Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

Well, if you look at it running the biggest screamer of "fake" is probably that the graphics go round in a circle. There's really no need for any radar that does not have a spinning dish to do that. If you move the phone while there are dots on it, they also stay at where the phone first saw them.
Or the fact that it says it's for entertainment purposes only in the app store description...

Yeah its just for entertainment.

Also speaking of sound frequencies, anyone ever figure out the deal with those moving rocks in the desert?
Wasn't it moist accumulating on the shadow side, causing them to slowly roll?

EDIT: I never read app descriptions. I mean, it's not like I thought it was real before I saw the radar spin thing obviously, but inside the app that struck me.

EDIT: LOL, the two ghost blobs reappeared and had one word to say, "fat". Fucking ghosts.

Also it's shittily made because the spinning line isn't even what 'updates' the blobs.

Somewhat related, I would literally pay $5 if someone could make a 'motion tracker' iOS app with the same (or similar) sounds and graphics of the motion tracker from Aliens.

The ghost radar app said "Sunday" then "bottom" then "evening" in pretty quick succession. I shall report later if anything actually happens. If I don't report back, well, your guess is as good as mine as to what has happened.

I remember standing at the bus station after orientation for an electronics job. There was a girl standing with me. I didn't pay her much attention until she stepped up to me and said she'd been at the same orientation. immediately something overtook me, not afraid of girls so this isn't an issue for girl age, just felt major uncomfortable. I honestly felt like I wanted to run, which was a bit confusing. This girl was probably mixed, or maybe just had light skinned. She had short hair. She was tallish. There was something I could only explain as ghoulish about her look, her eyes piercing. I was wishing in my mind that the bus would hurry up and come. I guess she wasn't picking up on how I felt, she started to tell me about her life. she told me she only needed this job to add with the one she already had.You see I'm a mortician she said, gleaming at me.

About 20 years ago a friend and I were parked in a cemetery smoking a spliff telling stories and he told one about when they were back at high school they were smoking a joint in a cemetery and one of them spat on a grave (Bad thing to do, I know). Anyway, when they went back home they went into the friends bedroom and all the walls were covered in condensation. Bare in mind that it was the middle of the day, summertime and there was no reason for there to be any in the house. All this time I had been spitting occasionally out the window while parked in the cemetery.

After awhile we decided to leave. I turned the key, the car wouldn't start, it sounded like the battery was dead. We gave the car a push and eventually got it going. Once we got home we decided to check out under the hood. All the wires were in place, no corrosion around the battery terminals, took the caps off the battery and inside the battery was bone dry. Not a drop of water.

Ah, I love this thread and all the creepy happenings you guys describe.

And like everyone else, I only seem to notice it in the middle of the night.

I was planning on heading down to my basement to get some cereal.

Then I read this thread. My basement creeps the shit out of me.

what. the. fuck.

You know I just recently remembered this, but my grandparents used to own this really old house where my great grandparents and my uncle died (other people died there I am sure too)

Anyways this happened when I was 9. My parents and other relatives where in the kitchen playing cards and I was there getting a soda. My cousin comes down stairs and says "The man upstairs told me to say hello". She did not even know my uncle at all and even showed us the room she said he was in, it was the room in which he accidentally over dosed.

That house still creeps me out to this day, the basement of the area was so creepy that most of the adults absolutely REFUSED to go into it. A few times while sleeping over with my cousins when I was little, the tiny tool shed area would often shake. Kind of want to do a lock-in kind of thing with my friends there since it has had a total of 12 owners since my grandparents sold it, all of which moved out because they say it was haunted.

Do it and record it all with cameras/voice recorders for science GAF!

Funny that this thread came up today. Last night my wife and I were watching "Insidious" on the first floor of our house. My son's room is on the second floor and our master bedroom is above it on the third.

I tell you this because we paused the movie about 2/3rds of the way through so my wife could go use the 1st floor bathroom. While I'm waiting for her, my son comes down stairs. He says, "Can you go upstairs and tell mommy to stop jumping around or something. She woke me up again."

It freaked me out a bit because I know my wife has been downstairs with me for the last hour and she's still down in the 1st floor bathroom. So I go up to the 3rd floor to investigate and I don't see or hear anything.

Maybe the kid just had a bad dream? I dunno, but it was weird.

You know what they say. When kids start to see or feel stuff, shit gets real. Of course, nobody believes them, because they're kids ...

Encounter in the Pilliga Region

I'm rather disturbed at this recording of a late-night call-in on a regional Australian overnight radio show. While there could be a completely rational explanation - such as some kind of latent PTSD explosion or drug-related psychosis given that it was 1978 - this sounds very earnest and I'm sitting here with chills.

If anyone knows those desolate roads and back country of Australia's inland, you'd be well-aware of just what a ripe place it is for strange occurrences.

Does anyone know any other similar radio recordings like this one?

someone is reading numbers on radio stations, it was first noticed when radio was invented literally, around th time of WW1, and they are still on the air, from time to time. mainstream theories tell of encoded messages for purposes of war, fringe theories suggest that Number stations were broadcast from beginning of time, waiting for someone to hear them.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I've had ideas for stories that involve that, it's really creepy when you think about it. Is there hard evidence that the numbers broadcast pre-date the radio, or is that just speculation?

Also, I'd be amiss to say... "WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN, MASON!?"

biggest problem in placing some logic on the signal is that it was broadcast on very specific frequencies, that would require knowledge not common in that period (ww1).

and, another problem was that best explanation for their usage - spies, doesnt add up -

for a worldwide transmission, i takes High frequency/low power ratio that could only be received with large antennas, and high power equipment.

so, it basically turns out that Number stations are for some silly people that dont wanna use phones, and use artificially generated voices to transmit messages on long distances. for no purpose.

Its even creepy with all those weird draws and unknown plants

this is fascinating (and, yes, creepy... in a way I can't put my finger on).

My rational side tells me it was something designed/written by a complete mad man- and there really is no way to accurately decipher it...
but there are always the "what if's" that linger with me long after my rational side has gone to sleep. :)

the problem with associating Voynich manuscript with a madman or a Troll is that it too good to be that way. language is too complex to be considered gibber gabber.

some Cryptographer from US in 70's has figured out that it is 2 languages, or 2 different persons who wrote the book. all sections part from botanic one, are exclusively from language A or B.

the second most intriguing thing is that there are NO errors, or text stretching/shorting to fit the page. which implies that the book is:

1. A copy of another manuscript

2. written by someone that has perfected the language in unreasonable way, and is very careful person.

either way, kudos for the writer, cause at that time, even copies held several mistakes, books without them are rare as skinny girls with big boobs.

Not to turn this thread into skepticism central but this hardly discounts espionage, at all. European countries would only need a couple thousand miles of range to communicate with spies in nearby territory, for starters.

Numbers stations are really cool, but it is really really likely they are/were used for covert encrypted communication. That doesn't make them any less fascinating, though, unless you will settle for nothing less than ghost-talk.

Aww, let's not skeptic up this cool thread.

Also, did anyone ever read that story about the creepy Spongebob episode? Post it if you find it, I'd like to read it again.

The only things I've been remotely skeptical about are the Voynich manuscript (which I've admitted is unsolved) and numbers stations (which are still unsolved to an extent). Ghost stories and other paranormal/cryptozoology stuffs I leave alone. I think, for the most part, we all understand that we post these sort of stories for cheap thrills and not for critical analysis. That's for another thread.

Right...so we're going to ignore that some number stations originate from military bases, are purposely jammed by countries on occasion, and have actually been used as evidence AGAINST foreign spies in a court case.

Hrmmm.....

When I was a kid, I was out in my front yard at night, looking up into the sky with a telescope thingy. I have the strongest, clearest memory of locking onto this perfect sphere in the sky. It looked dark and 'hard' (metal?), perfectly spherical, and it was illuminated by various rows of differently colored/sized lights around its surface. I looked at it a bunch of times over a period of about 10 minutes. I went inside and told my mom to come look, but she was busy. She told me it was a satellite. (Maybe she was right? I've got no idea.)

Of these 5 individuals, 2 have committed suicide, 1 has gone missing, 1 refuses to comment on the tape, and the last hastily agreed to give paranormal investigators the tape shortly after being interviewed about the suicide and disappearances of the other 3 persons. The current whereabouts of the tape are unknown, and many who stare at this image for a long enough period of time claim to see Spongebob blink..."

urban legend type shit if I've ever seen it...
still interesting, though. :)

Shit thats a bit creepy, I didnt know about that, reminds me of Lost.

Is it normal to catch TV audio from any radio?, it happens in the northwest region of my country.

But with all the technology that we have, cant anyone triangulate those signals and go to that location to check out whats going on?

Yep, happens all the time. Most signals are traced back to remote areas of their countries of origin.

From Wiki:
"Although it is time-consuming and may require costly global travel to pinpoint the source of a radio transmission in the shortwave band, errors at the transmission site, radio direction-finding, and a knowledge of shortwave radio propagation have provided armchair detectives clues to some number station locations."

I was always creeped out by The Cleveland Torso Murderer... another one which was never solved:

There are also suggestions of CTM being linked to The Black Dahlia murder.
Also made for a disappointing end to Eliot Ness' career. Brian DePalma and Kevin Costner should reteam. :)
