Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

This was probably mentioned in here already but if you haven't yet, you have GOT TO WATCH the documentary Cropsey. It's on Netflix Instant, and I think Hulu as well.

Absolutely chilling.

I know that Shadow of the Colossus is a great game and I love it too, but you really need to play other games.

When I was about 21, I was in bed and ready to knock out. Lights off, comfortable, at peace... not moving or anything.

Out of nowhere I clearly felt a single flick or tap on my foot.

Like if you were to tap your fingers on a desk, repeatedly... look at your index finger and imagine something with that kind of force (again, not powerful but obvious) tapping you on your foot when you are at your most peaceful and undisturbed.

It just felt as if something touched my foot. I hadn't moved either of my feet, and my bed had no foot rail. I instantly retracted my legs and sat up, creeped the fuck out.

Something touched me you. Believe.

I talked myself into believing I was tripping, but deep down inside, I know better.

Would've been a reflex to bolt outta bed for the nearest light switch lol, especially if I was by myself.

I'll share a real life experience, not quite as creepy as most on here but hey-hoh.

There's an abandoned, boardered up house out in the middle of nowhere that i've drove past a few times. Me and two friends thought it would be cool to go check it out one night armed with a flash light. As we drove up to the house in the dead of night we all got a really eerie feeling, mainly due to the house looking sketchy as hell. So after looking around for a place to get in without breaking anything, we found a lose wooden panel that was covering a hole in a wall that led into the back of the house.

We did rock, paper scissors to determine who would go in first and luckily I was on the winning end. So we all climbed in one after the other and found ourselves in a downstairs bathroom. Upon exploring around downstairs we noticed most of the rooms had been burnt and there were a load of scrathes on the walls in each room that resembled human fingernails.

The upstairs of the house was completely boarded and we decided best to stick to downstairs as some of the floors could be unstable also it was completely pitch black apart from the single flash light we had between us which was far from reassuring, especially for my friend at the back. So we continued on down a narrow hallway which led to a couple of back rooms. In the hallway was some sort of family photo which at a guess was taken around 1920s, the picture being black and white and all.. studying the photo there were around 10 people, we all commented on how moody they looked.

As we entered the back room we found some sort of really old washing machine, or what resembled one and behind it my friend found a childs stuffed doll. We joked how cliche it was but also quite odd as the doll appeared to be fairly new and in pristine condition where's everything else was in the worse state, and this is where it started to get wierd.

All of a sudden there was a huge thud at the back of the house, we all completely crapped our pants and ran into the next room which led onto the rest of the house. We were getting hysterical and I made everyone shut up to see if we could hear anything. The sound of footsteps in the house could clearly be heard by all of us so we immediatly turned the flash light of and crouched into a corner of the room in complete fear, it was almost pitch black.

After 10 seconds the footsteps stopped but we laid low for a further 30 secs in silence and darkness to see if they would start again. After nothing we put the flash light back on and moved back into the room with the doll, straight away my friend said the doll wasn't in the place he left it. We saw him put it back on the floor but it was now sitting on top of the washing machine type thing in a limp position. We all agreed enough was enough and it was time to gtfo so headed for the bathroom, that being the only way out. When walking down the hallway the light from the flashlight hit the painting we saw that it had been burnt, especially around the facial areas of the people in it and most of them were now faceless, the picture was in a fine condition when we saw it a mere 5 minutes ago and the burn marks did not look recent.

After seeing this we ran to the bathroom muttering "oh shit, oh shit, oh shit" but when we got there the wooden board had been back in place. At this point my friend thought me and my other friend were playing a prank on him, I assured him it wasn't and started frantically kicking at the board in an attempt to break it free. All of a sudden two loud thuds were heard at the other end of the house similar to the one we heard earlier, about 10 seconds after the taps in the bathroom shot on. My friend slammed the bathroom door shut and screamed "get me the fuck outta here!"

Scared as hell, me and my friend started to kick at the board in a synchronised fashion whilst the other held the door shut. Luckily we broke it down after 3or4 kicks so we all shot out and ran to the car as fast as we could. Ofcourse, my friend stalled a couple of times in sheer panic and we were all yelling at him, lol. We drove to the nearest public place which was 10mins away and it happened to be a pub. We went in and just sat there still terrified, trying to rationalise the whole situation. Was scary stuff man :(

Holy shit. That would scare the shit out of me. I'm sitting here and I'm already scared.

I watched this after your recommendation and I was PISSED by the end of it. They need to waterboard that old fucking guy until he has something to say.

I was speaking with my mom earlier today when she mentioned a "paranormal" event she experienced decades ago in her older house. When my mom and dad first got married, they lived in a very small, one-bedroom house out in the country. A few weeks after moving in, my mom woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of footsteps outside the bedroom window. The footsteps sounded like cowboy boots, complete with the jingle of spurs with every step.

The footsteps were right outside the bedroom wall, which was located on the side of the house. The footsteps slowly made their way around the house to the front porch, which was made from wood, of course, which made the heavy, slow footfalls sound like a cowboy walking into a saloon in the Old West. The steps finally made their way to the front door, where my mom swears that she heard the door handle rattle as if someone was trying to open the locked door.

After the rattling stopped, the footsteps walked back off the porch and along the bedroom wall again. They made their way around the corner to the back door, where again the door handle started to shake. After it stopped, my mom didn't hear any more footsteps for the rest of the night.

The event can most likely be attributed to sleep paralysis, as my mom claimed to be unable to move or scream. Still, when she told me about it I couldn't help but get a few chills. It happened about three times total, but that was enough to sufficiently scare my mom. She also says that portraits will sometimes fall off the walls by themselves. My mom isn't a superstitious person, and doesn't really think it was a paranormal event, but she still found it a very strange experience.

Is this Blair Witch Projectish at all? I'm talking about the first one.

No- this is a real documentary by a group of filmmakers who set out to draw connections between a Staten Island, NY child-kidnapping urban legand called 'Cropsey' and a set of strange events that have taken place at Willowbrook Mental Institution.

If you have Netflix streaming just search for it and watch it.

That sounds like an interesting watch, I never even heard of it. Shame we don't have netflix over here...

Does anyone have names of some documentaries about paranormal/unsolved stuff? I really want to watch some, but google is kind of annoying to look for this stuff. I'm not interested in murder cases though.

I actually watched the video documentary for a psychology class I took. One of the worst things from that movie was that all those researchers pushed her into a lifestyle that constantly had the media at her door. It soon became about how much exposure could the scientists and caretakers get from trying to make a scientific "milestone" by building her language skills. Once the funding was gone, the scientists, caretakers, and the media left her alone, I think her mother was fighting for custody of her at one point.

Could you reiterate what is creepy to you about the Montauk Project etc? After briefly reading the thing on wiki it doesn't seem as creepy as the remote viewing research by the government or the Collins Elite...

Sorry, didn't notice that it was such a little description.
According to some people the Montauk project entails having a giant underground lab where alien technology is tested. Also, some people report that the alien tech is a gift from aliens and involves jumping through alternate dimensions with the use of some kind chair. In one instance of testing, some kind of alternate dimension monster jumped into our world, killed a bunch of scientists and had to be killed. I don't necessarily believe it, but just going to the area makes it exciting because it reinforces some of my curiosity in terms of how strange the place is.

I'm not sure what happened with that, but I remember the Montauk monster from a couple of years ago happened to be a corpse of an animal.

Yeah I remember that being debunked, but the strange human report just seemed to fade away...which you would think more people would focus on since it was a human with strange features.

You don't understand, maybe something's there, but you can't perceive it, but your cat can...

I know you're implying something supernatural here, but really cats and dogs are constantly smelling and hearing things we aren't because their sense of smelling and hearing are much better than a human.

Yea, not sure what to make of it towards the end. There are merits in both arguments but man, it was an amazing documentary. I love urban legends/modern folkore like that. Such a creepy documentary I ended up having to watch during the day...

Watched this last night. The movie wasn't chilling, hell it was barely interesting.

This is probably having more to do with an electrical problem or something having to do with wireless in our home, but just a second ago my Sonos (audio throughout the house) just start blasting music out of no where. We have this little portable device where you can select what music you want and where you want it in the house and it started playing in the kitchen all the sudden. The weird part was that I couldn't turn the music off. The portable device would not turn on for some reason and the computer that has the sonos software on it (that also controls the speakers) was off.

I turned on the computer and turned off the music, and then the portable device turned on and went into Napster and started typing gibberish in the login screen. I turned it off and then sat back down to type this, and it turned back on when I first started typing.

I'm sure it's nothing but it was really creepy and I was just about to head to bed but now I'm really spooked. I'll probably sleep with the light on...

Anyone else have this sort of problem? I'm sure it has something to do with the device, but it's still creepy.

Cropsey is alright. Only reason why though the stuff I hear about it is worse. Some of my buddies went into the haunted seaview they say it was fucking creppy. Doesn't help with happened there. Sucks though the one time I was going to go in cops were watching the are. Then again the whole area is watched a lot because a year ago some kid died or some shit while sneaking in.
