysis, I have tons of storys. When I fall into sleep paralysis its the rare type that happens when falling into sleep. It happens around 3 times a week. I suffer from really bad insomnia. Most people see shadow figures or a dark presense in the room. When I wasa a little kid this would happen all the time, most of the time I thought someone was breaking into my house, the figure would jump onto me or just be walking around, I feel this caused my insomia, I have the fear of someone breaking into my house about everynight. Anyways back to some storys.

My senses get really strong while under SP I can hear a drip a water fall from the sink in the bathroom really loud. Or anytype of noise that happens. There have been times ive been under SP for an hour, the tv was on and could determine the time. I litterly feel like ive died and im not a religous person but at these times ive asked god to forgive me and to take care of my girlfriend and daughter.

But lately ive found somthing I can do while being under SP, ive realized I can leave my body and walk around, you might think im fuckin crazy. But when this was first happening I was scared shitless untill I talked to my friend and he was like embrace it and control it and enjoy it. From what I read SP brings your body into the same state of mind as meditating. The best ive done is walk around my girlfriends house for 2 min. As you walk around you get the feeling that your opening doors but your actually not, I walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge and walked around the living room. As I start to lose control I go back into my body and usually wake out of it.

I'm a total cynic but I love stuff like this. It gives me the chills but I can't get enough of it, that Grinning Man article was fucked.

Are you serious? This is a text book alien abduction scenario... so text book, in fact, that it seems completely unbelievable.

If something like this happened to me, I would be hugely freaked out. This seems MUCH more frightening then seeing a shadowy figure out of the corner of your eye or something.

How far were you from your house? Did you lose any time? How do you feel about it all?

Dem Alienz... go get yourself some hypnosis to recover the memories, stat!

Agreed, I do like Josh Gate and Stan Bernards MQ narration, but Nimoy just wins by default. It's also sort of fun seeing him in late 1970s fashion. :lol

Regarding the genuine feelI think it was the uniform quality of the film stock. The recreations looked accurate and didn't seem to have post production effects added. They almost seemed like a camera crew was filming the events live as they happened.

Sleep paralysis is no joke. It's the most terrifying thing I've ever experienced in my life. It still happens occasionally. Imagine having a nightmare and waking up in your bed, but your brain is still sleeping. Then you start hallucinating, but you can't scream because, even though you are awake, your brain is still asleep technically and you can't move. I basically force my paralyzed self to scream until my brain snaps out of it. It's horrifying.

As far as paranormal stuff, you can't throw a baseball where I live without hitting a civil war site. One place in particular, though, was really, really scary. It's called Gathland State Park near Burketsville (aka the Blair Witch Project place). The locals call it spook hill. Basically the story is there was a battle there and the confederates had to push cannon up this hill into town. They call it spook hill because if you put your car in neutral, supposedly your car gets pushed up the hill. I did this several times and even came back with a carpenter's level. It was level. Of course I smoked a lot of pot back then, so I don't even believe myself.

The only thing I wish to add to this thread is that I love this stuff. There is nothing like reading or watching this stuff before going to bed or on a stormy night.

The Max Headroom thing freaked me out when I first saw it. If anything like that happened again I'd probably pee myself.

It really is one of the worst things I've ever encountered. I had it happen a lot in the past. The worst part is the feeling that you can't breath. Worst thing is it seemed to happen when I randomly dozed off and some times it might happen 2-3 times in one night. Imagine being next to your wife and not being able to scream to get her to wake you up. Luckily somehow she's been able to pick up faint mumblings from me and wake me up. It really is the equivalent of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. For the longest time I was terrifed I had sleep apnea and I might just die randomly.

I guess I should just be happy I'm not Hmong.
