Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

For the last several years this woman has dealt with her son's terrible night terrors (as I understand it "night terrors" are when you scream "AH! COBRAS" in your sleep). It got very bad a few summers ago and was really damaging to the sanity of their entire household. Every night she would have to calm him down and rub his back (he would sleep through all of this).

One night he was whimpering instead of screaming, which wasn't normal. She stopped in the hallway to listen and as she got closer to the room he started shrieking. Blood curtling, horrible screaming. She ran in to comfort him and took him into her arms. He immediately started shaking his head back and forth in an exagerrated "NO" motion. This wasn't normal so she pulled back and looked at his face. He was wide awake. She asked if he was ok and he said:

"No Mum no. You don't get it"

She replied "What do you mean? What don't I get?"

Her son looked at his mother with a completely flat expression and told her:

"You don't understand Mum. You don't get it. Listen to me: he's still here."
This raised every hair on my body.

I posted this years back in another thread:
I don't know how to classify my experience really, rather than just cool. My childhood friend and I were always interested in supernatural stuff. We talked about it all the time and even tried ouiji boards and whatnot. (No luck with the board ) But one night we were up in his room just talking about dumb shit like we always did when we noticed a weird light. I saw it outside his 2nd story window and I called his attention to it. It was this tiny ball of light. Almost like a firefly that was stuck in the on position. What made this really weird is even though the window was closed, this ball of light came into the room and was moving around. After a minute or two it disappeared into the wall. This is something we both saw, neither of us were drunk or on drugs and we verified each others sighting.

Not so much anymore, but I used to jump when I was just slipping into sleep all the time. I felt Like i was falling for some reason. Also, I went through about a month long period where when falling asleep my mind would be awake but I couldn't move my body at all. I remember it TOTALLY freaking me out.

Wow, just realized I had more stories than I though, rofl. Ok, here's 2 more. First story:

This one is pretty short. When I was younger (like 5-7) my father used to take me fishing with him all the time. This one time we were at a lake, I was sitting leaning back against a tree and my father was lure fishing. I don't remember really talking but my father yelled to me asking who I was talking to. The moment he did this i felt a great weight leave my lap (which is strange cause I hadn't noticed it.) Why a ghost or entity or whatever would be sitting in my lap eludes me, but I found this strange.

This second story has much the same atmosphere. My father had taken me and my brother fishing at a reservoir about 30 minutes from our home. A few minutes after setting up, two men arrive. They're wearing really old clothing, I seem to recall thinking them wearing old military outfits. Really, really old clothing. Eventually I shrugged it off as if they just came from an re-enactment or something. So my father went a ways off in search of a better place to cast his lure while my brother and I stayed with our rods. Eventually I had a fish on the line and for some reason my brother (4 years older and much stronger at the time) thought he should be the one to reel it in. We had a fight and I ended up in the water. Now mind you that I was about 5 years old, had no clue how to swim, and the water was over 20 feet deep. It was a long fall into the water, we were set up on a ledge. I seem to remember it being a HUGE distance but it was probably only 15 feet or so. My brother freaked out and went to search for my father to help me. At this time I was just splashing about in the water, I stayed about 2-3 feet from the surface so I couldn't breath and I remember seeing those two guys again(the ones dressed in really old clothing) They yell down to me that everything will be alright and to keep moving towards the light. Which is of course all you can really see when you're underwater looking up. Weird thing is, if someone's above water and you're underwater you can't make out any words someone is saying, but I heard these guys perfectly. Anyways, moments later my father dives in and saves my life (gotta remember to get him a card or something) and I'm on shore drying off. My brother got yelled at really good for pushing me into the water which made me happy cause we were bitter enemies until we got into our teens. We immediately left for home and upon arrival my mother heard what happened and freaked out. Upon explaining my story I mentioned those 2 strangely dressed guys and neither my father nor my brother remember seeing them.

UPDATE: Lately I've been noticing when I just wake up that sometimes I hallucinate. For example, a few weeks back I opened my eyes, saw a giant fucking spider on the wall and then just closed my eyes again. A second later I realized that there shouldn't be a giant spider on my wall and when I re-opened them there was nothing. I posted something in a dream thread a while back, I'll do some research to find it. Was humorous.

Found it:

I was laying in bed in a room all alone in the dark. I snap awake all of the sudden because I suddenly felt like there was someone in the room. I try to sit up and look around and find that I'm totally paralyzed. I wasn't familiar with SP so I was really freaked out. I was unable to move any limbs at all but somehow I was able to slightly roll back and forth. Eventually I could roll more and more and then my body finally woke up.

My night terror experience is funny looking back on it, scary as hell at the time though. I was sleeping at home, my girlfriend in bed with me. I wake up on my back facing her side of the bed. Looking over both of us were 3 aliens. I immediately started yelling and ran the fuck out of the room. Once I got to the hallway I realized I left my girlfriend in the room with aliens and ran back in to defend her against anal probing! Upon re-entering the room I saw no aliens and just a very confused girlfriend. She was very understanding about it at least. I probably freaked her the fuck out. All I know is that I went back into the room with evil aliens to protect her, I must of loved her! =p

Is sleep paralysis just exactly what it sounds like (becoming paralyzed when waking up from deep sleep) or does it always accompany unexplained visions of figures? Because all these sleep paralysis stories have some similar occurence and I want to know whether this is both a physical and a mental disorder.
Sometimes it's just waking up paralyzed (for a brief moment), and sometimes it comes acompained by visions/scary shit. It's not a disorder, it's a bodily function. The visions are part of the hypnagogic state. I've noticed two main things triggering hypnagogic sleep paralysis; sleeping on my back and my body being very very tired (like after a super hard work out).
I had a recent episode. and it was the coolest shit ever, I'll share:
I wake up lying on my back and moonlight is entering through the window and illuminating most of the bed, including my face. I notice my body starting to tremble and I start to make this low growl like an angered beast, noticed my fingers are growing into claws and my body is turning into a werewolf-like monster. Best thing is, I was ectasic, it felt really fucking good, growling at the top of my lungs and moving uncontrollably on the bed, feeling like I was transforming into something powerful. I waked up after a moment of course, but it felt 100% real (these episodes lack any dream like qualities, my mind is 100% awake, everything is first person and I can recall every detail). The only thing still there was the moonlight (full moon), which I think contributed a lot to the hallucination.

I've only done that once. When I was like 10 my family went on vacation to Florida. One night in the motel I woke up and there was a dog skeleton walking and jumping on and off the beds. Freaked me out.

I was cutting and pasting a story from Reddit-it wasn't me.

Edit:
Oh god new page. I haven't really had anything creepy happen to me except this:

When I was 10 I had a vivid dream about playing tennis with my cousin (who was 18 at the time). It was odd since we weren't particularly close and I hadn't seen him in years. The dream was very vivid, and throughout the tennis match he kept yelling my name. His voice got louder and louder to the point that I started and woke up fully alert. It was around 3am so I went downstairs to get a glass of water.

My mother was at the kitchen table, crying. She had just received word that my cousin and two of his friends had been killed in a car accident a few hours prior.

I'm sure I must have heard her one the phone, but the house wasn't exactly condusive to sound traveling like that.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Another story that has always creeped me out is one that my wife's colleague told me. For the last several years this woman has dealt with her son's terrible night terrors (as I understand it "night terrors" are when you scream "AH! COBRAS" in your sleep). It got very bad a few summers ago and was really damaging to the sanity of their entire household. Every night she would have to calm him down and rub his back (he would sleep through all of this).

that last night Terror one , sounds like stuff I read about in the UFO Alien Abduction books etc

OK got a few strange ones:

in 1997 I was visiting my friend who had decided to live in the US for a year, he was staying in stockton.. part of the trip was a Mini tour of the west coast driving up an down and staying in KoA places, he only had a station wagon car so sometimes one of us got to sleep outside, it was my turn and it was the Arizona KoA. I am in my sleeping bag late one night not wanting to go to sleep. reading a book suddenly I think to myself "he's here" I put down the book and blackout.. next moment I wake up and it;s day time. I usually take an age to get to sleep.

On the same trip I must have been hallucinating or something as we were staying at another KoA in I Believe it was Oregeon. but it was dark I cant remember if it was early morning or late evening. but I say a few camping spaces away a humanoid figure standing over the camping spot it looked upwards and lept over a wall.

Another time at a later was staying at my Dad's place when in the Middle of the night wanted to get a drink of water so went to the kitchen was going to the Tap and noticed outside the Window, as if someone covering their face & ducking down at the window sill..freaked me out

nothing too exciting

My experience with spirits (take it as you will). Sorry for the length.

Before moving in with my sister, she already told me stories of the ghost she had. She said she would hear it breathing in the corner of the room, doors would open, lights turn on/off etc. My elder brother was staying with her for a while and things got worse. The ghost would breathe into his ear, locked him out and even grab his leg. When he eventually parted ways with my sister, that night she said she heard it run around the house, run into her room and it jumped onto her bed and started breathing again in the corner.

The ghost was dormant after my sister came back from holidays and she never heard from him in a long while. It wasn't until 3 weeks after I moved in, that she started to hear him breathe again and walk past her door sighing. But, it wasn't until a week later when the ghost gave me a formal introduction...

I was heading to bed around 11:30pm, half an hour after my sister, and as soon as I entered my room, I just felt this uneasy presence. My cat zips straight into my room, onto my bedside drawers and sits still upright completely focused on the blinds. I turn the lights off I try to go to sleep. The blinds then started violently slamming against the window at a very consistent and unnatural pace, that a simple light breeze does not do. It stops. I try to sleep; it goes again, and again. I get up and close the window, and notice my cat is still fixated at the blinds. I fall asleep.

I wake up from an unrelated dream at 4:05am (the hour in which the ghost is the most active). Suddenly, a light goes on from my sister's room. It stays on for about 3 minutes then turns off again. At around 4:15, my sister wakes up, turns her light on and goes to the loungeroom, because she heard the blinds for the balcony banging, but the door was closed. And I never heard the loud banging.

She gets back to her room turns her light off and gets into bed. The ghost starts to breathe heavily towards her. She can hear it, and I could hear it coming from her room too.

At around 4:35, I could still hear the breathing, but the breathing changed, the "hee hoo" kind of breathing slowly turned into an ambient laugh that echoed and moved around towards me. I admit now I was a bit freaked out. Then it was quiet. The cat meows and then the ghost was running around the house, the sounds of his footsteps can easily be heard, tapping the table, touching the front door's knob, etc.

In the morning, my sister and I were talking about what had unfolded. She never heard the loud banging in my room, and she was still awake when I went to bed and I never heard the loud banging she heard. She only turned the lights on once, she wasn't awake when it went on the first time.

We were talking to our upstairs neighbours about it, and they say they heard him running up the stairs and touching their front door handle at around 4:45 and raced into their bathroom, closing the door behind him.

We got an appointment with a "ghostbuster" but that was 2 weeks away. The closer to the day the ghostbuster comes, the more active the ghost was. She warned us when we make the appointment, the ghost would get upset.

During the day around midday, I was walking down the hall and I heard ruffling in the hallway cupboard, I looked in and of course nothing was in there. It wasn't until my sister came home from work when she told me she heard the ghost the night before opening that door wide open and closing it multiple times, as well as opening and closing some kitchen cupboards at the same time.

Since the ghost is attached to my sister, it has been known to be with her outside of the house. But it was the first time that it was clearly obvious he was there. She was getting a spa treatment and she was left in the room alone. The door opened and the ghost went around the table she was on, shook it a bit and then left the room...

One night I went to bed at around 1:30am and as soon as I turned the light off and went in the bed, he started to breathe heavily. It wasn't long after that, when the bathroom taps blasted on. They were on for 5 seconds, then turned off, then again, it blasts on and off again. I get up and head towards the bathroom and then it stops. I tell it to leave us alone and head back to my room. I then hear it leave the bathroom and clear it's throat. Then it casually walked around the house and then back to my door. Then the breathing started again...

The ghost has spoken to my sister once before, after she told he to go away multiple times one night and he replied with an "Okaaaay". But, it is clear he doesn't like me.

Another night, I went to bed with him breathing in the corner as per usual, but not as loud as he usually is. I fall asleep. I wake up three times during the night, all three times I have sleep paralysis; couldn't move anything, not a muscle on my face. On the third time, I wake up and mumble something like "let me go", and the ghost replies (someone spoke) with "only if you scream loud enough". Now if that wasn't enough, with the little opening in the mouth, I start screaming. Only thing is... I wasn't controlling my scream. It was done involuntarily. It wasn't that loud as I couldn't move anything. The whole time I was screaming, I was thinking 'What. The. Fuck'.

I am now relieved of the paralysis and then I move to the left side of my bed. The ghost is now breathing on the right side of my bed where I was at. I tell it to go away and let me sleep. It stopped for a while then started again. I turned around and faced the right hand side while I tried to get to sleep. It then stopped...

My sister wasn't getting harassed that week, but she was feeling extremely drained, and conks out into deep sleep.

My sister's friend, who is a hypnotherapist, came and slept over one night, on the sole purpose of meditating in my sister's room. It was around 3am when the breathing started again, so he got a chair and sat in the left hand corner of the room (where it breathes the most (it's the right corner for me over the wall)) and he started to go into deep meditation. He said could hear the sickly breathing coming from my room. He also heard him walk past the room a few times, but the ghost never entered my sister's room with him in it. He was asking if the ghost would leave etc. After a while, he felt a tingling chill go down from his head. This went on for 2 minutes, then the air was silent... In the morning, he said the ghost is gone, but my sister and I still felt he was around.

Two days later, I was on my own, during late afternoon, and my bedroom door handle started to shake and rattle furiously. That same day, I was in lounge room at 8:30pm and the tall lamp on the other side of the room that I had on, started to dim and flicker. Nothing strange, it happens to everyone, but 5 minutes later, I heard two deep breathes come from there and my cat immediately runs outside on the balcony. 10 minutes later, a strange, metallic, whiny sound was coming from outside, I walk outside and the sound was coming from outside my sister's room. I walk back in and my cat is still outside sitting upright meowing at the wall where the sound was coming from.

That week, I started to feel extremely drained just like my sister has been, for no reason at all, so we were both conking out.

I did try to get recordings of the events during the nights. But no matter what I used to record it (phone, camera) mosts nights it would stop at 29:50. There's no sleep function or anything.

So finally, the ghosterbuster came, she knew nothing of the events in the house, other-than that it was haunted. She picked up on the breathing, she even picked up on what kind of breathing it was. She said it was a man who had a lot of chemicals in him and that made him breathe like he did.

I'm usually not very serious about the 'mumbo jumbo' kind of healing, but she's travelled across Australia with her job. Our bedrooms were the main forces here, especially my sister's, and so she she did her thing and got rid of the ghost. She sat us down and cleansed/healed us. I admit, I did feel a little light headed when she was doing this to me. Then she did the whole house.

Now when I entered my own or my sister's room, the air isn't as dense, or heavy, or stuffy. I can't explain how lighter the air felt. There was always a different feeling when you enter the rooms, but now there is nothing blocking it.

3 weeks later after no sign of any activity, I wake up at 3am and I could hear breathing in the corner of the room as per usual. My back was towards it. Suddenly I feel it jump onto my bed, and this time it actually pinned me down and I was struggling to kick it off (not sleep paralysis this time). I felt this uneasy presence and see a shadowy figure going over me. It was accompanied but a low, deep growl sound which I can't explain. It eventually subsided and his breathing was back to the corner.

Minutes later I hear my sister as she shuffles and turns on her bed, clearing her throat as well. I didn't know if she was awake and could hear him.

Next morning I get up and my sister is not home. Turns out she left for her boyfriend at around 1:30am, she heard the breathing as well, but chose to ignore it. So it wasn't her on her bed... That was the last we had anything at our place.

But this isn't the last of my story. I'm doing a play and we go rehearse in the theatre. We were in the 'movement room', sitting around the table about to start going over our lines. It was a dark and cold morning that day, so the lights were on. 5 of us are sitting around the table about to start, and one of the light starts to flicker... a fitness ball underneath starts to bounce, it bounces a few times, rolls out and then rolls back in. We were sitting there amazed. Turns out the block is supposed to be haunted. We told someone in our group (not in the room at the time) about it and she said a month or so before she saw a blonde girl sitting in that room in the reflection of the window.

Part of me wants something like this to happen to me. Some of these stories and "life experiences" are reasonably creepy.

The only thing I've ever had happen to me was my one and only UFO sighting. I know, a lot of people call UFO sightings shit and fakeposts, but we all take what we will from things like this.

It was back when I was living with my parents in high-school maybe...I remember it being late evening and seeing a few people in the cal-d-sac staring at the sky. Of course, we all had to go peak at what they were looking at. Turns out, there were 3 lights up in the sky just floating there in a triangular pattern.

They were moving around a little, and I remember a fourth just appearing off to the side, jostling around, and then stopping dead near the formation. They floated around a bit, erratic jumps here and there, and then just disappeared.

I know my sister took pics back then, and I'm actually hassling her now to see if she still has them. She said she has them somewhere on her computer, so I'll upload them if she is able to find them.

I'm a believer in the UFO stuff. There are some ridiculous stories that people concoct, sure, but having had an experience seeing what I firmly believe was a UFO, I do believe in it.

E: Actually, my sister took a video! The pics are black with red dots, so it's hard to tell what it is really. The video is gold. I'll upload it to youtube. Apparently, the occurrence was on a UFO show a while later. It was recorded as happening in Tinley Park.

Day time..**reading** tra la la la la... "hmm interesting, cool"

Night Time..what the hell noise wats that?? that chair in my room with my clothes on it looks like a person, turns like on inspects room...blackeyed people outside, ?? can't sleep.................

though I swear walking home late from work one night I saw a man walking his dog on the other side the road from me, all was well apart from his face which was featureless...(no eyes, nose, mouth etc, like the question) fucking strange

Ah reminds me of something that happened shortly after the events I wrote.

I was walking to the gym, and I was about to cross the road, so I look back to check for cars, I noticed someone walking my way, but thought nothing of it as you do. From the quick glance, it was a guy in a large coat, but I couldn't see his face, as it was in shadows. As I cross the road, I hear him crossing behind me. I get to the otherside and continued on the footpath. I hear him approach behind me on the grass, as if he was trying to get past, so I move to the side so he can pass... I look back, but no one was there...

I always wished these topics were investigated by skilled investigators. Not that they would be substantiated if this happened but it would make reading about it so much more entertaining. I cant force myself to watch shit like Ghost Hunters, the horribad investigative technique and science enrages me too much.

Not even shitting you, right now I'm at work in my office building and I'm one of the only people on the floor. It's not even at night, it's just after eight in the morning. I'm sitting here reading these stories and I have my little desk fan going and I just hear this kind of eerie howling.

No, it's got to be my mind playing tricks on me; I'm reading a thread of spooky stories. I'll just turn off my desk lamp and there'll be nothing.

The weird howling doesn't go away. It's unlike anything I've ever heard: It sounds like a mix between the wind blowing between close buildings and someone actually, in a falsetto, going "OOOooooOOOOOOOOOOO" and it's creepy as fuck. Why the hell is that noise happening in my near-deserted office building after eight in the morning, and why am I almost alone here? It'd daylight out. Why am I reading this thread?!

Turns out it's some type of coffee maker thing in the break room.

Oh well.

Not trying to be an apologist, but if I had managed to still be conscious and have not shit my pants when I saw an alien or manifested ghost thing etc. I doubt I'd be in the position to audition for a steadicam operator IYKWIM.

Some friends and I talked about writing a movie about a featureless man in a suit or trenchcoat that only appeared before horrible events (this was shortly after 9/11), and had done so for ages. People would see him and inquire as to what the stranger was doing, but then become distracted by the event, and once they looked back, even if only a second had passed he would be gone and something about him would make them forget about him. He'd have appeared all through history and no one ever remembered him until the advent of photography. Every now and then someone would be in the right place at the right time and they'd catch images of him, but only the people taking the photographs would remember. Later, with the invention of camcorders and cell phone cameras he became something of an internet celebrity. Many thought it was a hoax or a different person, a problem with the exposures etc. The movie's protagonist will have caught the man on video right before a subway bombing. He moved incredibly slowly, almost as if the act of being observed and recorded somehow trapped him. Every time he showed the video to someone, the man's image would seem clearer and clearer to him but fuzzy to every first time observer. This coupled with nightmares about being experimented on and dissected by the featureless trench coat man. Then when he hears about a hostage situation nearby, he goes to see if the man will be there. Sure enough, the man is there, staring at him. The protagonist records the man again, and this time, the image as he sees it is crystal clear and everything else in frame is fuzzy. The featureless man slowly reaches toward him though he is like 30 feet away, but on the screen the man's arm is stretching impossibly toward him until it actually comes through the screen and makes a gesture as if pulling at something invisible. It retracts through the screen, twisting and pulling the protagonist into the screen as well. When he has completely vanished, the camera falls to the ground and focuses on the face of the protagonist moving very slowly in a trenchcoat. The featured man then turns to watch as the hostage taker makes good on his threat to detonate his bomb. A second later, he is gone.

I thought it was a great idea, but we never pursued it. Then when I found out about Marble Hornets and the something awful Slender Man I did a major "FUUUUUUUU!"

That's crazy, although wouldn't he die if they tried removing it?

He'd already long be dead, since an actual functional face with a mouth and windpipe would mean he's missing a spinal cord. He'd be completely paralyzed from birth and likely so braindamaged he'd be stillborn.

That degree of parasitism would probably have suffocated him before leaving the womb in the first place.

I wish I could find the original story. All I remember is that it was posted on a forum (maybe here?) a couple of years ago.

A guy posted his experience from when he was a kid. His family moved to Italy for some reason and they were living in this nice, older villa. The kid's bedroom had a set of double doors that opened into what amounted to a small solarium. It was too small to be a courtyard or a garden. Just an open area with no roof and a small drain in the ground as that's where the gutters dumped down rainwater from above.

Anyway one night the poster recalled this terrifying experience he had. He awoke to the sight of something that looked kind of like a woman standing right outside his bedroom doors, in that solarium. When he made eye contact with it it let out the most shrill and terrifying screams and then it somehow forced itself into the drain. A human sized..whatever it was... forced itself into something about twice the diameter of a bathtub drain. He said he could hear the bones cracking. And it kept screaming the entire time until it was gone.

I wish I had the original post because it was far more detailed. More than the story itself what really gave me chills is that it felt like the truth. It didn't feel like a scary story. It read like someone's genuine recollection of events from their memory.

That's pretty Junji Itoesque...you have to find this story.

That is one of the most disturbing things Ive ever seen. So, if that face could laugh or cry, then it had its own conciousness? Im suprized it didnt suffocate when then "main" guy put his head on his pillow at night.
If both "faces" shared the same brain, maybe the small face could communicate with the big face through some kind of telepathy?
Man, its freaking me out!

It's only freaking you out because you can feel the head trying to come to the surface in the back of your head. Feel that? Feel that knot back there? That wasn't there yesterday was it?

Sounds like a typical case of sleep paralysis. Wakes up, sees something scary, hears terrifying screams. I bet sleep paralysis can explain nine out of ten "paranormal" occurences.

Ok, we're already approaching the point where something should be done. But nothing is. And why not?

Ok, this isn't the end of the world. Definitely something you could write off or not think anything of it.

So now he's running up the water bill. That asshole.

Here's where I can't help but just laugh at your story. You've got a fucking GHOST in your home, paralyzing you and harassing the shit out of you and so how do you handle it? "Aww c'mon Mr. G, go away and lemme sleep!"

Its ridiculous. Its also why I have a hard time believing stories like this.

THEN WHO WAS PHONE? Seriously, did I miss something in the story? What's the significance of it being a blonde girl?

It's just offering details. The same as saying there was a white/black/asian dude there. It's just what popped out at the person who saw it.

I suffer from sleep paralysis (my Dad is a sufferer, maybe genetic?) and I have experienced some horrific shit as a result.

I always found that if I have not slept well for a few days and sleep on my back I am more likely to suffer an 'event'.

One night I had finally managed to get to sleep after I had been suffering from insomnia for a few days (I suffer from periodic attacks).

I was over tired and stressed from the previous few days lack of rest, it was around 5am and I lay down in my bed. It felt like I had literally closed my eyes and immeadiately opened them again, same room, same light ..... same everything!

Then from nowhere a bunch of faces, translucent and pale appeared around my bed ..... I felt hands grab my arms and legs and then the most bone chilling chorus of screams started from the ghostly apparitions as they dragged me up towards the ceiling and then into a black void. The whole time I am trying to cry out and wriggle from their grip to break free ....... such intense panic and dread took over me as I tried desperately to break free! Suddenly I could move my hands and then I was bolt upright in my bed, sweating and everything was back to normal.

I was afraid to go back to sleep after that.

I have had other event similar to that one where I have been pulled down into the ground through my bed, I have closed my eyes in bed ... opened them again to see myself in a coffin, suspened above my bed ... almost face to face with myself .... my dead self suddenly opened its eyes and let out that bone chilling scream.

I am not afraid of much, not the dark or anything like that ...... but boy do sleep paralysis events scare the shit out of me. I have asked my girlfriend if she ever hears me moaning or whimpering in my sleep to wake me up ....... because those noises are me trying to cry out for help but I can't open my mouth.

Not sure if I posted this here already or not but I have a story that isn't so much paranormal as it is just extremely creepy. I actually wrote about this in my feature writing class in college. True story.

When I was about 11 or 12 we lived in this trailer park. Behind our trailer ran a creek. To the right of our trailer was our "yard" and where we had our dog and her dog house. One night late, my mom was in the living room watching tv, I think possibly had fallen asleep. I was in my bedroom dozing off, watching tv, when I heard my dog start barking frantically. Not the normal, barking at another dog or animal, but a different type of defense bark of sorts. The type that sounds like something is wrong. This went on for about a minute before I decided to see what the hell was going on. My mom was apparently in a heavy sleep, plus our dog was located more closely to my bedroom than the living room so its not too surprising she hadn't woken up. But I open the door and our dog is going apeshit. We kept her on a long chain at the time and she was jerking that thing to the point I thought it was going to break. So, I close the front door and squint my eyes to see what exactly she is looking at and I see what seems to be a dark figure. I walk a bit closer and see that its a person walking around in the creek bed in a long black trench coat. The creek had been dry and not that deep due to the lack of rain. I didn't think much of it, just figured it was some emo/goth kid or something being bored and wandering around. I walked up to our dog and tried calming her down, petting her and what not, and saw him continue to walk down the creek bed out of site.

The next morning I woke up and walked to school which was literally across the street from the trailer park and a little ways up the street was a church on a bit of a hill. Tons of cop cars were parked all around. I get into class and asked one of my friends if he knew what was going on. And he told me apparently someone late last night decked out in all black hung themselves on the tree that was outside on the church.

I just sat there in disbelief that it was probably the person I saw last night right before he killed himself.

Why do I read this thread at 4AM in dead silence? I'm pretty stupid...lol

I saw this thread had popped up again last night but I intentionally waited until lunch today to read it. I scare myself when reading this or even watching Ghost Hunters at night.

I can attest to some of you mentioning you'll "wake up" and see stuff like spiders. I am not a fan of spiders and occasionally I will "wake up" where I am not really awake but it feels like I am and see a spider crawling on the wall and I will literally shoot out of bed and wake up fully by the time I turn my light on. At this point I know I was dreaming it and I'll do a quick bed check and go back to sleep.

Has anyone ever theorized as to why so many sleep paralysis occurrences are horrible visions?

Why can't I wake up and see two naked hot chicks making out instead of some demon?

What if sleep paralysis allows your brain to see what it normally shuts out during the day?

E: Actually, my sister took a video! The pics are black with red dots, so it's hard to tell what it is really. The video is gold. I'll upload it to youtube. Apparently, the occurrence was on a UFO show a while later. It was recorded as happening in Tinley Park.

You should put the video up on youtube and sent a link to NUFORC. they have a webpage you can google and they accept new sightings and old ones. They sometimes do exposes and cross reference new proof, etc.

Because your brain is freaking out and panicking that you can't move? It's not an experience that is going to generate pleasant images.

Perhaps it's because people typically wake up during nightmares. Rarely do I wake up from a good dream.

I've had Sleep Paralysis about 3 times in my life. First 2 were scary. I can't remember the very first one clearly, but the second one there was female child laughing, which scared the shit out of me, but I couldn't see anything. 3rd time I realized what was happening, and I calmed down and went to sleep.

My brother, on the other hand, had it happen to him while he was sleeping on his back, so when he woke up he had full view of his room. He said he seen a pitch black silhouette of a large man at the foot of his bed, and he couldn't move or scream. The silhouette eventually de-materialized and he jumped up and ran to wake up our mom. What's even more creepy about this situation, is during this time his room was filling up with flies. Never seen so many flies in my life. Typically, this is sort of taken as a sign of an evil presence.

Also during this time, and even more scary; He had a cross on his wall. I was in his room for a moment, probably trying to see something, or scare myself. I was looking at the cross on his wall. The horizontal piece detached from the vertical, twisted around by the "nail" in jesus' foot, and stopped at the bottom, making an inverted cross - also typically considered evil. I ran.

If we feared it, things would've been worse. I wasn't really that scared, I'm not going to encourage it. The ghostbuster was booked, there was nothing I could do. I only cried once and that was when it actually pinned me down, because that was the only time with the real physical connection, and I saw and heard it angry, (and he was supposed to be gone) but that was on the last time he was here.

Some really crazy stuff in this thread. I guess I could share some of the weird paranormal stuff that has happened to me.

So about twelve years ago, the girl I was going out with at the time lived in a supposedly haunted house. Her parents, brother and sister would all tell me stories about hearing voices, stuff being moved around the house, cabinet doors being opened when they are asleep and seeing random figures in the shadows. This kinda freaked me out a little bit but I kinda just brushed it off. One night we had just finished eating out late and she decided she wanted to stay at my house, we just had to stop by her house so she could pick up some clothes. So we go to her house and after she got her stuff right when we exited her room. The kitchen lights start going batshit insane off and on. You could literally hear the switch going up and down. So I take a two steps down the hallway and right when I peak my head in the kitchen it stops and of course nobody was there. I really didn't get freaked out at all and she was already use to stuff like this but that was the one and only time anything weird happened to me in that house.

Now this next story did freak me out. About five years ago after working a late shift at a previous job. I pulled up to my house and decided to have a cigarette before I go in. As I'm just winding down and enjoying the summer night I notice a girl standing near my neighbors driveway, just standing there. Not really moving just kinda facing me. For a brief second I start thinking one of the kids in the neighborhood must have snuck out but she was not really moving and then something struck me as kinda off, her hair was blowing but there was no wind and right at that second she just vanished. I was literally frozen stiff for what felt like a minute. After I came too I ran right up to the door and walked right into my house not even realizing my cigarette is still in my hand. My roommate was still up in the front room playing WOW and looked at me and said I was really really pale. I told him what had happened. I did not sleep too good that night. To this day I'm still at the same house and nothing out of the ordinary has happened.
