Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

I just had a death in my family so I've had about 10 hours sleep total in a week. I'm hallucinating like crazy and seeing shadows everywhere, this thread isn't helping one bit.

The Valentich Disappearance listed above was a creepy one. Reminds me of a plane story (I think I know of thanks to this thread) that talks about some pilots who are in radio contact with an air traffic control tower as they're flying over the city at which they're supposed to land only the city's not there like that Twilight Zone episode. That one was pretty creepy to me. I'm sadly unable to find it. Maybe I just fabricated the entire story.

I remember reading that too, It's a Bermuda Triangle story. Here's a link to one site I found that had that story:
http://www2.mcdowellnews.com/news/2...es-weird-pilot-and-passenger-fly-s-ar-315745/

In June 1964, a young American pilot and her passenger took off from Nassau in the Bahamas for a flight to Grand Turk Island. They had no idea that they were flying into the one of the greatest mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle.

Just 22 years old, Carolyn Cascio was a licensed pilot from Greenville, Miss. On June 7, 1964, she and a passenger departed Nassau Airport for a 465-mile flight to Grand Turk Island of the Turks and Caicos Islands. They were flying in Cascio’s Cessna 172 airplane and the weather was clear.

While flying to Grand Turk Island, Cascio radioed to Nassau Airport to report that her compass was “spinning erratically.” She also could not contact the airport in Grand Turk Island. But airport officials there could hear what she was saying.

Cascio had apparently left her microphone keyed in the open position. This allowed officials at Grand Turk Island’s airport to hear what both Cascio and her passenger were saying in the plane’s cockpit, according to a Web site.

“I don’t understand this,” stated Cascio. “I must have made a wrong turn. This should be Grand Turk, but there’s nothing down there, no airport, no houses.”

Her passenger was heard acknowledging this.

Cascio was also heard saying that she was flying over an island that looked totally uninhabited. There was no sign of any towns, buildings or roads. “It has to be Grand Turk, but it’s not there,” she said. “It looks like Grand Turk but it just can’t be.”

At the same time that she was circling overheard, people in many places on Grand Turk Island reported seeing a small plane flying around in the sky for approximately 30 minutes.

Cascio was flying directly above the airport in clear conditions but apparently could not see it. Airport officials tried desperately to contact her, but were never able to do so.

After half an hour of circling, the airport picked up Cascio’s last words.

“Is there no way out of this?” she said. It was a statement that chilled all those who heard it.

Then, Cascio apparently decided to fly to another island. In bewilderment, the entire airport staff watched as she banked sharply to the left and flew out across the sea. Her Cessna flew into a low-lying cloudbank and was never seen again, according to a Web site.

An extensive search turned up no sign of airplane wreckage. There was no sign of either Cascio or her passenger, dead or alive. No one on any island, over or near which she passed, reported seeing a return trip of her airplane. Cascio, her passenger and the Cessna had vanished into the Bermuda Triangle.

Since that day, some paranormal researchers believe that Cascio flew through a rip in space and time. She had apparently arrived over Grand Turk Island at some point in the distant past, long before the island become inhabited by humans. But the rip in space and time somehow allowed people in Grand Turk Island to see her plane circle overheard for about 30 minutes.

When she flew into the cloudbank, Cascio’s plane was not able to return to the present day and therefore ended up at some time in the distant past. Under this theory, it would still be possible to find the remains of her plane and the bodies of Cascio and her passenger. However, they would all be quite old and decayed because they had taken a strange journey back into time. Their plane would look like it had disappeared hundreds of years ago instead of 46 years ago.

But to this day, the wreckage of Cascio’s plane has still not been found, either on land or in the ocean.

Paranormal researchers believe that the strange space-time rips are responsible for many of the unexplained vanishings that have occurred in the Bermuda Triangle. Whether it was caused by aliens or the lost continent of Atlantis, there is definitely something weird going on in that section of the Atlantic Ocean.

I think reading these stories is real fun. But that last story that matter of factly talks about the Bermuda Triangle and Atlantis is reall lolz worthy.

The day my grandfather had passed away, I was eight. From what I hear, this kind of thing is actually fairly common. That night I was sleeping in my bed, and I heard the sound of my door hinges opening so I woke up. The door was still closed, but at the foot of my bed was a shimmery pale version of my grandfather, that looked at me, smiled, and then seemed to dissipate in the air, kind of like a gas. Freaked the fuck out, I went up to my parents room.

One of the only creepy/supernatural things that has happened to me was almost the exact same thing.

My grandfather had passed away when I was around 15. It wasn't the night he died, but within that week. I was a sleep and in what seemed like the most vivid dream my grandfather was standing over my bed looking at me. I was so unnerved that I didn't fall back a sleep for some time after that.

I never in my life had a dream (if it was a dream) that felt and seemed so real.

My father died 4 years ago and I still occasionally have incredibly vivid dreams where he's there, interacting with the family and I know he's supposed to be dead and even though I'm happy to see him, I ask him how its possible that he's there. He always avoids the subject and starts doing something else, but I can interact with him in many different ways.

That actually reminds me of something else that might fit into this thread, or actually might even be an entirely different thread in itself... are any of you lucid dreamers?

What I mean by that, if you dont know is.... For as long as I can remember, at certain times, I can recognize that I'm dreaming, while dreaming and then stop, take in my surroundings and manipulate the dream as I see fit. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, its awesome. I can create things at will, fly (which I seem to do often) or change aspects of the dream that I don't like. The big problem I seem to have is a constant fight to not wake up since I've activated a part of my brain that should be functioning while awake.

I don't know percise at what age this happend, but it was in my teen years (14-19). So I woke up early, I can't remember why I woke up early but it was most likely so i could learn for my exam that I had that day (last push). I learn better early in the morning when I wake up. It was still dark so it was I think it happend in autumn/winter (Nov/dec)

Everyone in the house was sleeping. I brushed my teeth quitely and in the dark so not to wake up anyone. Went down the stairs, quitely. I opened the door to the living and entered without first turning the lights on. In our house when you enter you look at the kitchen (+ eating table) and behind you is the living room.

So I enter the room looking at the kitchen (wanted to make breakfast) while I move my right hand behind me to turn the lights on (remember the living room is behind me, i can't see it). Without looking my right hand seems to miss the light switchs so I turn in frustration to turn on the lights.

Well....then I saw the "man" with the red-eyes sitting in the living room there looking at me. Usually i scream (I am male, but I can scream like a girl) when i get scared. But I didn't, I froze....I F#$% FROZE in fear. All my live I was never as scared as i was then. The thing that I looked at was its eyes I could see the rest, it was dark I had not turned on the lights. But I saw a silhouette and it looked like a man, expect its glowing red eyes.

All the time it did not speak it only looked at me. I don't know how long I stood there, but my fight-or-flight instinct kicked in. So I ran, I ran back (still no screaming) to the stairs and closed the behind me and hold the door closed with my own weight. After a couple of secs (maybe 1 min) of nothing happing (no sound, only my breathing) my flight instinct turned in too the fight instinct. I got angry I got really angry (yes i know this sounds stupid, but i got pissed). I thought I'll down fighting. Also note that i could have called for help waking up everyone at home, but that never crossed my minded.

So after a min of getting being pissed off, I opened the door ran in switched on the lights while I was running put up my fists and stopped. It was gone. To make sure i ran in to kitchen with my "fighting stance" but it also was not there. After cooling down my fear returned. I eat my breakfast and went early to school. All the while telling myself that this never happend. But it did, and I know that that thing was real and not my imagination.

To this day when I enter the living room I first turn on the lights.

But I also ask myself what would have happend if i spoke to it instead of running.
I don't know if you've ever heard of em, but this sounds like a shadow person encounter to me.

Those who are experiencing and studying the shadow people phenomenon say that these entities almost always used to be seen out of the corner of the eye and very briefly. But more and more, people are beginning to see them straight on and for longer periods of time. Some experiencers testify that they have even seen eyes, usually red, on these shadow beings.
http://paranormal.about.com/od/trueghoststories/a/shadow-people.htm

I honestly wouldn't know how I'd react if I ever saw one. Also, I love reading people's stories in this thread. I find this topic crazy fascinating.

I found my post from another forum a while ago so here it is. I found out from my firend that the thing I was using was a stupid app called "Ghost Radar" yet the shit we got is far more than just coincidental so who knows. We always just took it as entertainment until it got pretty damn accurate...lol

Keep in mind that I started as the biggest skeptic around along with my family and we all changed at some point or another due to these experiences. Some of the weirdest stories are:

-When I was in bed when I was 12 or so, I got that extremely weird feeling that someone is watching you and I originally thought it was my mom trying to scare me, but then I felt something right behind me as I lay facing the opposite direction. Then I start hearing the loudest and weirdest breathing I've ever heard in my life right behind me and it went on constantly for at least an hour as I hid under my covers still feeling that presence right behind me. It finally stopped and everything went back to normal except my sleeping patterns...

-Once again when I was around 12 or 13, I was playing a game upstairs when that creepy feeling came right back and it was so heavy out in the hallway that I didn't want to even leave the room I was in. Then I start hearing a constant knocking noise on the wall that started slow and then suddenly picked up and got louder and faster until I finally had to burst out the room and book it out of there. Every once in a while I'd think I heard my mom screaming my name from downstairs and run down there and ask her what she wants and she'd look at me and say she didn't call me. This was more weird than creepy so I never really said it was a ghost until...

-A few years later, my mom is upstairs putting away laundry and she starts to walk down the stairs and hears someone whisper "Good job" right in her ear that made her turn pale. She'd also hear the computer chair move back and forth and bangs on the desk so she'd think I was on the computer, but then she checks and there's no one in there. She's also heard talking quite a few times and these things started to make her question whether or not ghosts exist but didn't convince her yet.

-We've all seen shadows, but my mom actually saw a little girl standing at her door and then the girl ran down the hallway and that's something my mom kept to herself until I was playing with this device from a friend of mine that gave me a name of a girl and an age and I casually mention it to my mom thinking nothing of it and then she tells me of what she saw so I ask her what age she thought the girl was and she said 7 or 8 which is exactly what I got on that device...Eight. My dad was the biggest skeptic since nothing ever happened to him but he woke up and saw a weird glowing light walk into his room, stand at the foot of the bed and then walk out as my dad acted like he was asleep.

-As far as my random noises, I would hear a loud bang on my computer desk in the other room at the exact same time every single night until I started staying in that room later where it then was a loud bang behind me on the TV that's never on. I also hear a knock on my door every night when I go to bed and it's usually pretty faint, but I've also heard taps on my dresser, shelf, sounds of rustling in my closet, etc. I also hear a loud bang right above me in the attic every time I just walk into the bathroom but it's not tied to any pipe or anything so my mom couldn't help figure that out. I also hear a lot of conversations going on downstairs when I'm upstairs and hear bangs and walking downstairs and I always end up thinking someone came home early. We all also hear walking and then bangs upstairs when we're all in the family room and it literally sounds like walking and even sounds like they're coming downstairs sometimes.

-Back to that device, we actually got my uncle's name, Jim, called out on there as soon as my mom called my aunt who was his wife who my mom didn't call her that often before and it was literally as soon as they started talking. This was the aunt my mom was told to talk to and help out after my grandma died who was her twin. We chalked it up as another weird experience with the thing, but then we went to that aunt's house for Christmas and I brought it out and said nothing to my aunt but everyone else know. The first thing we got was "James" which was his actual name (he went by Jim though) and then it said "bright, smile" which was kind of comforting in a way. We've had A LOT of weird things from that thing including weird words said together like, "neck, hang, blood" or "doctor, illness, sick". The last one came up many times with different words meaning the same thing, but the weirdest is when I left it on and went upstairs and it decided to talk trash about me. It said "Military. Attempt. Fail" which is funny since I got sick and had surgery and then had a lot of complications which caused me to get discharge from the Air Force and then my health problems got a lot worse with a lot more individual problems once I got home. But that was extremely weird to have those words come together. My friend even had it say "May. Join. Navy" when he was with his family which is actually when he enlisted in the Navy finally. We've had a lot of weird things match up to conversations and events which is funny since we all thought it was a joke program. Either it's legit or there are enough coincidences to convince me to go to Vegas and beat the odds again, lol.

-After I tried to talk to "it", a lot of the really creepy things stopped. Many things I can't remember anymore thanks to all these painkillers and medications which make me forgetful. The latest thing that keeps happening is to my mom where she feels her hair get pulled in the shower quite often. It's hard enough to where it really hurts so it can't be water pouring off of her hair or anything. She keeps trying to figure it out, but I'd use a different bathroom if I were her. There's still a lot of sounds but it doesn't seem quite as menacing to me. The only thing that still scares me to the point of making me break my constipation record is the shadows I see at times. Those things still give me the creeps but they don't happen too often luckily.

There's many, many more that I can't think of right now that has happened to each and every one of us in the house. Some stories could be explained logically but a lot of our experiences can't possibly be explained to us. I was the first to change from skeptic to open to the paranormal whether it's ghosts or not. Then my mom followed and my dad finally came around recently after we finally shared all of our stories and now he's not afraid of telling people that our house is haunted while my mom and I still don't mention it. I thought I got away from this place when I joined the Air Force but that backfired...lol. It's kind of cool that the Ghost Hunters casting director called me for an interview though. They were looking for people for their new show so he asked me a bunch of questions and all was going well until we finally came to the health section where he realized I was a liability basically so the long interview abruptly ended right after that question unfortunately.

Sorry for the novel but each paragraph is a different story or subject.

they didn't interview the rest of your family for the show?

Sorry, I should clarify. It was a casting director calling me to become part of the show as an investigator, not a house to visit. It was for the new show they were doing where people were being trained and the winner got to be part of the crew. So that's why my medical problems limited me.

It's a shame because after watching the show, I realized it could've been an easy win given how stupid most of the people were. All it took was common sense and the ability to listen and learn and just do what you saw them do on TV...lol

This happens to me too after losing both of my parents in the last few years. It is the oddest dreams to have because of just how real it is. I can give my mother a hug and feel the texture of the fabric of her jacket. I can smell her perfume. My dad will give me a big pat on the back and kind of rub my shoulders like he always did. They both passed way too young imo, and they are healthy and vibrant in my dreams. It's like they come to visit, because we have real conversation it seems, and yes I remind them over and over that they are dead and this is not possible. Just like you were saying, they kind of brush off the notion that they have passed away.

I love having these though, it feels like my parents come to visit me. Also, other deceased relatives may show up in these dreams as well, but it's only the ones that died young, before they should have. I could go on and on about those dreams because they are so vivid and special to me. I look forward to them, but they are rare.

Here is something I can not solve and it may have a reasonable explaination but I can not figure it out.

A few months ago I went to get a t-shirt from my dresser. All the shirts in the drawer were wet. Everything in the drawer above and below was dry. All the shirts were stacked and folded neatly. The shirts in the middle of the stack were just as wet and the ones on the top and bottom. No water on the floor or wall behind dresser. My wife swears that she put the clothes away dry the day before.

How could that happen?

Someone gave out all your shirts at a wet t-shirt contest? It's better to think of something stupid than something creepy. :D

That's pretty damn weird though.

O hell yeah this is likely my all time favorite thread while I have been a member. Scanning for stuff I haven't seen before.

It's only natural that I watch a scary movie tonight and then the loud bangs start afterwards...lol

I still swear that it doesn't annoy me as much in my room at night after I got annoyed and tried to reason with it which took me a long time to do since my official stance was I didn't believe it existed. But all those individual noises in my room stopped afterwards except once in a blue moon.

so anyone got recommendations for scary movies? don't say Saw or any zombie movies...those aren't real horror. i mean like paranormal activity and [REC].

Have you seen 'The Thing'? Has a pretty chilling paranoid atmosphere.

Fuck me, was just going through this thread and all of a sudden my TV volume playing in the background turned way up enough to be heard over my headphones. I scrambled to find the remote on the bed, and it was on the side not in contact with anything. Scared the crap out of me

Check out The Changeling (1980) for a pretty good haunted house movie.

I don't think this personal episode has anything to do with the supernatural or paranormal but it sure creeps me out.

I sleepwalk quite frequently, 'waking up' in the middle of the night, start walking towards the kitchen or living room, actually waking up, realising what I'm doing and then returning back to the bedroom to sleep. Since I live alone I never had a third party's account of what I really do before I actually wake up while walking but a couple months back my brother was staying with me for a couple days and as he's a late night sleeper he was still awake when I went to sleep.

I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night and felt compelled to walk to the enormous glass door overlooking the terrace. If you asked me right there and then I'd swear I was awake, but that's obviously not the case. That's as far as I remember before actually waking up and returning to the bedroom, confused and puzzled why I felt the necessity to go to that door.

The following morning my brother is having breakfast with me and keeps staring with a strange look on his face. I ask what's wrong and he tells me that as he was getting ready to go to sleep the night before, he sees me getting out of the bedroom and heading towards the glass door. I tell him I remember doing that but I soon woke up and realised I was sleepwalking and then returned to sleep. But he then says he followed me and stood next to me while I stared upwards to the left, towards an empty patch in between buildings. After a while he asked me what I was looking at and I said, "When did they build that house?" He looked where I was staring and there was nothing there obviously. I proceeded with "It must have been recently because I don't remember that house being there." My brother realised I was sleepwalking and asked me what exactly was I seeing. I answered "It's a large house with a window. There's someone looking at us through that window," paused and then said "...but they're not like us." I then woke up and returned to bed without even acknowledging my brother was standing there.

I remember nothing of that episode after I got to the door. If my brother weren't there I'd never have known how long I stood there and what I thought I was seeing.

What really bothers me though is that when I asked my brother to point at the exact place I was looking at, he pointed towards the very same spot my cat stares at in the evenings when I have dinner outside. I've always assumed that some small lizard nests in the wall somewhere up there but now I can't keep thinking there might be a strange connection between the two things.

I was reading the Wiki article about the Grinning Man once, at night. Right as my eyes reach the part where the GM says his name, "Indrid Cold", my cat suddenly gets a spaz attack and flips out loudly all over the house.

Scared the living shit out of me.

For one reason that story reminds me of hp lovecraft

Do you guys ever get a weird feeling in the middle of the night and then you wake up and see your pet acting like it hears something on the other side of the wall outside?

My cat will just stand up on his hind legs and follow something on the other side of the wall.

I have to ask this. Does anyone find my incidents above a little weird or am I crazy. I keep going back and forth thinking I'm reading too much into but then I remember my whole family's had incidents and most of them happened when I was a little younger and not on painkillers so I can't use that as an excuse...lol

I also need to stop this fucking deja vu. It's happening a few times a week now with vivid detail. It's the weirdest little things that sets it off too when you realize you've pictured it before.

I often notice my cat stalking seemingly non-existent things, but then it turns out he's actually following an ant or small spider to its secret hideout.

My uncle said he hears stuff in the night and when he gets angry it stops...I don't know dude some weird shit happens to people, I won't lie.

Definitely very creepy and the fact that you remembered those incidents means something strange is going on there.

You don't understand, maybe something's there, but you can't perceive it, but your cat can...

Yeah, I understood and it is really weird.

I remember some stories I heard about how people think young kids can perceive many things that older people can not. Cats are definitely astute in their own way as well.

The one thing that I'll never forget is the breathing going on right behind me for over an hour and the room felt very heavy and felt like someone was right behind you and watch your every move. That will always stay with me I imagine...lol

I just find it weird when it matches with shit my family's experienced, but I keep saying we're all just sleep deprived or something because it's easier to think you're crazy than to think it was paranormal and that something is haunting you... :D

Thanks for reassuring me.

I've heard abounding stories from many members of my family about strange occurrences where they saw unknown children playing on top of the stairs, conversed with long-dead women praying in front of statues in churches, and even witnessed a wooden carriage with horses, all on fire, running amok the village and then disappearing into thin air as if nothing happened.

Some of those stories have to be just that, stories told from one member of the family to the other, growing and morphing into grand tales of mystery. But other episodes seem very genuine, which leads me to believe we don't really know what's out there.

If others have experienced the same incidents you did, that's confirmation it's not all in your head.

If something's there, accept it and eventually you won't even notice it anymore. Well, you'll notice it, but it just won't freak you out anymore. It's not like it's going to materialize and take a bite out of you. They did that shit in Paranormal Activity for dramatic effect.

Yea, I've come to grips and it doesn't spook me out and doesn't do anything in my room at night anymore since I tried to reason. The main thing that bugged me was accepting that it could be real and not just a bunch of coincidences.

My family still cracks up when we talk about the "Military. Attempt. Fail" incident since it was like the damn thing was talking trash about me as soon as I left...Gossip continues in the afterlife I guess!

- Back when I was in high school, the local media caught wind of a haunted house in our downtown area. It became pretty popular among my generation to go there and get freaked out. I went there a total of 3 times, the first 2 times were major disappointments as I would never see anything but the third and last time, we drove there about 5 of us but everybody was too freaked out, so I just went there with another friend. As I was about to go inside I noticed a cockroach (which are more freaky to me than ghosts. Mostly I just hate them with a passion). I was the first to go inside and as I entered what would be the living room I saw a woman, right there about 2-3 meters away from me. I didnt freeze or freak out. I was fascinated. She dissipated in about 10-15 seconds. When my friend got to me she was gone.

- When I stayed at my aunt's in Houston Texas, I saw a man from what I would describe as the "colony" times. He looked zombie like and there was this huge glow around him. It all happened when their clock (one of those big, antique clocks) loudly announced it was 12AM.

- Another time when I stayed at another aunt's house in Mexico, I woke up and saw a "charro" and "adelita" (people dressed in mexico's traditional attires).

- I suffer from sleep paralysis from time to time. Once I woke up from it and saw one big dark cloud hanging over me. My two cats (who sleep in my bed) were directly looking at it.

- Another sleep paralysis experience. I woke up and there were about 13 shadows all hanging around my bedroom and they, one by one, started entering my body. It felt like a big knife being stuck inside of me, each time.

- Recently, I was in my room when my towel just lifted itself up. There was no wind coming from the window as it was closed. It didnt scare me, it was just odd.

Im afraid you're gonna be bored pretty soon as, outside these events and the occasional sleep paralysis, my life is paranormal-free =P

Also, my grea great aunt (I never met her) was a super famous psychic in our country. Politicians from all over the nation would go see her for advice on the future. She never charged a penny either, said it was a gift and those kind of gifts are not to for monetary gains.

One time, one of her sons was getting ready to go to his job at a local factory when she told him he shouldnt go today. He brushed her off at first but she begged and cried so finally he stayed. That factory exploded that day.

Can somebody explain what's creepy about The Grinning Man wikipedia page? It's just a entry for an episode of some British tv show.
Huh, that's odd. I can't find it anymore, either. The references to "Indrid Cold" have been removed from the Mothman article, too.

Guys, they're on to us. We're next.
